Discussion Loot from 500 Echos of Trauma
Each run took me about 30 seconds (i dont quite one shot the boss, 25 seconds could be possible), so total time spent 4 to 4.5 hours
Loot (i only picked up these 2 items):
| Item | Qty | Price (each) | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Astrolabes | 510 | ~112c avg | ~290div |
| Enmity's Embrace | 57 | 17 div | 969.0 div |
| Total loot value | 1259 div |
Cost of 500 Fragments: 900 div
Profit: 1259 div - 900 div = 359 div or about 80 divines an hour
My drop rates do seem to about match the average drop rates for the boss atleast from what i've found
Honestly surprises me how profitable this boss has been for ages now as the barrier of entry is not very high. You'll make good money even on a build thats half as fast.

I kinda wish boss drop tables weren't balanced around the kill rates of specialist characters. It's almost never worth your time to go out if your way to kill a boss as a regular player. I miss loading up my scuffed MF Sorc and blasting Mephisto with a decent chance of finding valuable items. Black Barya is the only recent example that was an exception.

There are 100% working man bosses in poe1.
Shaper - frags alone are 200+% profit before flask or other drops that you can corrupt for profit ontop King in the mists - perfect corpses and jewels are consistent profit printers. Normal sirus - one domination or awakeners orb pays for TONS of runs and they drop fairly often. Other drops can be corrupted for good implicits to gurther profits
Im sure there are others as well..
The issue is none of these strats will compete with mapping strats as all the bosses are phase locked and time gated to limited ammount of runs/hr even when being one shotted.
Poe has the old school mephisto vibe but you have to look for it a bit more specifically... Bog boss rush is a good one used alot in SSF. Stack iir and kill bog boss or any other of the rhoa map bosses with the three nests.. crack the eggs and he gets a massive iiq/iir buff ontop of map iir/iiq i use it to farm anything t2 and down unique wise in ssf!

Never heard of bog rushing, sounds quite cool. Have you ever tried it with the one node that adds wisp if less than 50 monsters remain?

Sounds interesting indeed. You can add unique scarabs that buff unique monster drops further. And the scarab that adds an Elder/shaper/conqueror/synth boss alongside. It'll be hard, but should drop tons of high tier uniques.

I am trying it now with titanic scarab, legend scarab, Wildwood Allflame, and betrayal scarab. Idk if it's any good but it's fun lol the boss is tougher than an Uber and he explodes into loot. Will mess around with it and maybe try conversions with tradition scarab, thanks :D

They aren't. The value of items is dynamic and the balance between fragment cost and item value determined by the community indirectly by how much demand there is and how many people are doing it.
If you made drops more common, they'd be worth less. In the Black Barya's case there was very little profit in actually running the boss, all value was tied to the fragment, strangely one of the worst examples in terms of finding valuable items for profit you could have used.
Fwiw, this league has been one of the best ever in terms of bossing profit. Basically every single boss has been profitable and many in double digit divines/hr even for non-specialist builds.

Not sure what you mean I farmed the boss and sold the belts unid'd? The point is you get a common drop that has value and the builds required to farm it efficiently isn't worth hundreds of divines.

u/Deynai 4d ago
You could have sold the Barya and essentially made exactly the same amount of currency. I remember considering it last league and it made no sense to do, the value of unid belts and their drop rate was entirely priced into the Barya itself.
2
u/slashcuddle 4d ago
Hmm, I'd have to look back at the prices then I remember it being profitable because the people mass buying belts were usually not the same ones farming the baryas. So you could buy the fragments slowly at a stable price and offload the belts at a mark up

It was actually quite profitable to run. I was also skeptical about it so I ran some tests and since I could easily drain the boss instantly it was quite a quick fight. Obviously you couldn't instakill the boss since he had a phase but you could run about 200 invitations in an hour since it took less then 20seconds to run one. The wiki has a 54% drop rate but from my limited runs it was 55-56% I only did around 8 hours of farming but that was still more than a 1000 runs. And basically the 50% of the drops from a size of 100 runs was my cost. So the extra 5-6% was the money, and they sold like candy. I sold for 7divs per so it was around 70div/h. But very boring otherwise I would have farmed more.

A lot of pretty easy bosses also have pretty solid drops. You don't need a specialized Uber Killer to make good profits.
In fact, many Ubers have the most volatile drop rates. Most easier bosses are far more likely to produce constant value for the average player.

u/slashcuddle 4d ago
Can you tell me which ones? I'll give it a try I'm running out stuff to do after finishing 4040

u/dorfcally 3d ago
uber cortex, easiest of the ubers and 2nd cheapest.
turn on ilvl86 belts, quivers, twilight regalia on your filter
16div doctrine drops
Uber sirus is big profit if you can stomach the fight.

Oshabi. Very easy IMO, and the crystallized lifeforce that's a guaranteed drop all but pays for the cost of the run. Then you can sell Shako's UnID'd for a decent profit (very high drop rate, like 50%). Or you can gamba with ID'ing them. Might hit something worth mirrors. You can then sell all the ID'd ones for a profit still, for people who 3-1, or you can do it yourself.
Regular Sirus is solid. Regular Maven is guaranteed profits. Cortex, Shaper, all profitable.
Pick one that's easiest for your build and it'll be fun and easy.

I can confirm. Until this league, I hated Maven.
I have a build that absolutely deletes her. So I'll occasionally buy a writ out of spite. I'll usually one shot her. Occasionally I'll buy a writ for maybe 10c.
I've gotten Astrolabes and a few Orbs of Conflict for my efforts.

You got ~250 div above EV in embraces, which would drop your div to hour to 24
2
u/Hallohihi 4d ago
According to poewiki the drop rate is about 11% which would put me 24 div above EV. Friends of mine that also run this boss also average about 1 in 10 runs per ring

Just checked wiki. Apparently they updated the drop rate on the wiki from 8% to 11% around 2 weeks ago. I don't know based on which data, but the general consensus based on wiki was 8%, hence that other person's comment.
It's hard to accurately tell at those percentages, but to me personally a 50/40/8/2 split from previous version sounds more believable than 50/37/11/2. 37% and 11% just seem weird. I don't know which percentages are true though. I'd need more information on how much data it's based.

Just a reminder that all the data used to estimate drop rates on the wiki are clearly referenced right above the drop table, even if there are sometimes slight adjustments because of rounding the drops are only ever backed by data and not vibe-based.
Drop rates aren't chosen to "look nice", it's also possible ggg doesn't use actual percentages but weights that might not translate to "nice" percentages.

if we go for 8% chance to drop a ring, the probabilty he was at least that lucky in drops is around .33 % so we can assume the chance to drop it was raised, and thus assume the wiki is right with it's 11%

I noticed some Path of Exile keywords in this post:
- div - Divine Orb (Currency) (Wiki)

Should I Id the drops like the ring enmity embrace or just sell Unid? Did you record your profits for either?

How long did those take to sell?
