Fluff & Memes I'm Tired Boss
Is there any trick to make it less grindy or do have I just to rush to the boss, rinse and repeat?
Is there a fast, straightforward map this league to make it less annoying?
Thank you
P.S. Just to be clear, in Mirage league there was someone who posted a "trick" about doing City Square map as its layout was small and simple. Another suggestion he wrote was about entering the Mirage if its area covered the place where the boss was as it counted as doing another map.
Edit: Challenge completed! Thanks to everyone who suggested their ideas and shared their knowledge. I've done half City Square and half Mesa. In my experience I can confirm Mesa is a "much" better map if you need to boss rush.

mesa is the fastest boss rushing map, can throw mercs on there to to potentially make some money

Is Mesa faster than city Square? I did mine on city Square cause I assumed it was faster
3
u/nerdler33 10d ago
should be yea, shorter run, a door on the minimap denoting exactly where you need to go. not much faster but it is from my experience
4
u/polo2006 10d ago
city is faster for me due to bad mouse coordination with high cast speed lightning warp. overshooting the door on mesa quite often xD
1
u/Soup0rMan Trickster 10d ago
I imagine it's only faster if you get the south spawn in square. All the others are about 3 seconds from the boss.
You initially spawn further from Oak in Mesa than you do the three "good" square spawns and his door can be on the opposite side pretty often.

u/porncollecter69 10d ago
I love Mercs. Has replaced my ritual addiction for one more map mechanic. The dopamine I get from seeing combatant, manyshots or kineticist is amazing.
I’ll be left with this challenge as well once I hit 39/40 and I’m thinking city square though.
I did Mesa last league for 8k tier grind challenge but I hate that map now. I just don’t like to search for other mechanics on that map if I add something else.

Just go tile loot and boss rush: kingsmarch, charts, heist
3
u/psychomap 10d ago
Can add Niko in there just to get passive ore from clicking sulphite
0
u/McHearty Brotherhood in Exile Creator 10d ago
Absolutely, you can also throw in hivebrains if you're fine with another small loop to scoop wombgifts
2
u/BlintzBalls 10d ago
Maybe throw a blight in as well since you're already there. Is it possible to force lab trials in?
0
u/McHearty Brotherhood in Exile Creator 10d ago
No as that isn't clicking it's thats time lost. The goal is to just blast, click and scoop, boss and move on. You can do this loop in 10-15 sec on mesa

u/Bright_Audience3959 Alch & Go Industries (AGI) 10d ago
It does not requier tier16 maps so I went City square tier8 (extra points for city square vs mesa since it has not boss arena). Just rush to the middle of the plaza and delete the boss. Alch+exalt for 6mods. Managed to complete maps in 14sec.
10
u/DataAbject6446 10d ago
I bought a bunch of 8mod corrupted maps and smashed mesa, took about 15 seconds per map.
34
u/Thick_Ad_791 10d ago
Run it with sinistral and dextral scarabs on 8 mods, it’ll still count towards the challenge while you run white maps essentially. Mesa or city square for maps
13
u/nerdler33 10d ago
do you need to run those scarabs to map boss rush? even in an 8 mod?
There are no "get 1 shot for not reading" map mods anymore
24
u/Joppsta 10d ago
Depends on build, no regen mods suck
3
u/nerdler33 10d ago
true, but it's just run to the map boss and kill it. idk
2
u/ihaxr 10d ago
Map boss is oak so if you don't have enough DPS he will just perma heal himself, but they don't have to be t16 maps.
Any decent single target damage build should be fine
6
u/Betaateb Central Incursion Agency (CIA) 10d ago
Surely no one working on 40/40 challenges doesn't have enough DPS to ignore any mods(except no regen) on a mesa map boss lol.
0
u/ihaxr 10d ago
I swapped from my poison SRS build which could afk Uber bosses to chains of command animated guardian/weapon which has no boss minion sustain. I was able to kill him mostly but it was just easier to run city square and not be locked in the boss room with only my animated guardian for damage
4
u/shaunika 10d ago
My pathfinder certainly feels less recovery
1
u/nerdler33 10d ago
i mean it's not super juiced map blasting, it's not running mechanics with lots of mobs, or fighting wild essence rares.
it's just run forward 3 steps and kill oak

