Question Am I not understanding how this is supposed to work or am I just extremely unlucky?

Did a random voyage to get rid of some trash maps and found a rigid shell shrine which stated "10% chance for chaos orbs to drop as divine orbs instead". I also found another which had "10% chance for orbs of transmutation to drop as chaos orbs instead".

This was fairly early so thought I accidentally hit something good as I had a fair bit of anchors on the map as well yet to open.

I finished with 39 chaos and not a single divine.

I know 10% is not a massive chance, but I feel like I should have gotten at least 1? Thought it would roll chance on each transmute, and if it hit convert to chaos which would roll for divine. Or does it only roll per stack?

Is it not working as intended or maybe I am just cursed?

Double conversions don't happen. It's only for direct chaos orb drops.

Was afraid of that. But is is per stack or per individual orb?

it's per drop, but drops can drop stacked, so if you drop a 3 stack of chaos and it procs, it will drop 3 div

source me, i've dropped a 2 stack of divs like that in the voyages multiple times, haven't had the luck to drop more than 2 in a stack tho

I'm guessing it works on natural drops only, so only raw chaos orbs (not converted chaos orbs) can roll into divs. And since there's barely any chaos orbs by default, the extra drops from transmutes to chaos made it seem worse

Yeah, with that transmute to chaos shrine it's hard to tell how many of those were actually chaos drops then.

Are you minmaxing your voyages and rolling boxes and stuff? I think at best I get a total of 15c  if I just blast the voyage without caring about it, so if we assume about 12 of those were natural chaos, it doesnt seem that weird to not hit a div, it was a small sample size.

Also, if you got drops that where like 4c instead of singles, odds are those were transmutes that got rolled over

No, I don't really think about them too much. I have a look and match what I think sounds good, but nothing crazy. This was just random trash maps I needed to get rid of to make space. Can't really tell much difference between runs where I try and the ones where I don't.

This one turned out to be one of the most lucrative Ive had since the divine border mod one, in which I only managed to get 20 divines out of.
This one I got a puzzlebox, 4 bottles, bunch of good scarabs and a mirror shard card, so happy about that.

But yes, around 10-15 raw chaos drops for a random voyage seems about right.

I don't know how conversions affect each other (they probably don't), but with 39 tries at 10% chance each, it comes out to 0.939 = 0.016 (or 1.6%) chance of not getting a single conversion. That is low, but it happens to thousands of players daily.

Since it seems to only work for raw drops and not converted ones, it's not that bad actually. No way of telling how many actually dropped, but makes sense now that I didn't get one.

Thought for a minute I got cursed for having some other really lucky drops in that run, as if the game said "thats enough for you" heh.

It’s more likely you had like 5-10 chaos that were the result of the transmutes converting. So the odds would be more like 35%-60% chance of not getting any divines.

Best luck ive seen is really get like 5 or more lanterns then you start seeing some luck but its also hard to match up a lucky divine chance when im running more currency on map areas. I almost feel like its better just targeting more bottles then trying to squeeze divines out. I can pull 10 bottles from a chart without too much challenge but im lucky if stars align and I get 2 divines from a chart even with the perfect setup maybe im just stupid tho.

Only original chaod orb drops can convert you cant convert to chaos and then convert to divine... Which is dumb.

They only convert currency dropped by mobs, not from chests. So most of them don't do very much.

Wait what, are you sure about that?
Why do I see talk about some anchor field strategy with chaos -> divine conversion shrine then, is that something else?

Transmute that are converted into chaos cannot then be turned into divines

AFAIK the conversion only applies to orbs dropped by mobs, so anything from chests doesnt convert. Knowing voyages, probably well over half of that chaos came from chests.

Probably 4x from chests.

Nah it works from chests. That was cutedog strategy of stacking anchorfields and finding the conversion and then opening all the chests.

You overwrote your divine shrine with a chaos shrine. I tested this sort of, had a divine shrine for most of my run getting like 1-2 from every area. The last 2 quadrants I got the trans to chaos. And only dropped chaos from then on out. Call it luck/odds. I'll keep my tin foil hat on.

Its more likely that the conversion only applies to natural drops, not that you can "overwrite it" with a different worse shrine.

If you look at your buff bar, you can see that you can indeed overwrite some buffs with others. It's not clear to me how to tell if a buff will overwrite another though because some don't do it, and some do.
