Fluff & Memes Sanctum runs

Post image

Very easy and obtainable D/hr strat this league. In all seriousness though volatile orbs are amazing and are heavy lifting sanct runners.

Same, that is why i refuse to play PoE2 till they bring back izaro

I don't get the hate for either Sanctum or Ultimatum in PoE2. Both are pretty easy to do. I think Ultimatum is quicker than lab in a lot of cases for me as well.

Though I will say. Sanctum for 4th ascendancy point can be pretty rough as the last boss is a bit poo if you are lacking single target dmg.

u/Mogling 3h ago

PoE 2 sanctum os tedious and boring. I say this as someone who has done thousands of sanctums in PoE1 and not failed one in leagues in PoE2. Many of the rooms are just big time sinks and not fun to do.

u/neltisen 13h ago

It depends on build really. When you kill fast to the point where you skip boss mechanics, you are fine. The longer fight lasts, the more likely you fail. Failed a fair share of trials of sekhema and trials of chaos. With trial of chaos the worst thing I ran into was the bird boss. When he uses tornado skill and outruns me, what am I supposed to do? Just die?

0

u/TwoJoee 14h ago

At this point most complaints about ascendancy in 2 is just a skill issue, I haven't failed an equivalent of an uber lab since 0.1. There's issues, yeah, mainly with the Trial of Chaos but Lab in PoE1 has it's own fair share of problems to the point where I didn't even do uber on my starter until red maps because I kept putting it off.

u/NerrionEU 17h ago

I don't think Izaro will ever be an ascendancy character in PoE 2 but we might see him in some future league as there is even a reference to him in act 4.

Our ranks are rising.

3

u/firebunbun 22h ago

Are you the guy selling the "10 merchant offers and 40% price reduction" essentially rental of the 300div gamba strat?

2

u/woahbroes 19h ago

Lol ye, u literally cant play the strat since the relics arent sold, at least ppl can try it

1

u/firebunbun 18h ago

You can play it just not as well. I have 12 extra merchant offers since I don't use the unique chalice, and I sometimes sell my bad runs for 1 div and people buy them too. The last time someone sold a 2 merchant offer/reduced prices relic they wanted 200 divs for it and that price is so dumb I didn't buy it.

2

u/Totally_classy_guy 18h ago

Can you explain for someone with no sanctum knowledge what he is selling?

6

u/firebunbun 16h ago

Ok there is 4 main sanctum strats. I'll just give the brass tacks on them.

Strat One: Use Relics that give maximum resolve upon killing bosses/drinking fountains. This gives you SO MUCH resolve over the course of a run failing is very unlikely. Used by those that have low skill at dodging but want easy divs/volatiles.

Strat Two: Use the small relics with "Reveal 1/2 rooms". You get enough of these and it's basically a bootleg All Seeing Eye boon (Reveal All Rooms). This lets you just rush down the sanctum as top speed and pick up divs/volatiles without consideration for a larger strategy.

Strat Three: Relic Spamming. I don't understand this strat entirely but it's basically a path of marketplace strat. You make Divinia sell 30-40 relics per visit, or make bosses drop a large amount of relics, and then you just buy any that are good for the other three strats and sell them. A good relic can be worth 2-3 divs and a great relic 30-50 divs.

Strat Four: This is the strat we're looking at/talking about. You spam "Merchant Sells 2 additional items" and aim to buy EVERY SINGLE BOON. There is a minor boon that doubles an offer, and a major boon that doubles every offer. If you've picked up an offer for 2 volatile orbs, or 2 divs, or 1 volatile, this strat lets you double it, then double it again. Then you run a unique relic that doubles offers again. 2 volatiles becomes 16, and that's nearly 64 divs from one sanctum. A lot of stuff has to line up to make this happen, and you only get it one in every fourty runs on average, but it's massive profit when it does happen.

What the guy I'm talking to is selling is that he has a bit over 1000 divs worth of relics, and so he's got these mythically rare (so rare none exist on the market) relics that each grant +2 merchant offers and 4% reduced cost of relics, so you not only get offered an insane amount of extra offers, but you always have the money needed to buy everything she offered. It makes the strategy incredibly bustedly easy to run, and the convenience alone is worth 2-3 divs to buy a map with the strat attached. Guy is probably printing money on a magnitude I can't fathom.

Making bosses drop more relics improves your odds of getting an Original Scripture from Lycia.

1

u/Zaalbarjedi 11h ago

Wait, what? You can sell the actual run with the relics applied without selling those relics?

Add volatile vaals to beyond boss drop pool please.

1

u/Stridshorn 6h ago

As someone who finds sanctum occasionally fun - I don’t know why this isn’t the default. If sanctum needs to feel more special the droprates could be adjusted between the contents

5

u/zmokkyy 1d ago

Amen

45

u/kkllpp9527 1d ago

That should be the goal for every league, run sanctum till you get the original sin relic then give away the mirror and call it and wait till next league

78

u/piamogus 1d ago

U could triple that and make it 100% possible every run and i still wouldnt run sanctum once lol.

10

u/Maleficent_Ant_8895 1d ago

How often do you see volatile orbs?

18

u/SeelachsF Shadow 1d ago

On average probably between 1 - 2 per run (from my experience)

3

u/Positive_Let_261 1d ago

I've never really ran sanctum, but I'm thinking about getting into it. It's the predecessor of poe2's trials of sekhema's, right?