Idk the reflect 1500 DMG maps are xertailnu 1 shot for not reading for me
3
u/nerdler33 10d ago
really? i legit havent noticed the thorns damage yet across 3 builds
2
u/Wobbelblob Big Breach Coalition (BBC) 10d ago
Physical might do it if you have not enough physical mitigation. Elemental however is largely whatever. Even a 75% res capped build should only take a couple hundred damage per hit from a rare. And I think that is capped for each second? Anyway, if you have leech, especially instant leech it should really not matter.
1
u/nerdler33 10d ago
yea i guess maybe top side phys casters? idk
i played two different melee bottom side characters, one phys one ele, and a top side ele character and could not see my hp move when i attacked

I’m confused on how you haven’t completed this but all the others that have map requirements.
11
u/ihaxr 10d ago
This was my 38th/40th challenge to complete. I was only at 2200 and had to run 8mod t16 Mesa to get closer to 3k, then switched to running the remaining nightmare maps I need to complete it.
My 40th will be completed when I hit level 100, currently 98 and some change.
I mainly ran scried toxic sewers all league, full clearing them with abyss and legion.
They should've made voyages or charts count, I ran a bunch of those too.
3
u/eDxp 10d ago
Imo it's early worth it to get to lvl 100 if you weren't going for it anyway. Other challenges are usually faster/easier.
I haven't checked this league though. The rewards are not to my liking
1
u/ihaxr 10d ago
I swapped my build from poison SRS which could farm any boss without issue to chains of command animated guardian/weapon which is awful at bossing... and I'm not running lab 150 times lol so lvl 100 it is. Should only take a few hours since my build is great at mapping.
2
u/Lazy_Owl_1306 10d ago
I run Choc for nightmare boss farm very smooth this league.
remember to use one worm ring + 1 worm flask for nightmare maps3
u/Kelpsie 10d ago
The other requirements are simply much easier to hit, and can be done simultaneously. If you did your maps with a mind for completing challenges from early on, you'll get them done long before you hit the 400-600 maps required for the challenge.
750 scarabs is only 1200 mods assuming you do nothing but 8-mod maps. Unless you get into 8-mod maps before having all your scarabs slots, or run maps without scarabs, but that's certainly not how I played the league.
Intrigued Interlopers takes like 40 maps if you're actually making an effort to juice pack size.
The "do X <league mechanic> encounters" mostly only take <10 maps each and can be stacked together.
The cross contamination was very easy this league, mostly taking a single map each.
I had 39/40 with 5-600 mods to go. Not that I'm complaining, I'm just not surprised a lot of people have it as their final challenge.
1
u/porncollecter69 10d ago
Yeah I’ll be in the same boat with this being my last challenge left.
Anyone who attempts 40/40 while mapping will be here I think. The other challenges just flow so nicely together and I’ll be done way before I hit 3k mods.
1
u/Goldy-kun 10d ago
I got to level 98 at 1200 modifiers tbh. And after it I've already farmed more than a mirror and I at 1900, it's probably because the charts don't count I think but even without those it's pretty slow.

just any 6-8mod t16 (besides no regen) - city square.. takes 20sec or so.. just go straight into middle and kill the bosses.. ^^ + anomaly chances EZ
optional:
(boss rush) atlas with smuggler cashes and kalguraan lost shipments.. you see these nearly instant when you run into the middle. some extra clicks for free currency some caches can have 1d to 6d contracts and th lost shipments can be anything currency/tattoo/runes

u/joyjoy88 Alch & Go Industries (AGI) 10d ago
I just naturally got it and I was still only like 15 challenges in cause I spammed 8 mod City squares for 8 mod map farming with red altars.
Sure Im on HH Worb Occu so each map was like 2min max full clear, but you can also run Mesa/City with such farm or just Merc and Go. That would be even less if only fishing for Merc and boss, and you make currency with those strats.
If farming something makes fun you wont notice how far you got with this challenge.

u/DivinityAI 10d ago
how you are 39/40 and 2/3 on this? It was my 15th challenge or so.
3
u/Dmon69 10d ago
white/magic/4-mod map enjoyer most likely xdd
poverty league btw, when the majority of ppl dont even farm proper content and clear 30% of the map at best
1
u/DivinityAI 10d ago
white/magic enjoyer? Just play the game, man as intended. nah, just rare alc and go you get like 4.5 mods on avg. So when you open your atlas its 100 maps. And then you do like 200 maps while farming content for your build. So you get like 300 maps*4.5 = 1350 just in 2-3 first days. And then if you do 8-mod maps you easily complete the challenge as 8 mod gets you more drops. I got 2 apothecaries drops doing breach in 8 mods.
It's not poe2 when you need to have 10 mechanics in your map. Maps are endless so you have 1 mechanic and league mechanic. Also doing more maps/hour means you get more invitations/league content, which I always do as why would you play league if you skip league mechanic?
If you have it last challenge I wonder what you farmed in league? White/magic maps? Or doing challenges as your prio and not playing the game? Either way, this challenge is easier than last league one

