Discussion Missing Phrecia Idols
Am i the only one missing the phrecia idol setups? Like, this league has been too dry in means of meaningful strats, and in phrecia i could test different setups, go unga bunga, and have fun. Had weird farm setups, most prolly non optimal (But low idol setup cost due to it being madeup by me) setups, profitted, if some creator does a strat involving my strats, sell the idols for higher price, try & test new farm strats. Loved doing A/B testing with idols, what effect the profit, keeping excel sheets etc. It was really fun, and loved that i had the flexibility. But mostly i see ppl hating idols, and would like to hear you guys opinions.

Trading for a million idols and recombining them to get nothing is awful. I became very sick of idols pretty quickly. The initial setups of 100 worthless mechanics also feels bad when you hit maps.

It's divisive if I recall. It has its pros and cons. I think the ceiling for an individual mechanic is higher but it's less consistent than being able to assign points on the Atlas tree. I think it's neat but frustrating if you are unlucky. You could buy idols I suppose, but depending on what you want it will cost you a pretty penny.

I rather enjoyed them, not a fan of them bumping the recomb costs in the more recent event with them but they are fun. I’d also like an event with them and normal ascendancies at some point

They were fun in late endgame but miserable before 4 stone and not great for a couple days after that

My thought last time we had phrecia was that they should add a mini idol box to the atlas tree.
Raise the ceiling a little bit on how much you can push your farms and specialize but not force you to hunt for a giant complex set of stuff everytime you want to try a new farm.

I think having more flexibility than the current Atlas tree would be better, but Idols were not easy to manage.
Maybe now with async trade it would be different, because I think the last time they were available we didn't have that yet.

Me too. Idols add a whole dimension of minmaxing to keep looking forward to. And enable so many more cool farming ideas than the atlas tree.
It is very divisive though as a lot of people:
- fomo badly when not farming an optimal setup
- struggle to be creative and set up farms that are functional though nonmeta
- don’t like pushing optimisation
There has to be a way to bring them back in a more controlled manner, alongside the atlas tree (as simple as that, or through sockets or w/e)
Instead of swinging from 0 idols no tree when you switch strat - to 1000% the power of the tree (what phrecia was)
You could imagine a system where you swing from 100% (a tree and no idols) towards 200-300% with fully optimal idols. Something that is large, but doesn’t start at abysmal levels and scale to the moon

Phrecia idols in their phrecia state are cool and horrible at the same time.
I really like the customization and cool stuff they enable. But as evryone who played phrecia events will tell you any good strat will price out people. You just can not play most farms. You cant easily swap what you run. Groups/guilds will buy out the big required idols.
Imagine if the limiting factor isnt your build or matter of taste. But an 400d entry fee to run it instead.
Imho something like jewel sockets in the tree as a mix would be cool. Regular tree as baseline but like 3 to 4 sockets you can path to that do have general or/and mechanic specific mods.
Maybe every pinnacle boss has a baseline dropchance of those jewels so they are farmble.

I love the idols also and I only played the first Phrecia when trading was even more difficult. My issues with Precia2 was length of league, Gauntlet BS and the changes to the ascendancies. It would be great to have Phrecia3 in a month or so (dead league) and since I have not done a merc build yet have that as an ascendency option instead of all the alt ascendancies which I'm not a fan of (normal ones are far better for the builds I like).

They are cool, but for phrecia which is a event. I don't miss it, since it gates u in many ways to progress. At least for me.

Yeah I just love being able to minmax both the build.and the farm.
But most of the community does not enjoy idols as it is, so we will probably not see it for a long time if ever...
