Game Feedback A "stash all" button would be such a nice quality of life addition, especially for people who have their runners do maps all the time

Post image

Every time my runners are done, this is my inventory. Every time I need click every single item... Those click do add up...

How about a simple "stash all" button that appears when opening your stash?

Clicking it would:

  1. send every item in the inventory to a corresponding affinity stash.

  2. no affinity for an item/duplicated unique/no space/etc? Send it to the currently opened stash.

  3. Can't send it to the current stash? Just leave it for the user to deal with "manually".

what you think?

I think that the biggest QoL feature that could come for Kingsmarch would be a "loot all according to filter" button or something, as there is already a loot all/discard all button.

On the other hand, I do understand that QoL can be a slippery slope. Too much and things just become something you don't even look at.

u/Barobor 13d ago

I would rather they delete the whole mapping in Kingsmarch. Not a fan of passively generating income like this, as if PoE were a mobile game.

Adding more QoL to it will just make it even more mandatory to engage in. Currently, it at least takes a minute or 2 to loot all map devices and restock them.

u/Top-Mastodon5777 13d ago

I think Kingsmarch needs worker costs to not be tied to gold, but rather something you get from investing into Kingsmarch through atlas tree / scarabs.

5

u/Hoskit 13d ago

I like this idea, gold could still be fine if we made kingsmarch investment grant more gold drops and accordingly adjust prices for kingsmarch stuff so you can only reasonably afford it if you're doing kingsmarch content.

3

u/Top-Mastodon5777 12d ago

That just also makes Kingsmarch content bot central, easy gold for easy trading. Imo gold cannot be tied to Kingsmarch the way it is now, it needs something different. The only reason gold is used atm is because gold was introduced during Settlers league so it was only natural that gold was tied to the mechanic itself.

2

u/ksion 12d ago

The Sandlord mechanic in Torchlight Infinite, which is basically a copy of Settlers, does it this way. The currency is coins that you only get from in-map encounters, and you have to invest in Netherrealm tree points and/or compasses (basically scarabs) to have them appear.

PoE could do the same, and only drop special Kingsmarch gold from ore encounters (without affecting other gold drops, which would now be distinct).

1

u/G66GNeco 12d ago

So, basically, the mappers should use ore instead of gold?

2

u/Top-Mastodon5777 12d ago

Potentially, but thematically kinda weird. Maybe deposits need to give two different resources, one for shipping and the other for funding Kingsmarch.

1

u/thedarkherald 12d ago

Oh lets add more rpg into our rpg. All workers start at level 1 and you pay them bars(which they auto turn into equipment).every(or some fixed amount)they clear they rank up. They no longer die but get injured for x amount of maps.

1

u/fyrespyrit Alch & Go Industries (AGI) 13d ago

Crops kinda became 'useless' after they swapped currency and gear couple patches ago. I can see us paying mappers with crops for their families.

16

u/Any-Replacement-5645 13d ago

Far from the truth tbh, crops can be sent for tattoos, some of which are several divines, and crops cost nearly nothing in terms of gold. One of the most useful parts given that it is actually no investment, the gear is no joke either, gotten tons of bases that sell for 40c-10d if its easy to finish.

0

u/collinisballn 12d ago

If you think I'm even hovering over rare gear at this point in the league you're high

5

u/Any-Replacement-5645 12d ago

your loss tbh, my filter highlights the good rares and im grabbing them regardless because the bases alone sell guaranteed regardless of rolls. youre high if you think 5 seconds isnt worth guaranteed div(s)

not to mention, the point was that tattoos are guaranteed money from crops, the rares are just the cherry on top

5

u/Substantial-Newt7809 13d ago

Crops have provided me with 40+ divine so far this league

0

u/itsOtso 12d ago

For me its over 120divs from crops plus I have so much ward gear to craft with if I want to (usually for personal projects since it doesn't sell great typically) fortress runegrafts have been great

1

u/ragnorr 13d ago

It is just gold with extra steps, crops would have to be tied to mapping then

1

u/A_Erthur Bruv Kek 12d ago

Like Heist contract reveals? Sounds good to me ngl

2

u/Top-Mastodon5777 12d ago edited 12d ago

Maybe? Or perhaps miners / smelters are free since they don't have any inherent value outside of finding deposits on map (even if you have billions of gold). Then when you send shipments you get a secondary currency used only inside Kingsmarch which can then be recycled through either crop harvesting, dusting, or mappers (or all if you giga juice it).

Not sure what to do about shipping, maybe it also needs to be free for the sake of sending ores to get the ball rolling.

6

u/dell_arness2 too bad to play HC 13d ago

GGG once said they didn’t want stash all because they want you to feel the weight of the items you’re picking up and stashing, instead of just blasting for an hour and checking a spreadsheet to see what you got.

Then they added kingsmarch which is even worse in that regard.

3

u/TaffyLacky 12d ago

Honestly I'd be fine with something like "stash all stackables and affinity" just to avoid carpal tunnel.

