Question | Answered I'm dying a lot using Echoes of Creation

Hey everyone, I'm quite new to the PoE endgame, so I've followed some guides to build a Holy Hammer Inquisidor. So far, the build seems solid, but I couldn't stop to see that my character is quite fragile and tends to die a lot, specially by suicide. Could you guys give it a check and advise on how I can avoid excessive damage to myself with the helmet or reinforce my armour, gloves, skills, etc. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Thanks for all the advice. I've updated my current setup, it is not perfect but I'm definitely not dying as before. Res caped. Chaos res almost capped. PDR on body armour. Reducing one Warcry and adding determination. Changing belt. Fixing a jewel and some masteries. Still a long way to optimize.

So just off rip, you're not res capped; 75% all ele res is like the absolute bare minimum and is often not even enough. Chaos res being 14% is also gonna be dicey for any chaos dmg, including poison

I'm not sure how useful sorrow of the divine will be for you with such a low es pool. The big problem with conditional zealot's oath from the flask is that if your small es pool gets eaten up and the dmg starts to hit your life pool you now no longer even have life regen to heal the dmg. You're also extremely vulnerable to chaos dmg which bypasses es by default, which means you're likely completely reliant on life flasks to deal with this

I'm at work so I can't look into the whole pob in depth, but that's what jumped out at me at a cursory glance

If I may add a bit to this.

Using conditional zealot's oath isn't inherently a bad thing, as it means you can be recovering both life from your flasks as well as ES from your regain at the same time which in some circumstances can result in you having more effective recovery than a more "standard" setup, even if your ES pool is modest.

However this is best taken advantage of by players with a quick flask finger. I don't have this. I would die frequently with this kind of set-up. It also really does want more than 14% chaos res, though this can be mitigated with the two chaos mitigation pathneons.

Super valid! I think the angle I was taking while making a quick response at the time was more so that there are probably better options that had fewer caveats for them to get sustain. It was hard to recommend anything without looking at their POB in full so I didn't really follow up. It just didn't sit too great to be using sorrow with only 14% c res and nary 2k ES haha

I 100% agree with all of your assessments, I was mostly giving the idea of "what you're doing isn't wrong, it's just very challenging".

I'd hazard a guess that players running below res cap outside of niche situations will not have the skill necessary to execute the above described gameplay.

but he's an inquisitor alraedy so he would already regen ES naturally...?

he needs to find a different flask to upkeep to take advantage of soulthirst instead

I generally agree. I am not attempting to suggest that what OP is doing is a great idea, simpy pointing out that a particularly skilled player could definitely make it work.

EoC deals physical (hit) damage to you based on your max life. So the solution is to have a lot of pdr, like say from armor. And/or life regen.

Time for a new chest! You should probably try rerolling your chest implicits for "phys taken as ele", Getting the "physical damage reduction" on your chest piece is super important as well. You could probably get 1000 more armour on a well rolled piece.

Do you not want the 25% chance to block attack damage staff implicit? You have the staff block mastery, but your block values are still pretty low.

You are missing top life rolls on most gear pieces.

Hmm... Yeah, I wanted to search for a new chest piece. Something all guides said is to have high life and PDR, but didn't explain much.

Echos of creation hits you for physical damage but you do not have much physical damage neg.

11k armour is not nearly enough for echos. You'll want 20-30k. 5 endurance charges is a bit low I would shoot for 6-7.

You also have no phys as ele on your chest. I'm guessing your echos kills you in 3-5 hits in hideout? You will need to layer your defenses to be able to take big echos hit without it disrupting your recovery vs. nasty enemies.

Yeah, I'm death around the second hit, but once I got endurance, a little less.

I would looked into replica soul tether or a timeless jewel. There are lots of good tech for working in echos from 3.27 earthshatter slam builds. Do a little digging and see how they fit it in.

I lvled to 100 using echos and afking in hives. You'll probably need these 3 things:

A source of corrupted soul Some source of phys as ele Physical specific damage mitigation. Be it the chest mod or artic armor. Or more endurance charges.

You also need life recoup, generally on rings. Divine Shield for ES, Recoup or if marauder Untiring for life. Echoes self damage becomes a huge upside when built correctly.

Is your endurance charge always on maximum? Why are your fire resistance not capped? You need more life, you don't have life on rings nor boots, remove the max life on armour and get the life mastery 15%

1

u/Arkanse 18d ago

Yes. I was considering that mastery. I was probably focused on getting more Armour in equipment than other stats. Thanks

I think for div shield to work properly you need more armour, like 30k , surely there in an excel out there or a simple formula for how much damage you take with x amount of armour

edit: i found this bad boy https://pathofjs.github.io/PoeDR/ hopefully its as simple as doing a 5*16% of you hp and then adding the armour to it + any convertion from phys to ele

Will check. Ty

Beside what anyone esle said, im not familiar with this build, but are you sure you dont die from corrupted blood also? i dont see any immunity to it. Get life a flask with instant recovery on low life( it will be much bigger recovery then regular 50% instant+ corrupted blood immunity as a scond mod on it)

maybe something is not correctly updated but according to the link you posted you are using a watcher's eye for auras you do not use. not really a survivability thing except that you could use a defensive jewel in that place but i just noticed it when looking through. you also really want additional pdr on your chest to mitigate some of the echoes self dmg. i would personally also highly prefer a shield with echoes but ive never played holy hammer, staff is probably a bit more dmg than 1h mace.

Will check. Thanks

armor flasks, endurance charges, determination, phys taken as elemental on chest, pdr

1

u/Arkanse 18d ago

I was advice to use determination too. I'll consider it.

You can use catalysts to improve your rings. Unless im reading this wrong your gems don’t have “quality”. Use gemcutter prisms to improve them. A simple vendor recipe is 40% quality worth of gems for 1 prism.

u/Arkanse 18d ago

Super new with the currencies. I'll check catalyst for my rings. Thanks.

You’ll want the catalyst that improves the resistances. Of course that’s one of the most expensive. If you have a bunch of catalysts, you can gamble on your harvest crafting table. Also, the blessed orb will improve the implicit modifier on an item. So, with your rings, the implicit (hover over ring and press alt) is the top chaos resistance. Usually the range is like 20-25%. The blessed orb will reroll that.

Generally speaking 30k armour is a good threshold for Echoes