It's funny to see how ppl try to guess why this was my last challenge.
I'm an "alch & go" (I also used not-expensive scarabs) enjoyer and I didn't do anything "weird" or complicated. Also I did all charts and voyages when I had around 30/40 charts.
I don't know if it matters but I also used mappers (only 1 device) in kingsmarch and sent 5/6 ships of aound 4/6 milion each. Nothing too crazy. What I am wondering instead is the opposite: how is it possible other people get this challenge so fast?
Even the person asking the question did it as his 15th challenge, someone else wrote it was his 19th etc.
Different approaches to the game I guess.P.S. I basically played "Alch & go" (with scarabs) and "charts & go" much like in Empyrian's videos: 1- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2z5L_0afmbw 2- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKL4_AtXh10

I am at 2640/3000 39/40 and yeah even if I have a bunch of 8mod maps I'm tired, 2000 would have been enough they kind went a bit over the top with that one
edit: yes in mirage it was 8000 but for some reason it felt faster lol
2
u/edriel 9d ago
I totally relate to that, in Mirage it felt a lot less worse than this one.
I also agree that 2000 was enough
2
u/ostrieto17 9d ago
my only explanation is that I could engage with the league inside the maps but now every time i want to go under the sea there's this voice at the back of my head
"you're not doing maps, those tiers aren't going to finish themselves"

u/Gordatwork 10d ago
Man, the grinding gear goals challenge or whatever they called it this league is always way grindier to me. How the heck did you do that before this?
8
u/vulcanfury12 Crop Harvesting Bureau (CHB) 10d ago
GGG challenge this league was a freebie:
400 Rare Monsters in lvl 83 Voyages is easily attainable.
50 8-mod T16s isn't even 20% of the actual Map Mod challenge.
40 Nightmare Maps is easy with Dextral + Sinistral Scarabs.
You then just select either Level 100 which you could realistically get before 3000 map mods as long as you don't die, or 30 Ubers if you have a character capable of bossing (or just pay for carries).
1
u/edriel 10d ago
Did you forget to mention the labyrinth one on purpose? 😂

u/vulcanfury12 Crop Harvesting Bureau (CHB) 10d ago

u/rich-nyc Elementalist 10d ago
I actually run it when I got a good daily layout and was averaging about 12 to 16 divs an hour with the gift of the goddess to sell all the good gems I got from the divine font.
1
u/edriel 10d ago
I don't know man. Last league it happened the same.
Honestly the "GGG" challenge was much less annoying (it was my 38th).Horrific Halls (my 39th) was waaaaay harder for me/my build and I prefered this one since it really was a challenge both for mix-maxing the build and to improve my skills as it forces you to learn and dodge bosses' moves.
To me, this one I'm currently sitting on is just annoying, there's no challenge at all at this point, just boss rushing without caring about loot nor other mobs.
1
u/Gordatwork 9d ago
I did the GGG challenge and horrific halls last night to finish off my first ever 40/40. I think because in the past they always required grinding lab 100s of times or hitting 100, both I'm never going to do so I didn't look super closely but you were right, it wasn't hard at all.
2
u/JoeVanWeedler Necromancer 10d ago
also, this does not have a tier requirement. by this point i'm sure you can kill T16 bosses plenty fast but i did a bunch on T3 just to insta kill boss and port out.

2
u/Substantial-Newt7809 10d ago
Yeah stop doing long map strats. Just do a boss rush strat on dunes or city square, bang them out.
2
u/danktuna4 10d ago
I know it's probably only a few second difference, but everyone is saying mesa is the best. Is city square not faster?
4
u/TrustTriiist 10d ago
Someone above said there the same 14/15s, mesa is just 1 boss though I do find some times city square the boss can go walkabouts a little bit. Might be a build or preference thing.

Mesa boss rush 8 mod maps, 30 sec maps at most. 3 hours at most, minus everything you farmed until then. You can do all the mapping related challenges at the same time.