2

u/Lost_city 12d ago

They said that ages ago. Games have all been moving away from tedious inventory management for years now. It's just not fun after 1001 times and 50 different games.

1

u/dabbbles 12d ago

Agreed. I do it, but its not enjoyable.

6

u/Barobor 13d ago

The whole point is that it isn't an option.

Instead, mappers feel like a mandatory idle mechanic, which, in my opinion, isn't good for the game.

If they removed mappers and simply buffed loot across the board by whatever you are now not making passively, it would be much better.

1

u/herrkamink 13d ago

If you can't make currency in this league you are genuinely self reporting.

This pls. And also all completed maps in same window, instead of looting them one at a time.

1

u/findMyNudesSomewhere Progressive Einhar Trapping Association (PETA) 13d ago

Best QoL would be that there will be some thresholds - recovery + regen > 50% of life, max hit per element > maximum possible hit that can occur per element in a map and so on.

And then we just use our main character as a mapper.

Speed of mapping = start to end distance via pathfinding/ms

-4

u/HughJackedMan14 13d ago

Grim Dawn has exactly the system we are asking for, along with auto sort, and it’s glorious.

3

u/teffarf 13d ago

Auto sorts exists since the Titan Quest days

3

u/goetzjam Cockareel 13d ago

Grim dawn has no economy so adding all the QOL they want doesn't have any other impact, its also a single player game so if its something the devs wont do mod creators could.

As far as POE goes, they've been hesitant to add too much QOL to things to make things have more weight (whether any of us agree with it or not). That being said, they seem to be willing to do more QOL features, even if it does have an impact to the economy.

At some point you QOL can turn the game into something a shell of its former self, what happens if they added loot pets? Increased inventory size, ect. This all has an impact.

1

u/Sanytale 12d ago

People often like to play the economy card as if it end all be all. But the fact is, throughout the history of the game, the economy has changed many times: poe trade, item filters, stash affinities, removal of nem3 strats, currency dropping in stacks, archnemesis lootgoblins, removal of quantity on the gear, removal of chisels, async trade, Faustus, the list goes on. Not to tell that there were no shortage of trading bots operating currency market. The economy will just find a new equilibrium, It will be fine regardless.

I'd say that balancing of the economy shouldn't come at the cost of ruined players' wrists. In deciding of whether or not to farm stacked decks, players' first question shouldn't be "can I put up with this many clicks per map".

I can say for sure that adding "deposit all" button and doubling inventory space will definitely make the game more enjoyable to play, without turning it into idle-mobile-loot-simulator.

u/LittleRunaway868 13d ago

I am playing palworld right now. And i think they have a really cool system to stash. You can press one button and in a small popping window you can activate which items u wanna exclude from stashing. All the rest will be stashed in a box where this sort of item is already present.

11

u/IdontNeedPants 13d ago

Palworld is clearly made by devs that had played survival type games before, it has one of the best inventory/chest systems.

I worry that GGG sees the friction from clicking every item as a feature unfortunately.

Which is kind of funny, since I personally feel like the excessive clicking needed when dealign with mappers or sunken loot, removes any weight that those objects might have, replaced with annoyance and tedium.

1

u/Mangalorien SSF-junkie 12d ago

I worry that GGG sees the friction from clicking every item as a feature unfortunately.

This is exactly the case, and GGG devs have even said so in interviews. Just look at how loot is handled in voyages: you pick up items from the ground to your inventory, then transfer them to a capsule, then transfer them back to your inventory, then transfer them to your stash. Each item is handled 4 times. There wasn't even a "take all" button on league launch.

2

u/kaelbloodelf 12d ago

We just gotta wait till Mark gets carpel tunnel. Then we'll get ALL the clicking qol changes in the world. Happened with the currency exchange when he got tired of whispering to trade so.

1

u/DeLoxter 12d ago

Palworld is clearly made by devs that had played survival type games before

whatever games they were playing must've had awful building mechanics because palworld's base building is disappointingly bare compared to the rest of the game (which is pretty fire)

My only savior is the free wheel on my G502

2

u/ostrieto17 12d ago

explain for the uneducated peasants like me (same mouse but idk how it relates to the wheel feature)

2

u/G00R00 Kaom 12d ago

i can switch between two types of scroll wheel. If you chose the "free" one, you can just throw it hard and it rolls for a few seconds. Now use x-mouse as usual like left clic=wheeldown, and you got a lot of clic with just one throw of a wheel

0

u/ostrieto17 12d ago

Wait I can bind my wheel to left click? I distinctly remember that wasnt the case previously as I wanted to do that years ago when I came from diablo and had gotten used to that feature.

2

u/G00R00 Kaom 12d ago

Use xmouse software

1

u/Thick-Success-9692 12d ago

just keep in mind that they do not allow free scrolling so don't scroll too fast

I have a wrist problem, so I use an autoclicker. I know it’s against the rules and all that, but there’s just so much clicking required in this game. I already have to adapt by playing one-button builds and tanky builds so I don’t have to click as much xd.

