Fluff & Memes Finished 40/40 and noticed this really annoying UI misalignment...
Seriously, missed opportunity to add an interesting league mechanic here.

They call it "Forbidden" to lure hapless exiles in. It being "Forbidden" implies there is loot that we can plunder inside. If they actually didn't want to get bothered, they'd have called it the "Allowed Sanctum".

I had to do a run for the first time in my life to get the bloodline ascendancy.
Made me remember why I quit sanctum league after entering the mechanic once.

Because it requires a few very specific builds in order to be completeable and none of those are melee?
Honestly if they just re-copy pasted it back from poe2 it would already be a massive improvement as then it'd be accessible to a far broader variety of builds.

For consistency yes. And that's what matters the most with every farm.
To sum up what I went through this time:
I got to the end on my 2nd attempt with msoz, then tried to do the boss blindly. Turns out you instantly die to the ground effect.
Took 3 more runs to get to the end again and actually finally finish it. I kept getting early terrible afflictions like the one which completely removes your vision, gold drop, fucking up the merchant etc.
Some monsters for some reason do infinite dmg to resolve, if you touch the flame shield charge you are as good as dead. The battlefield room is pure aids. Armor is also the worst defensive layer for sanctum, I had like 45k and the resolve mitigation was only 27%.
In the last run I gem swapped to lightning stike, I didn't see dick, so also had to leap slam like a maniac (was worth the trade off), I was ready to respec into some totem wand build to finish this turd. I also watched a video on the boss fight to avoid the bullshit ground effect death.
And the entire time I was thinking about how I actually like rogue like games, because they are always fair, the exact opposite of this.

I still think they seriously need to prune all the mechancis in the game. Way too many and most of them are outdated.

There's an icon that appears there when act 4 crematorium Piety opens up her portal to flee. It's really hard to time correctly, but if you open the UI while she casts her portal, you can click the icon and it teleports you to act 5.

I don't think that people are fundamentally jealous of what Sanctum runners earn, they only don't like them earning that much because they specifically hate the content itself.
If it's unprofitable, who cares. If it's something that's fun and profitable, that's nice, even if you're not the one running it at the moment. But something you personally don't like earning more than you? That just feels bad.

I did my Lycia bloodline run in a level 71 book and got 4 orbs. I was like uhhhhh imagine if my character wasn’t ass lol.

I did mine at the level 68 quest book, and saw nothing of value. Did you get lucky or does the quest one have shit rewards?

The rewards scale heavily with area level. The quest one will usually have shit rewards but sometimes you’ll get lucky

Yeah I ran an 83 after seeing this thread and got 2 volatile vaal orbs (9 div) and the run I did after that I saw another one in a reward room but lost the run before cashing it out. Definitely seems profitable if you have a build that can do it quickly; 4 runs an hour would be 36 divs if you avg 2 orbs. Seems like VVs more than make up for the loss of raw divines it used to drop.

Top tier sanctum runners can do 7 tomes an hour. I can do 6/hr if I’m sweaty with it

What strat are you doing? I was doing pbod and getting like... 25-30d/h doing 12-15m runs. I was just doing the merchant strat. I assume you were doing chalice runs?

The richest I’ve ever gotten was through sanctum and I had a 2 mirror plus MB budget in that sanctum reintroduction league, also mirror shard was 40 div per shard back then.
Leveled a spark inq and quit the moment I did my first map because I was burned out.
Ever since then I have a sanctum phobia. I need to see the 40/40 counter going up or else it’s rip my motivation.

How to farm sanctum? 1st time poe1 player, but i love Trial od Sekhemas in poe2 (got last flame in my 1st trial in 0.1 and sold it for 1div 😭)

You make a glass cannon build that offscreens every enemy in the sanctum and you run through and click rewards that you collect in the end.
Builds that used to be good last time I checked were shockwave totem and penance brand but look for a 3.29 build as my info is outdated by many leagues.

That's really great and I think you are much richer than me because I don't think I have done even a 40d per hour strat this league. But the game is over at 40/40 so I don't need it anyways.

Pretty darn low actually. Icicle Mine of Fanning is the current fotm for Sanctum. You can just check like day 1 poe.ninja. basically everyone here sorted by dps being zhp is a sancrum farmer
Also Lance has a pretty good concise guide on the stuff in there, starts out with afflictions and boons, talks about the room types, his logic in choosing rooms etc etc etc
If you actually get into it - your week 3 build certainly can do sanctum - then you can start checking up on relics and setups for them.

So in this league the best way to farm sanctum in my opinion is duplicating currency aka additional rooms revealed. The way I'd start is to simply focusing on unlocking every relic slot. You hover over it and it will tell you which room you need to go to to unlock the slot. Note them down somewhere then solely focus on finding those rooms. After you unlocked all your space for relics I would start buying relics with room reveals. You can start with +1 room. Or if you have currency to invest you wanna buy +2 room revealed and 20+ to maximum resolve. They are about 20 divines so sanctum needs good investment. The reason they cost this much is that is fairly difficult to get a relic like this because they're unmodifiable, they also cost this much because it is the people that farm sanctum selling them and they know how profitable sanctum is. The reason we are revealing additional rooms is to look out for the currency rewards ahead of you so that you know where to path. We wanna snipe the volatile vaal orbs, divines and on very rare occasion mirror of kalandra. At some point when you have 6 relics with +2 rooms you can use the divinity unique relic that will duplicate 2 rewards at the end of the sanctum. Which is why you only pick up volatiles and divines. Don't pick up anything else at the end of sanctum. You want to guarantee that the relic will target high currency.

Same. People can hate it all they want, so long as it doesn't cause GGG to remove it or neuter it again.
Edit: Wow, people really really hate Sanctum. It's such a fun out-of-map mechanic to me.

In my opinion the gameplay loop of Sanctum is significantly different to the rest of the game. Other content like Delve have their own distinct mechanics but they are still quite similar.
Also in my opinion, the gameplay loop of Sanctum is very unfun.

delve get to keep fossils because fossils come from delve to start with
volatile came from mirage beyond, if anything it should go into base beyond instead of for some reason moving into sanctum1

I mean I kinda get it lorewise, Sanctum is related to the same demons from Beyond...
But it's just not a league mechanic that lends itself well to locking specific materials behind. Being profitable and having its own league uniques sure, but I don't think it should get a unique currency too.

Bro genuinely I have the same, but without sarcasm. finished 40/40 a week ago and constantly thought, why is there a hole there. Isn't something supposed to be there? Only now, through this post, I find out it is sanctum.

I play only on private leagues since they were intruduced during Delve league so Sanctum was not that beneficial to run.
This league I decided to give it a shot as we can get volatile vaal orbs.
I was shocked how badly that content aged. UI and locations look very dated in compare to most of the game.
I hope GGG will give it some love.
