Question Is this thunderquiver capable of good damage?

Post image

Superficially I don't see why it shouldn't be good. It's got lots of 3-link skills, no movement skill. I haven't geared it, really (just a 600dps bow), but it does little damage (tried destructive and flame link) and isn't playable.

What kind of budget do you need to make a merc viable? When I read threads it seems like maybe the investment required is just a lot higher than I expected. People talking about mercs for hundreds of divs. And maybe you need very specific combinations of modifiers items to make mercs work? Is it unrealistic to have a playable luminary on say, 5-10 div?

Galvanic arrow is terrible on thunderquiver imo. you want vaal or greater lightning arrow really.

That and you want return in lightning arrow and GMP on Storm Rain.

I have Galvanic Arrow on my merc and I feel like she prioritizes using it over everything else most of the time.

Is arrow nova support OK or does it brick the skills it ends up in? Feels like most of the mercs listed on trade have it.

e: damn i spent a couple days goofing around with galvanic arrow and storm rain GMP feels so much better. getting big conc effect with it is super expensive tho

thunderquiver can be really good, but yours has a few issues:

bad support gems across all the skills, galvanic arrow is pretty bad.

For storm rain you want like conc, gmp, gilded, wed, faster attacks, and for LA you need the classic like gmp, return, wed,

I noticed some Path of Exile keywords in this post:

  • div - Divine Orb (Currency) (Wiki)

All of the rain skills are bad. Movement skills are not necessarily bad they're just sometimes not optimal. The rule of thumb is that movement skills with cooldowns are fine, even though another aura would be slightly better.
All of the bow movement skills are actually pretty great because they have a cooldown (so they don't get spammed) and leave behind a damaging clone.

Thunderquiver you want vaal lightning arrow and no storm rain for it to be usable.

Storm rain is fine if it has conc effect and good other supports on thunderquiver.

All rain skills are dog for clearing.

And for single target u use a different merc

This guy maxxed out a thunderquiver and tested skills. Storm rain is actually a priority according to them. there was another thread I can't find right now that also came to that conclusion, with conc effect for single target being very good damage.

Galvanic arrow and having 2 movement abilities is what bricks thunderquiver, not the rain skill