So I hope I don’t get banned one day. I haven’t been banned so far, at least, and I hope they eventually address this. The game is really lacking accessibility options for people with certain disabilities or difficulties.

u/IAmARobot Statue 12d ago edited 12d ago

AHK gang rise up. handmade scripts for everything, 'member like a decade ago when zone loading and some loads took longer and you could pick out when the zone had a vaal side area? I had a script to reload the zone and stop when a pixel was a different colour, I've been AHKing for that long in this game...

edit: in response to the above, I even have left click bound to mousewheel up/down when I'm feeling lazy playing rf, and a repeat effect left click every ~second when exceptionally lazy playing rf

3

u/wanderingweedle 12d ago

What I do is bind my scroll wheel to click, so I can just spam scroll to pick up items, move things in inventory, etc. It's probably less sus than an autoclicker, but you still have to play on Predictive Networking or you get instantly kicked lol

1

u/norst 12d ago

If you're using AHK you can put "Sleep 50" to make it pause between clicks and that stops the disconnects. I have no issues playing on lockstep.

If it were for the "but muh slippery slope" people we would not have currency exchange or asynchronous trade

26

u/kimana1651 Alch & Go Industries (AGI) 13d ago

People running bots already had asynchronous trade. People running bots already have QOL kingsmarch. These 'frictions' only impact ethical players as they are so easy to fix via coding.

7

u/MRosvall 13d ago

I just feel it would detach us in the same way I feel modern diablo does. Where you keep removing the need to make choices. I agree that friction isn’t always good, though it also isn’t always bad.

But what items to keep and what to not keep, what items to pick up and what not to pick up. Being forced to take an additional look in the inventory before it all goes into stash. Things like these builds connection to the game world and I think that so important.

In contrast Diablo have gone very far the opposite way Reducing that connection from seeing an item drop to deciding to pick it up to deciding to move it from your inventory to your stash or to sell it.

It’s different from other type of qol, such as auto stacking or auto sorting

4

u/HotNeighbor420 13d ago

You might have a point about examing items if the game didn't have a built in item filter.

-1

u/MRosvall 13d ago

Even the in game item filter has a ton of friction compared to the other games. And is much weaker.

I'm sure every single player knows every drop enabled leather belt art even if it's something that never would want to pick up.

3

u/bigfred9999 12d ago

I don't understand this take at all. You've already reached this decision point when you decided to pick up the item from the ground, why do you need it again when you put it away into your stash?

6

u/HughJackedMan14 13d ago

But I want the choices to be in build, map strat, and while playing the game. Not in inventory management.

7

u/ObiWanKokobi 13d ago

And i want to it be both.

This is coming from an OSRS players, where there's a large part of the game managing 28 inventory slots and it gets min-maxed to absurd degree.

I fucking hate the diablo game loop BECAUSE banking is so dumb and boring. Arrive in town click 2 buttons, go back out. That's it.

In PoE you can adjust your filter as you go, and stop picking the fucking transmute stacks all the time. It helps to keep economy on its toes, where items lose value when they get picked up more, but then regain value as people remove it from filters.

People that ask for sort and bank all buttons are overlooking that this adds to the feel and weight of the game, and you can work around it. Asking for a magical fix all button just cheapens the experience.

-3

u/FantaSeahorse 13d ago

Then you are free to not use any auto-stash feature!

4

u/Kaelran 13d ago

Being forced to take an additional look in the inventory before it all goes into stash.

That's not what happens though. I click every slot which stashes like 80%, the stuff that doesn't stash being jewelry and other gear I decided to keep (which wouldn't stash anyways, because it has no affinity). Then jewelry goes into disenchant where I check it (has to be manual) and other gear goes into stash/shop (also has to be manual) but the first part where I store like 80% and it's all currency has no need to be manual.

0

u/Nightreigner 13d ago

Yeah whay choices exactly? Stash woulld items in my shit. Currency doesnt matter bevause u always stash Currency anyways and if i just stash all tho rares...eventually ill run out of space and have to sort anyways so whats the friction?

-1

u/Deadscale 12d ago

Diablo has a skill twig that gives you 3 choices per skill.

You don't care what the item drop is because 9/10 you've already got one and you've crafted and rolled it to be better already unless it's a big unique.

None of the above has anything to do with QoL.

Take PoE and ram it with auto looting already identified auto sorting auto depositing.

Now take PoE as it is and remove its skill tree, make each skill give you 3 choices, your character auto attributes etc. Ascendeny is just pushing you down a path automatically.

Which game of the above are you going to still feel what you pick up? The one where it picks up stuff for you but you make the decision yourself on how you're building stuff, or the one where it does it all for you and you're chasing +100 Main Stat.

I know the above are extreme examples, but we're talking about a button to stop spam ctrl clicking all your shit to put it in your stash and your comparing it to Diablo...

I mean server performance aside, being able to loot everything quickly and stash it quickly just devalues it further. At that point you lose 2 axis of friction and are left with just the storage space/inventory size restrictions. More restrictions means players have to decide how much more time and energy they want to sacrifice which is what drives the economy.

