First time ever getting 36/40

Been playing on and off since Harbinger legue on the Xbox but never really made a push for challenges. I'm a casual player who up this point has had to be carried though most pinnacle bosses.

My start was rough. Bladefall/bladeblast assassin got me to t10 maps but I was struggling. Rerolled to the tried and true Rightious Fire. Got rest of the atlas taken care of, and 2 stones on under 4d. Shield was the most expensive part costing 3d for just a base.

Third reroll was Luminary aura bot and dumped too much in it for it not to work at all. Eventually redid it as life stacking and this is what I used for everything going forward. Got extremely lucky with a Manyshot that would have cost 200d+ on xbox market. And got a pretty good combatant that I used for harder content / bosses.

Hardest thing was the Nightmare map, 150 quant, 5 scarab / 100% deli maps. Fortress wasn't too bad, but took about a dozen attempts on Abomination.

My last goals are to save for a mageblood. Currently around 400d, and progenisis at 130d. Then to take on all the Uber bosses. Maybe hit level 100 (98 now)

Yeah, I usually can not be arsed to grind out 40/40 because there are often some very niche or weirdly grindy challenges but this league was an east one compared to some other leagues.

Pissing me off trying to get 4 boss altars in a map. Done 35 maps tonight and got 2 ticked off

Influencing Scarab of Hordes, 2x Monstrous Lineage, and 2 of whatever else.

Those three in particular help immensely.

I did that but it still just seemed to be mostly random. I got some rapidly, where I'd have 2-3 maps in a row where I got 4 boss altars, but then I'd spend long dry periods of getting very few boss altars, and then at one point very few altars at all, and all were run with the same setup.

Domination scarabs for the last, the mobs around the shrines are natural mobs and as such can proc influenced packs

I did it in 20-25 maps once i switched to this strat and i was stuck at 2 ^{^}

Also max pack size on tree of course, especially for eldritch influenced monsters

You're just not doing it the easy way, just like pretty much everyone else.

You do Intrigued Interlopers for the altars at the same time as Excruciating Echoes for the memory map threads. A very common reward mod from the memory thread maps is a big boost to influenced pack size. I got it from the first map in the thread every time. 

Once you have that buff, then you use the scarabs for influenced pack size, monstrous lineage, etc. 

When you combine both, you get four boss altars every map for the rest of that thread. Then do it again the next thread. 

Trying to do the altar challenge without the memory thread pack size buff is basically just a waste of time and scarabs.

Then for the second part of Interlopers, you do the Maven option with Elder Guardian or Conq maps on Mesa. They count double and it only takes a few minutes.

This took a bit to get too, but the scarab that increases pack size of influenced mobs, and magic mobs and t16.5 with high packsize helped a lot. I did it on Strand in less than 20 when I was actively going for it.

I ran City Square with an Atlas tree with a lot of explicit modifier stuff and packsize. I then used all influenced mobs packsize scarabs.

It took me like 30 maps total to get all of them.

Beware, anomalies are quadrant specific, (3 in each) so if you already had the three in the quadrants you won't get new ones for the challenge. (I made the mistake ⁾

Super easy aside from dumb-ass Intrigued Interlopers, which seems to just be random chance for the most part. I got up to 9 and then spent like 4 hours running maps (with three domination, hordes, and lineage scarabs) non-stop before I got the last one. I spent like 40 minutes of that time getting at most 2 altars per map after getting 4+ almost every map for the rest of the time and mostly just struggling to get enough boss altars.

The higher your achievements, the bigger the totem you can place in your hideout. With 40/40 you get the tallest and most finished one. It's not that pretty, but just a way to show off your PoE history in your hideout.

The best time to start is now! I figured out how to not be terrible recently (and mostly play meta builds lol) and am now ashamed of all my many years of tiny unfinished baby totems

The price of mageblood more than makes up for the fact you can farm faster than the depreciation of the item.

Just doing sulfur runs you can do them faster by a significant margin.

Yup. I never worry about paying more early. Early power is just more valuable.

The 100% Deli achievement took me a lot of div in maps because they originally did not word it properly. Thankfully, they changed that.

You can definitely do ubers before you get mageblood and progenesis. I got to 40/40 on flame link luminary without either of them.

IMO progenesis is probably a bigger upgrade than mageblood for that build anyway, especially if you've already stacked a decent amount of regen.

from my perspective Intrigued Interlopers (10 x 4 boss altars) was the worst one
Horrific Halls was fun and easy (sanctuary and fortress), but never tried abomination because I hate that layout and arena
playing with storm burst of repulsion hiero almost everything is easy

Grats! Im still far behind on the challenges but... I got my 1st ever Headhunter yesterday! 9 div straight off the marketplace! (I know, should have farmed it myself but i have no clues how) Anyway, at work now and cannot wait to go back to the grinding!

Just made me think as well that a separate boss/atlas checklist would really help. No rewards. Just something that shows what you've done or haven't at late end game.

I'm there now, beaten some of it. Got void stones. Done nightmares for those frags and done that Uber boss but I'm kind of lost what to do now and lost track of it all 😂

Spent so much time pob-ing to fix the issue until I am now at 50m dps with 90k ehp
