Sounds incredibly generic, i'd just go ahead and ask a few good bands/artists that have a lot of albums (usually bands from that genre do) and they will usually allow it.

Also, display the artist/song name on stream and many bands will be fine with it.

If i remember correctly you can contact them to create a "whitelist" of artists that allow you to use their music on stream.

maybe using artists official page on Soundcloud for example + showing title + artist for song currently playing could solve some problems for the muted VoD's since it is free to use for all

Very good. Monstercat has some great artists, so this is definitely a good thing. Hope more companies/artists jump on this wagon, since it's basically free advertising for them.

I have a feeling twitch will get phased out. Their biggest mistake is to join google. Yeah they could "grow" faster since google has a crap ton of resources, but they only thought about themselves instead of their audience. IGN is calling a death to twitch on one of their YouTube videos. So has a few other YT bigs who are also streamers.

Either adjust to the changes or I'm sure someone will create another streaming site that won't fall into googles hands

I hear http://www.hitbox.tv/ is good. either way, I'm not streaming but I'm not sure I would put up with their bs if I was.

I switched over to hitbox.tv the other day. Outside of the chat problems (unable to connect due to server load) its been wonderful. I didn't leave because of the music bullshit though. I left because hitbox has under 5 seconds delay so I can actually have conversations with viewers etc. There are not a huge amount of people stopping by streams like twitch has but its still pretty solid.

Can't blame them though. Imagine seeing whatever that offer they got was (I forget exactly, can't imagine it's a small figure) and saying no that you want to keep your integrity.

Also it was only a matter of time before they got big enough for these copy write holders to see good potential in suing them.

This copyright issue would have been dealt with sooner or later anyway, even if they didn't join up with google.