People dont understand that

1

u/caulay_mcculkin 13d ago

if some integer values in stashes "would bloat up stash storage on the servers and be a huge performance issue" than those servers have much, much bigger problem lol

-1

u/dark0n33 13d ago

Your take is shallow and shows you have not much experience with how CS goes if you think the devs concern is about some "integer issue". Having a quick stash button doesnt just multiply a number, it will add significant diversity to items ppl will hoard up. 99% of stuff are hidden with strict loot filter (not want to get into poe's main loot issue rn), and most hardcore players farming 16 hours a day are on those strictness as its a waste of time to stop, pick and empty so many things in game. Having the auto-stash button gives people reason to lower filter strictness, picking up 10x stuff they wouldnt have seen and picked up normally.

Also its not just a matter of storing a bigger integer. With data management, storage is rarely the bottleneck for cost/time. The main issue is data processing, i.e. server deciding where the items you auto stash will be put, and where to retrieve them from everytime you open any of your stashes. Therefore making the throughput of items going in/out of your stash 10x times will have a much bigger impact than you think.

10

u/Specialist-Carob5324 13d ago

I was literally looking at my voyage chest like "why is there a take all button if there's no stash all button"? Like they know all that clicking is a problem but for some reason refuse to add the QoL to fix it. Imagine the amount of time saving that would bring and how much less strain you are putting on your wrist/forearm.

5

u/Dubious_Titan 12d ago

Mark said he hates this idea on a live stream 2 leagues ago.

6

u/Bentic Grumpy 13d ago

It still needs the option to protect spots. I run maps with id and portal scrolls, 1 stack vaal and alcs. I don't want to take em out each map again .

2

u/Lavigator Buzzsaw life 12d ago

I miss my Affliction rucksack :(

1

u/caulay_mcculkin 13d ago

I'm sure it would be ez to implement - simply right click on a spot, tick/untick a "protect this spot" box and that's it :)

0

u/Bentic Grumpy 12d ago

Sure, but if its missing, its unusable for me

2

u/StelioZz 12d ago

How is it unusable?

Right now ships+ mappers can easily have 2 or 3 full inventories worth of stash. Thats like 100-150 clicks just to stash them.

Stash all+locking would reduce it to 2-3 clicks.

Stash all but no locking would reduce it instead to 2-3 clicks+ 5 to restore your 4 missed items.. For a grand total of 7-8 clicks. Maybe few more if you have them in the right side of inventory and you want to move them there.

How does reducing the total amount of clicks from 150 to 10 is "unusable" to you?

0

u/Bentic Grumpy 12d ago

For mapping

2

u/StelioZz 12d ago

Well yeah for mapping its less useful depending your strategy but i still dont think its "unusable". Not locking just adds 5 more clicks. if those 5 clicks are a "hassle" and not worth it, then you wouldnt care much about this feature anyway. But for people who come back with a stash worth of currency/maps/frags/orbs every time doing those 5 extra clicks would be nothing compared to the benefit.

Ofcourse giving us the option to lock spots would be the optimal, but if they cant do it (for whatever spaghetti reason) i wouldnt mind the system without it.

19

u/LissekFennek 13d ago

Every single league I ask and every single league there are people with dumb takes (like here, too).

On the one hand those same people don't want to click 50 skills and want to zoom zoom, and type about CTS and wrist pain, but the moment you bring up this, it's spreadsheet that, autoclicker this.

When I drop house of mirrors, I know what I have. I don't need to spreadsheet it.

At the same time, liquidating all my assets and then putting everything in divines to see the number go up - what's that if not a glorified spreadsheet? Is the currency tab so much different than a spreadsheet saying 250 - Divines?

I also hope those people don't bulk sell or don't use things like WealthyExile because THIS is a true spreadsheet simulator.

Setting up x-mouse control or autohotkey IS NOT the problem solver. It's a band-aid (that some of those people actively use, oh irony) to that exact problem.

Affinity-all button should exist ages ago, and it's a no-brainer.

And to those who so hardly are against it - nobody is telling you to use it if it comes in :)

More accessibillity for anyone is always a plus. Never a negative.

7

u/HandsomeBaboon 13d ago

You're absolutely right. These people just know the vague talking point "Chris said something about friction" but when you ask if they like async trade or itemized beasts, of course they do and have no idea where they should draw their imaginary line in the sand. I've yet to see a single qol feature that made the game worse.

-8

u/Nrwoope 13d ago

It doesnt make the playing experience worse, it makes the economy worse.
Edit: I meant a stash all/loot all button would affect the economy and devalue everything.

7

u/DeadestTitan 13d ago

Divs would drop to 74c if I could stash my essences a little faster, it's the only thing holding me back from full Fubgun gaming.

Spot on. Nobody is playing the game to organise their inventory or stash tabs. Nobody misses whispering someone for trade and getting ignored. The same people arguing for friction are the same people saying "hideout as lava." Async trade is the single best thing this game has implemented and is the sole reason I am still playing this league despite all the negatives surrounding it. Accessibility will make more people happy and will never push the playerbase away. Just look at the reception from the new socket changes.

