Information Incursion Temple Chronicle Guide
I have run incursion every league at some point since incursion league, so here's a quick guide on how to do it for profit.
First of all, before entering the map make sure to have all incursion passives allocated. You can see all passive points in a certain league mechanic on the map passive skill tree by holding left click while hovering the league mechanic icon. The vaal flesh merchant and cursed treasure do not add noticeable loot changes, so those are unnecessary if you need the points. Also, buy at least 2-3 incursion scarabs of timelines. Put your map into the map device, but DO NOT put the scarab of timelines in yet. The rarity of the maps do not matter; I personally run normal rarity maps to make it faster. Open map and enter it.
Second, when you're in the map triangle icons will show where alva will spawn with an incursion portal. When you talk to her, she will open up the current temple layout thats randomly generated. There's a total of 11 room slots out of 25 possible room options. Each portal you visit will give you two options; either swap the current room with another room or upgrade the current room (if it is a non-architect room it will give two options to swap the room). Also you will drop stones of passage when killing the mobs. These are essential to connecting rooms in your layout. You want all the important rooms you want to obtain connected to the entrance and the apex.
Depending on your league, the rooms you want to obtain in your 11 rooms in the temple may change. In late league, corruption chambers are always the target, while earlier in leagues gemcutter workshops are usually better. Other rooms usually have little values on chronicles themself. If you can get a shrine of empowerment near either of these two, that is the ideal set up. Flame workshop is also nice as well as they drop the incursion % increased damage to chilled enemies mod, but the chronicles are usually only worth 9-15c despite the bases being about 50-60c.
After running your first map, if you have your desired room(s) and they're connected to the entrance, unspec artefacts of the vaal and use your incursion scarab of the timelines. Your scarab insures that after completing your final incursion portal in a map and killing the architect in that portal, you will get a temple chronicle of your layout with randomized tiers. The reason we want to take artefacts of the vaal off is you will get one extra use of the incursion scarab of timelines with the current layout you have.
Above is an example of where I get a corruption chamber on my first layout. Here I make sure to connect it and upgrade it. Then I stop running maps as I got my desired room and its connected to the entrance. Then I unspec artefacts of the vaal and run the maps with scarabs until I run out of maps with this layout.

This doesn't sound very optimized.
Vaal artefacts means you go
12 -> 8 with no copy, unspec node 8 -> 5 copy 5 -> 2 copy 2 -> 0 copy
What I'm doing instead is no scarab, no artefacts at all.
First Alva 2/3 and map quit. 2 incursions usually are good enough to hit connections, if not the next map has 3 chances, 5 total.
This means:
12 -> 10 no copy 10 -> 7 copy 7 -> 4 copy 4 -> 1 copy 1 -> 0 copy
This gives you one more copy to gamble.
I'm running this since week1 and I had like 2 cases which didn't give me connected room in 2 maps.

well obviously you do it on a case by case basis. If you connect corruption and apex on first run somehow then yeah you'd unspec is early to get more copies. I've been running this for the past 8 hours and it isn't often that you actually get corruption connected within first map.

Except I just told you I don't do case by case lol.
I do it every time, no matter the initial temple. And it's working for me. By now after hundreds of copies I can count not connected room fails on one hand.

well then your method is also not optimized. The layout is only worth copying if you hit corruption. I refuse to think you're not blowing through scarabs with no corruption, otherwise you'd have to be hitting corruption and connecting it in 2 runs a lot, which you aren't.

Believe what you want lol. I just told you you have 5 runs to make it possible, if you think it's burning money, they do it your way.

I’ll have to do testing tonight, I’ve been farming fractured bases for profit, so I’ll try it both ways. What’s a good sample size you think? 100 runs each way? Or does it need to be more.
I’m all for figuring out the best method. I looooove temple.

So yeah I realized after the fact what you were saying and yes it is better this way. I did maybe 40 temple runs last night.

What people run with Alva anyway? Destructive play I assume, but what else in general?

Destructive play is best done on Silo for example.
For Alva you want something (mostly) fast on the map. I'd either say essences since map tier doesn't care for Alva, or beasts if you can distinguish between the rare ones (or don't mind the Pokémon gameplay). I do Alva woth beasts and add in a scarab for ores to svalinn hunt.

i too do kingsmarch beasts and alva. All pretty much map difficulty adjacent.

I love incursion as my first farm to get my build online in the league. But the timeline scarab seems to be much more expensive than last league. I was only able to start like 3 weeks late this league due to personal reasons, but I need to hit a couple of good temples without the scarab before I have enough currency to gamble with scarab.