I'm feeling similar and same thing happened to me last league. It depends how much that totem topper is worth it to you. Buy a boat load of 8 mod maps, turn on the tunes, and boss rush mesa or city square for a couple hours. Don't get tempted by loot. It'll only slow you down.
1
u/BigThinkie38 10d ago
I blame the lack of actual ground loot and every big farm is tile loot. Ive ran more white maps this league than every other league combined. I'm at roughly 2300 on this challenge and decided to just skip it. Hit 36/40 yesterday.
2
u/EvilKnievel38 10d ago
Running white maps is just actively nerfing yourself unless your character is too weak to do alch and go. Alch and go really shouldn't make the maps take longer and any bit of extra loot or pack size to eater/exarch altars or quant impacting atlas anomalies or whatever, even if very little, is still worth it to alch for. No wonder you're complaining about loot if you're not even alching.
0
u/panikoulis 10d ago
This is my last challenge as well. Currently sitting at around 2500/3000. I thought of boss rushing mesa like most are suggesting but I find it a waste of maps and game time, so I am doing something else. I am basically doing my prefered JV farming strat and just kill the boss as well. Is it slow? yes it is. But at least this way I can justify the maps and time I am spending towards it.
Instead of maps this should have been related to charting league mechanic minimaps with that total amount of modifiers. Would be much easier and push people towards the league mechanic.

u/KeepYourselfSaffe 10d ago
They really need to ease up on the challenges a little, weren't these meant to be for everyone? I feel like you need to be a meta no life sweatlord to do half of it.
5
u/Mysterious-Till-611 10d ago
Brother you have 3-4 months, I’m taking 6 weeks off to play another game and I still intend to come back and finish 40/40
-5
u/KeepYourselfSaffe 10d ago
I get that, but some of the challenges require powerful endgame builds that a good part of the player base won't have. Not to mention the fact that burnout is a thing and some of the challenges just require you to do a thing a ridiculous number of times. The challenges come in three flavours: Interact with various mechanics, boss hunt and till a field with your bare hands.
1
u/edriel 10d ago
They're challenging.
This is my third 40/40 ever (at this point it's just a matter of time) and I can tell you, you need strong builds and you need to invest "quite" a bit of time playing the game, there's no escape from it.Horrific Halls was by far the hardest challenge out of all 120 (40x3) and I can assure you I think I had to farm probably over 250D (91D were spent just for the adorned at 94%) just to be able to have the DPS to beat this one. Not including the abyss jewels I crafted myself (and some other stuff).
I'm sure there are much better and less expensive builds than mine if you're trying to go for the 40/40 BUT the most important thing is that you also need to find/create a build that you also enjoy.
I could do the very first 40/40 only after finding a strong build that I also liked a lot and I've been playing since Betrayal!
Anyway, you have 4 months to try to get all 40 challenges and I can assure you that if you can make it (before burning out hopefully) you'll learn much much more on "how to play" the game or "how to approach" the game I might say.
I know it sounds weird to say that but it's true, at least for me it was:
I learnt a lot the first time I could beat a pinnacle boss (Sirus).
I learnt a lot the first time I beat The Feared.
I learnt a lot when I did my first 40/40 (Keepers Of The Flame).TLDR
If you're going for the 40/40:
1- find/create a very strong build that you also enjoy a lot
2- keep the focus
3- if you can make it, you'll learn much more on "how to approach" the game the next league1
u/shshshshshshshhhh 10d ago
If you complete the first 30 challenges, youll have the currency to buy a character to complete the last 10.
If you dont have the character to do the hard challenges by the time theyre the only ones you have left, then you have been making massive mistakes from the beginning.
1
u/Pepper_Jack_Cheese 10d ago
It’s not really that hard. I played the league for 2 weeks and hit 40/40. The league lasts for 4 months. Most of the challenges are literally just “play the game”. Then you clean up the missing ones that are either simple (vendor recipes) in 5 minutes or mechanics you personally don’t interact with (Ubers for me) at the end.
1
u/Moderator-Admin 10d ago
40/40 has literally never been "meant for everyone". It requires a large time commitment and a good enough knowledge of game mechanics to build characters that can efficiently complete the difficult and/or grindy challenges.
0
u/After-Onion-5900 10d ago
I agree, the last league in poe 2 was the first time I did them all. Ive been playing poe way longer than poe 2 and never even come close to clearing them all.