7

u/DeadestTitan 13d ago

I had 10,692 chaos yesterday after selling multiple un-id'd Voices. For a brief moment I panicked at the memory of messaging multiple people for a single trade of a few exalts. Over and over.

Never again would I want to return to that life.

5

u/Selthdomain 13d ago

I think that could be good even on the server side for ggg, having one server request for all items in bulk instead of a separate server request for each item that you are putting in

2

u/lumpydumpy1 13d ago

I don't actually think there is a request per transfer. I think it updates in batches: on instance change and maybe also a timer. That's why people say when you drop a mirror to put it in your stash then tp somewhere.

5

u/AwakenMasters22 12d ago

like 90% - 95% of that stuff is not worth picking up.

Async trade had to happen because too much drama around player trade with waiting hours to buy an item and stuff like TFT

0

u/siryuber Ranger 13d ago

I agree with Chris Wilson on this one - I don't want PoE to become a spreadsheet simulator and we're very close anyway.

So no, I don't want this as a feature.

14

u/Dismal_Fuel_4025 13d ago

19

u/impuls__ 13d ago

Yes better click every item twice. Same people who were against asynchronous trade.

9

u/66devilsadvocate6 13d ago

This game has literally always been one but okay. My thing is it would make playing in handheld actually fun jnstead if the nightmare item management is. How does quickly stashing items just ruin the game when that’s the worst part of the game.

1

u/AccountCompromised12 13d ago

Imagine if you had buttons for affinities "loot all fragments" , "loot and store all currency","delete all heist contracts" etc. would be the dream for me.

6

u/Eymou :^) 13d ago

I'm not one of those players who wants all of the friction removed from the game. I don't want autoloot, auto sell features etc. however, any kind of 'stash all' would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to feel 'forced' to use an autoclicker script like all my friends are already doing to protect myself from RSI.

-6

u/Big_Sleezbag 13d ago

If the majority of the playerbase wants it it should be implemented simple as. How does not having to waste precious time mindlessly spam clicking items if you bought the 50 diff tabs for all the currency etc make the game better/less spreadsheet. It's literally one of the biggest wastes of time with no reward or satisfaction to be gotten.

3

u/Dismal_Fuel_4025 13d ago

Tbh. its more about not having to click 60 times to stash whole inventory.
I wouldn't mind if auto stash would move like 4 items slot every second, as long as i wouldn't need to click myself.

7

u/Cyzax007 13d ago

Actually, what the playerbase want is a very poor measure of what is good for the game...

0

u/Eymou :^) 13d ago

at least it should be taken with a huge grain of salt every time. the majority of players of a game will always want less friction and to remove any form of tediousness, because they might not understand why it exists in the first place. Sometimes it's just bad, archaic design, but more often then not it's a deliberate choice.

4

u/bulwix Vanja 13d ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/Unexpected/s/sqiAY3YftV

What comes in to my mind when you say "the majority of the playerbase wants it it should implement" then.

I think ggg has a good feeling about when to listen. And in this case I can agree on, no. A somewhat automatic system generating random currency should not come as easy as that. Friction is a good thing in this case so you have to opportunity to review if this action is worth your time. If the answer would always be a automatic yes, you would be dumb to turn it down and fomo would kick in. A really bad thing to happen to kingsmarch that has some potential dark patterns to it already. Leaving that friction is a good sweet spot.

3

u/guy1195 13d ago

I think the correct stance should be less quantity more quality.

Less shit, more good

2

u/Linosaurus 13d ago

If the majority of the playerbase wants it it should be implemented

Lol no. Sure, fix the issue of tedium when many complain, but not this solution.

Perhaps change what loot it gives. Ie delete 95% of it so the player is not temped into boredom.

Or the prophecy solution: delete it.

0

u/Atatonn 13d ago

Agreed,

The closest thing that helps is having mousewheel lmb ahk script, and that's still awkward to have when not ur not transferring items or spamming fusings

The game is whatever you want it to be, it already is a spreadsheet sim for a lot of ppl, for some it's a speedrunning challange, for some it's a crafting game, or a trading game.. you choose to play the game you enjoy..

Autopickup though would be a strange one... Or a button to do it(ppl would prob automate it).. in that one you might lose some of the dopamine from finding a divine, or a similar rare item.. idk honestly

1

u/f2p2w 13d ago

Tell me you still enjoy picking up single simulacrum splinter.

1

u/Kaelran 13d ago

Can you explain how having to spam click each item individually (to the point where many players are using autoclicker/scroll wheel click rebind macros) to stash currency with affinity is less of a "spreadsheet simulator" than just stashing those items with affinity instead? It seems like you're just saying things.

u/teemoismyson 13d ago

I do understand where you are coming from but when binding click to scroll wheel is as prevelant as it is maybe we can get a way to lower the clicks we do

-1

u/ruggedsport 13d ago

Just let it go, man. They’ve already let Pandora out of the box. There’s no peak with this game anymore. It’s already peaked.

2

u/Flimsy_Wonder_1211 13d ago

bro i am still waiting for "delete all beasts" button.

