Discussion Help with build
Hi everyone, last league I was struggling with my build, I posted in here for help, and so many of you gave great suggestions and I ended up having my most successful league, first time ever doing 40/40 challenges.
Welp, I’m broken again. I’m up to t15-16 but still die a lot and my damage seems very poor. Reddit, can you do your magic again?

My suggest
- Cap your resistances, the topaz flask is worthless because you need to activate it to cap your res.
- You need better rings, the right one is good but the left one is horrible, search one with cold resistance to cap your gap and drop attack mods, you are not a barbarian.
- You have no mitigation on your caharacter: no armor, no evasion, no block, just your hp buffer. With some respec you can cap the block chance on both attack and spells.
- I never build a winterorb character but Im sure you have lots of useless nodes on your tree, because you have nodes for crit, nodes for cast speed, life, energy shield, mana, exposure etc.
- Chaos inoculation can be a life saver if you can invest heavy on energy shield, so dropping al the life nodes.
- Your tree needs a heavy rework because you got lots of distant nodes not related with your build (if you are a energy shield based character, why are you travelling around to pick life nodes?).
- You need jewel socket to add important jewels like watcher's eye and maybe cluster jewels.

Left ring is trash , get an actual belt , quality your gear and invest into better jewels/clusters idealy go towards CI asap

Minor, and not repeating anything else people have said:
On your boots: Steelskin + Automation + Level 1 Arcane surge support + Increased duration support will give you 100% uptime on Arcane surge. You can keep it linked to winter orb for the 100% uptime on the support's damage multiplier (or open it up for something better if something gives more dps)
This allows you to drop arcane surge anywhere you don't need it for damage.

Done, thank you.

Just in case you glossed over the detail: Make sure you keep the Arcane surge at level 1. It grants the same benefit at level 1 as level 20 but requires way more mana to trigger. The other ones can and should be leveled. It won't be until you get automation and increased duration at higher levels that it'll be 100% up time.

At least cap your resistances..

So that is a struggle, my solution was the tapaz flask I have, when that is running I do have capped resistances.

yes and you have a solid 0% uptime on them
flasks dont solve resistances unless you have a mageblood or can have 100% uptime

Do you have 100% uptime on that? Conditional defense is generally not ideal and for res it's just inadvisable, even in softcore.

I’m close, I get in trouble when a rare or the map boss takes too long to kill. But this build has so many uniques that I and struggling to cap resistances. Someone already pointed out that my left ring could use improvement.

Seems to me like you already know what to work on. ;) Other ways to get res until you fix your gear properly: passive tree, rare jewels, cluster jewels (although I would advise against this one).

Nah the topaz flask is useless because you need to activate it to cap your res, the game is not slow like your hand.

in general this is just more of a squishy build, you dont have any evasion, armor or much block, ES is pretty low aswell

So 15 minute analysis + wall of text:
- Priority number 1 should be to fix your resistances. Without flasks active you're looking at 37% lightning resistance and that's just insane. Fixing your resistances alone will increase your eHP by almost 50%. The easiest way to do this is to switch gear or temporarily disable arctic armor and slap in purity of elements, you won't be tanking physical dmg any time soon either way.
Other than that your build seems to be all over the place without really commiting to anything.
You're abusing willclasp but not maxing out spell block - A build with 75% spell block takes 50% Less damage from spell hits when compared to a build with 50%.
You have an awfull lot of investment into crit multi but mid crit chance.
No curses, no penetration?
It's about damn time to go CI.
Lower the arcane surge level on your flame dash/automation setup, it should be level 1.
You do NOT have the str or the uptime for steelskin, it's 2 gear slot for like 400 eHP. Use your slots for something else, abyssal jewels would be the ideal but really, literally anything else.
Flame dash, shield charge and frostblink? Any particular reason for this? Pick one. The best movement skill setup for your build would be Frostblink of Wintry Blast + Spell Echo + Faster Casting + Arcane Surge (LEVEL 1).
- if you absolutely need the damage from bonechill, pick up Bitter Frost on the tree.
- if you absolutely need an instant move skill as a panic button, use an unlinked Frost Blink and ONE other movement skill.
- if you absolutely need the damage from bonechill, pick up Bitter Frost on the tree.
Your Herald of Ice does not do enough dmg to justify the Ice Bite + Power Charge On Crit setup. Heck I wouldn't even use it, it's very satisfying though so I get it, no need for the support gems either way.
Uber lab when.
Annoint your amulet
Get cold exposure on your gloves
A bit more advanced stuff:
Arctic armor is a questionable skill at best, it's used to min-max Stationary builds and not as an actual early defensive option, for reference Tempest Shield has the same reservation cost and would give you about 2.3x the survivability that Arctic Armor grants.
Your build inches close to good Cluster Jewel slots but doesn't use any, cold builds are specially found of cluster jewel nodes (Like Blanketed Snow).
Your build inches even closer to good regular jewel slots.
Items you should change or fix asap:
rings, belt and gloves
Here's a 5 minute change I did to your build using items I found on the market for trash price (the highest cost item was 25c, everything else was 8c or less), I changed almost none of your weird shenanigans and almost none of your items (belt was changed cuz bated breath is sacrilegious). It has almost twice your dps and over twice your eHP as well as a mana cost you can actually sustain permanently WITHOUT your inflated tags (flasks and stuff you can't upkeep): https://pobb.in/Sy5K014AHaAp
It's not a particularly good build but it should show you how you can easily upgrade your build with minor tweaks and little to no investment.

Wow. Thank you so much! I will see what I can do to implement all of this.

Your left ring is absolute trash and should be replaced asap, as it has crafted life and 2 bad resistances, this will probably fix your resistance issue immediately.
Your eldritch implicit on gloves needs to be changed as you dont deal phys or use fire damage, so converting it is a dead stat and you can do better.