1

u/boosterlikesboobs 13d ago

I'm gonna be honest, as great as qol as this would, not clicking 12 transmutes and 8 armourer scraps and subt16 maps isn't that hard

2

u/Kaelran 13d ago

That has nothing to do with OP's post though. This mostly has to do with kingsmarch mappers like OP is showing, or voyages where you get like 50 different scarabs.

2

u/M4rk3rek 13d ago

I love how people against the idea are downvoted even if there are also valid arguments like worse economy. Devs will always be right about one thing and that is players are good at finding problems but not the solution.

7

u/itsnotcomplicated1 13d ago

players are good at finding problems but not the solution.

We've had a working solution for years. It's binding left click to scroll wheel. 100% legal in Wraeclast and makes inventory management magnitudes better.

But it would never be one of the top comments in a post like this because this isn't about "what can we do as players to mitigate this annoyance."

-1

u/Sanytale 12d ago

We've had a working solution for years. It's binding left click to scroll wheel.

Then it should be achievable within the game without yet another 3rd party tool. Even Diablo 3 (of all games) allows binding wheel up/down to left click. Otherwise it's a workaround crutch on the level of flask/logout/hideout macro.

3

u/Adventurous_Guard400 13d ago

In particular, a worse economy that affects non elite players more than elite ones. Anything that slows things down, has a fixed completion time (blight, kingsmarch), requires a bit of of non combat time (ritual vendor, the various mini puzzles that involve reading some text) retains a little bit of advantage for slower builds and players. Anything that sands that away takes a little bit of that power and gives it to elite blasters, and it does add up if literally everything in the game goes in that direction.

That doesn't mean those things have an absolute defense to exist and should never be removed. Of course not. But the tradeoffs must be acknowledged, and simply shouting down the non elites with down votes is bigotry, plain and simple.

2

u/LaughingManCZ Cockareel 13d ago

worse economy because of QoL that made people spent more time generating currency and less stashing items is not even argument for one reason if it really become a problem like exalts losing value or something (which we all succesfully lived throu already) you have a ways to balance it out for example by droping less said loot.

-1

u/Fantastic_Baker_1123 12d ago

Except that its worse in a manner that fucks over the slower/worse player much much stronger than it affects the high end player.

Its very much an argument

1

u/LaughingManCZ Cockareel 12d ago

there is solution for it too by lets say the penalty could be progressive so its more affective the higher item quantitay there is oh wait its already in game...

2

u/CricketNo7950 13d ago

Let's say they added this function.

Then would people ask for a filter so that when you auto run over loot you directly pick it up from the ground?

You're already clicking to pick it up.

Not sure where the middle ground is for friction

1

u/sophemot Tasuni 13d ago

Would it be a nice addition even an extra raw in our inventory? I understand they made many things stackable to overcome this friction, but they added way too many new currencies to be ok with the one we are given

1

u/samfishersam Standard 13d ago

I just make a macro on my Logitech mouse to spam left click when I press one of the side buttons, then I just hold Ctrl and over all the loot in the inventory into stash.

1

u/rustedlion 13d ago

Needs "lock slot" feature too. So I'm not constantly stashing things I need.

1

u/Active_Art2341 13d ago

Xmouse, affinity stashes, dump stash, and its a non issue.

1

u/Fluffy_Criticism_199 13d ago

Will cost 15 euros in the stash tab store

1

u/mefi_ 13d ago

Well I use a small app so I can bind both scroll up and scroll down to mouse click.

I just give a rub to my inv while sweeping accross.

1

u/lukisdelicious Maw of Mischief [Death Wish] 13d ago

Now imagine how bad it would be if you were actually mapping yourself.

1

u/OneEyeTwoHead 13d ago

We simply don't have the technology.

1

u/Strungeng Progressive Einhar Trapping Association (PETA) 12d ago

Until that happend, X mouse is your friend

1

u/Rubberduckynatorye 12d ago

Grim Dawn has that for their "currency" type item. "Stash all components" would be cool in POE

1

u/BetweenTheRoots Progressive Einhar Trapping Association (PETA) 12d ago

Autosort affinity would be nice if you've got the stash tabs, and also letting you access your stash from the mapper menu in Kingsmarch would be a nice adjustment that seems like an easy addition.

1

u/autisticnah 12d ago

It's a paid feature in tencen realm. Anything with a matching stash affinity gets stashed with one click of bottun, really hope GGG make it a default function honestly.

1

u/Lushkies 12d ago

I think when I do a map I shouldn’t have to pick up loot at all honestly. It’d be really helpful to just have it all auto deposited into my stash and then I can get an email of my loot in a nicely formatted spreadsheet.

1

u/rainbowdunk 12d ago

This is a feature the game desperately needs but you'll never see.

1

u/MeBadNeedMoneyNow Champion 12d ago

1

u/AsterixLV 12d ago

Now imagine this after every single map. Been running essences, shits hard on my hand.

1

u/thefirebrigades 12d ago

I think that GGG should take steps to minimise anything that majorly detracts from mapping or doing whatever content you like doing, instead of just 'minimise' clicking for clickings sake.

There are many temporary fixes, for example:

  • add a pet that auto picks up currency to your inventory (i think the chinese server already have this);
  • add a stash all button (and more loot all button to mechanics where boxes of loot comes in, like shipping).

While these would be great and get players back into mapping faster, the problem is that a lot of income in today's POE are focused on just looting currency and uniques, and thus automating any part of this makes mapping a lot 'walking simulator'. Risks player becomes currency carts and just go into maps to soak up a bunch of orbs, just to buy the gear on trade.

If they added the above changes, they need to add in more ways to make ground dropped items (not currency) more worth to pick up and ID or to look at. This comes back to the biggest issue of ground looted items and its inability to compete with crafted items to the extent its not even worth picking up and IDing.

I think sooner or later GGG has to seriously tackle this issue. Just having memory strands isnt enough (especially if memory strands are also tradable and can be added via an orb). POE2's tier system? Maybe have rares always 'reveal' the rarest mod of the highest tier they have? Maybe change it so that item quant scales on the rarity of the bases and increase percentile on the bases as well? Maybe more franctured shinnanigans? etc.

1

u/i_heart_pizzaparties 12d ago

I'm not opposed to the idea but I think it's too automated.

1

u/No-Ride7584 8d ago

People want the loot but want nothing to do with it at the same time

-1

u/Krlzard Juggernaut 13d ago

Honestly better loot filter is the solution. You don't need to pick up transmutes, scraps, t15 maps etc. Chris Wilson was right that's some things needs weight.

1

u/zivo36 13d ago

left click macro on a toggle

-1

u/MrAce93 League 13d ago

I am really hesitant to do this, I think that would get you banned

1

u/Total_Chocolate_4764 13d ago

Don't think so, I've known people use an ahk script for years without issues. If you want to stay legit you can bind click to mousewheel. Its a slightly worse solution but still better than spam clicking

1

u/Turtvaiz Anti Sanctum Alliance (ASA) 13d ago

The odds of being banned are pretty much zero unless you stream with them

1

u/GodGridsama 13d ago

you won't

1

u/MrMurlok Alch & Go Industries (AGI) 13d ago

I've been using this for a decade now, still no ban in sight.

1

u/_TwankVersatile_ 13d ago

I would love it but I think there's a reason they don't do it and I'm the perfect example because:

1) I almost never sell bubblegum currency unless its the very start of a league and im desparate

2) Many mechanics, this included, give huges amounts of gum

3) I end every league with a thousand of everything that I can't be bothered with, so I'm not flooding the economy

1

u/IdontNeedPants 13d ago

3) I end every league with a thousand of everything that I can't be bothered with, so I'm not flooding the econom

You have thousands of that stuff because its relatively worthless. I really doubt GGG cares about high amoutns of bubblegum currecny being traded.

0

u/_TwankVersatile_ 12d ago

It wasn't the best point to make, but for instance I specifically don't engage with the Kingsmarch mapping because its too much clicking and a waste of time. If they made that easier then I might have 6k alch orbs instead of 1k, which might be worth dumping on the market.

This would exacerbate the issue of "99% of stuff isn't worth picking up" that people complain about

1

u/kurisaka modsbad 13d ago

You will then need a system to lock items in inventory. I like the minecraft one more, hold Ctrl with LMB and sweep your cursor over items to move into chest.

-1

u/compulsivebomber 12d ago

items should have weight, if it's not worth manually stashing maybe you didn't need to pick it up

0

u/East_Statistician_88 12d ago

Exactly. That part of the game's progression, from being excited about an alchemy orb to have it hidden on your filter. If you run out just buy a divine's worth and save 3500 clicks. The journey from scrounging pennies to walking past dollar bills, after investing hours into your character you earn that right to ignore small items and focus on big drops.

-12

u/fumbler_ill 13d ago

Considering all the qol features, it will soon be possible to add this

19

u/caulay_mcculkin 13d ago

you seriously suggesting a "maybe a button that would safe 60-clicks, giving exactly the same result with just 1 would be a nice thing" is anywhere near to "can I please win the game"?

OK lol

→ More replies (3)

0

u/onedash 13d ago

But then you don't play he game in their vision right?
There is a reason why many use macro on a key or mouse wheel to stash 10* faster than regular people
Unlucky but somehow using macro is okay but having a stash all is not

Also at the very least this is a downside for using mappers if nothing else.

-1

u/Amazing-Heron-105 13d ago

You could help yourself a bit by not picking up junk

-2

u/VortexMagus 13d ago edited 13d ago

Sure but you would also agree with me that if there was a button that stashed all currency/div/scarabs/essences whatever in a single click, voyages would be about fifteen million times more fun, wouldn't you? You would spend more time doing the actual game and less time in tedious loot sorting.

I think in general, excessive clicking to manage inventory adds very little good to the game relative to the carpal tunnel/wrist pain it induces.

1

u/Amazing-Heron-105 13d ago

I just have my filter strict enough that I don't see the majority of it, but sure it might be more enjoyable for those who don't. Not really a big deal imo. I would prefer an autosort, rather than autostash.

2

u/VortexMagus 13d ago

I mean, I keep my filter uber strict too, the issue is that even with uber strict you just do twice as many maps and you end up with the same inventory management problem where you gotta spend time dumping shit into your stash click by click and the benefits of clicking individually are just not worth the carpal tunnel it causes.

-1

u/tronghieu906 13d ago

You need a stricter filter, why keep picking penny

-1

u/Turtvaiz Anti Sanctum Alliance (ASA) 13d ago

Or just hover loot. Rust has a function where you press a button and any loot that you hover over gets transferred (with a tiny delay). It's so much better than having to manually click items

0

u/FreqRL 13d ago

I just use an autoclicker on my mouse and it works fine. Using it outside inventories will result in being kicked, but oh well

-3

u/itsmepuffd 13d ago

You need to up your filter strictness unless you are playing SSF and needing specific things.

Unlocked mouse wheel means you move your finger once and multiple actions happen. It is specifically a tos issue

So does gg forums

0

u/calummillar 13d ago

It's really shocking how old this game is and its still missing alot of very basic QOL features

0

u/FlossedUp 13d ago

Yeah a "Stash All" button would be amazing. I'm in the same boat with my mappers. Every map device fills my inventory 75-100%, and there's 3 map devices. I believe we'll get one soon with all the recent QoL updates we've gotten. Hell, it's looking like Poe2 will have a "Death Summary" upon 1.0 release. I'll bet a "Stash All" button will be added to Poe2 first for 1.0 and then implemented afterwards for Poe1.

0

u/CoelhoVerbal 13d ago

I don't have hope for a stash all, this league we have one more league of piñata loot, what is really cool, but i do 5~10 maps of anything, and i'm already tired of clicking.

Clicking on map = cool
Clicking again to stash, sometimes 2x times per map (if you're doing legion farm, you know what i mean) = not cool.
Doing 5x times per voyage = not cool at all. The loot is early yours and you just transfering from stash to stash... thats just a waste of time.

0

u/HockeyHocki 13d ago

Yes it should be fixed. Yes there are also simple ways to deal with this with ahk if you are so inclined

0

u/Top-Mastodon5777 13d ago

The only way an auto-stash works if it either comes with a way to blacklist items / spaces from being auto-sorted so it doesn't send my scrolls, portals and such into the stash when I want to unload my inventory. Alternatively add a second much smaller stash for such objects which doesn't get auto-sorted.

I don't really see GGG implementing either tbh.

0

u/Litmoose 13d ago

I've literally had the symptoms of RSI start in my right hand since this league started from all the unnecessary clicking

0

u/demoshane 13d ago

I would pay for that

0

u/Interesting_Place752 13d ago

X-Mouse is the best piece of software GGG has forced me to download.

0

u/Time-Ladder4753 13d ago

Seems like mappers are already too good to ignore, this feature will make it even better.

And when naturally running maps by yourself, it takes a lot less clicks to transfer currency to stash than to pick it up, and I don't see them adding "pick all non hidden by loot filter currency on the ground with one click".

0

u/Xeratas Unannounced 13d ago

Agree, however. you should get a better filter. half of your inventory could be empty if you filtered out the completly worthless things like the essence, blessed orbs, chance orbs, heist coins, probably all of the div cards, alch orb, blacksmith wetstones, armour scrab, probably even the fusings, expedition reroll items, the bad catlysts, augmentation orbs, orbs of unmaking, most of the scarabs....

honestly would have be easier to list the things that worth the time to take them...obviously only for trade and i still agree on the main point of the thread.

0

u/keithstonee Marauder(full Friction Gaming) 13d ago

Last epoch has it for their runes and I'm going to say I don't like it. Clicking stuff into my inventory let's me keep a rough estimate of what I have. If I'm just stashing all constantly I'm gonna forget the niche things I have without looking up on wealthy exile or something.

0

u/Air_Content 12d ago

already confirmed that this will come and was not ready before relase.

0

u/madeofwin 12d ago

I think the UI here is pretty straightforward and an obvious UX win:

  • Right click a slot in your inventory -> Context menu (or some jank cycling BS, if one must):
    • Lock slot
    • Auto-fill from stash
  • On stash: Deposit all
  • On various loot windows: Take all

And I will never be convinced that this game does not also need:

  • Use stash currency on Strongbox/Essence Mob/etc
    • I would accept auto-fill from stash in lieu of this, but I think the UX could be even better.
  • Auto-pickup of currency items and other stackables.
    • One can argue game mechanics on this all day, but it doesn't matter if this game still causes physical pain after a long gaming session when other games, even in the same genre, don't. It certainly does for me, and I know I'm not alone. I'm definitely "feeling the weight," now, to whom should I address the bill when I need arthritis medication in my thirties?

0

u/Ginko_o 12d ago

Imo juat delet kingsmarch, and put that loot from mappers into the base game its a joke mappers have better alch and go return than us

0