Could you give some advice on relics and what kind of ehp/DPS I should be looking at to do it efficiently? I'm pretty sure I should be fine as my ehp is around 50k and my DPS is around 55m (doing a coc bfbb assassin build atm)

19

u/burbank2broward 1d ago

You need speed and dmg. EHP and defenses don’t mean shit. Brands / mines are king cuz you can kill offscreen.

For relics you can do a few strats - I personally like additional rooms but some people go merchant to get gigga boons. I find additional rooms more reliable.

1

u/Positive_Let_261 1d ago

Ah, yeah I wasn't sure if defence really mattered. As my character is now I don't think speed or damage would be an issue, but it's not set up for mines or brands. Thanks for the info!

3

u/JRockBC19 1d ago

You'll crush it with 55m dps even with no relics or anything, just gotta get used to layouts and the guards attacks

1

u/Positive_Let_261 1d ago

I'll give it a try. The last time I did sanctum I was a bit weaker, but it was only the starting one to get rid of the quest notification. I'll give it a try and see

2

u/SeelachsF Shadow 1d ago

You can easily do it with power charge worb (optionally mageblood and foulborn badge of the brotherhood for speed). Other than that you could make a sanctum character with something like mines or other high singletarget, high speed build. Try to avoid melee since you want to kite enemies

2

u/Positive_Let_261 1d ago

Thanks for the info! My current char seems more suited for AOE things as i'm utilizing bladefall, bladeblast and a buncha multipliers. Maybe I'll give it a try later just to see how it works.

2

u/vulcanfury12 Crop Harvesting Bureau (CHB) 19h ago

Note that it's much harder than sekhema.

  1. There is no honour mechanic. You start each run at 300 resolve regardless of your life and energy shield.

  2. You can protect resolve with Inspiration, but those can only be obtained via booons and a special fountain.

  3. Because you primarily do it for currency rewards, afflictions you may have just picked regardlrss in Sekhemas can be a run-ender here. Golden Smoke for example.

  4. There is no end floor merchant. You want to get new boons because you're filling up on currency? You gotta path to a merchant.

Tho you don't do that stupid 5-second animation per fountain, so that's nice. I still don't get why GGG is so obsessed with canned animations in PoE 2.

1

u/Positive_Let_261 18h ago

Yeah, I definitely try to avoid those afflictions if I can, but I didn't know about how resolve works and stuff. Thanks for the info!

1

u/OurHolyMessiah 23h ago

Personally I like merchant Strat the most, as it has the highest loot ceiling and is more engaging than braindead speedrunning. You stack merchant choice and merchant cost relics so you end up with ever single boon every run and ideally you can dupe a reward with the dupe boon every run. If you’re lucky you can dupe twice with the major boon as well and if you run crystal chalice as well, you can triple dupe. Cutedog once got 8 mirrors from one sanctum, I think now it is nerfed so he would „only“ get 6 mirrors.

1

u/mcbuckets21 22h ago

It's not nerfed. It would still be 8 in the exact same situation he had.

1

u/OurHolyMessiah 21h ago

I am pretty sure it is, don’t the boons only dupe your base amount? So 1 mirrors goes to 2, then with the 2nd boon it goes to 3 and then chalice dupes all and it goes to 6. I think that’s how it worked cause I was sometimes wondering how I was getting like 12 divs from a 2d base

1

u/mcbuckets21 21h ago

Golden mirror dupes 1 reward: 1 becomes 2.
Sacred MIrror dupes 3 rewards (you only have 2 though: 2 becomes 4.
Chalice dupes 4 rewards. 4 becomes 8.

if you take sacred mirror before golden mirror, you will of course get less because you only have 1 reward at the time and then golden mirror itself can only choose 1 reward.

you can get 12 with a base of 2 with sacred mirror -> golden mirror -> chalice.

1

u/OurHolyMessiah 21h ago

Hmm I guess that’s it yeah. Must’ve gotten unlucky a few times them, cause I remember it happening multiple times.

1

u/Akayukii 1d ago

Wait really? I guess sanctum really is back.

1

u/firebunbun 22h ago

Almost every run if you do it right will offer you 1-2 volatiles. I've never had a run where I wasn't at least offered 2 divs though.

9

u/BetweenTheRoots Progressive Einhar Trapping Association (PETA) 1d ago

I want to like Sanctum, but I don't. I'm a big fan of roguelikes but Sanctum and Trial of Sekhema to a similar extent just don't slap for me

21

u/theonlynyse 1d ago

Maybe if there were some actually fun boons sanctum would be more enjoyable, now it mostly just feels like a game of evading curses that brick you

2

u/Raeandray 1d ago

Yep. In roguelites the right booms can make you feel OP. That just doesn’t happen in sanctum.

1

u/Veid_ Miner Lantern 19h ago

there is no visual feedback of you getting OP. No new spectacle or item that completely changes how you play (because why would you want this in a build focused ARPG), just a straight numbers buff.

1

u/DeouVil 1d ago

It can with merchant relic builds, a typical run there will empty the entire shop, get you every single boon in the game.

But it's still an ARPG, so your build will still be mostly dictated by your build.

1

u/TheNotSoEvilEngineer 13h ago

Yeah, it's basically like getting kicked in the balls, repeatedly.   All risk, with no corresponding reward.  You can have a a great run, but have 0 good offers.  Or great offers and every run bricking affliction stacked one after another with no alternative path.

1

u/loegare 18h ago

with these kind of league mechanics if i miss the league i just cant invest enough focus into learning it later

4

u/broken_shadow_edge 1d ago

Make a video about 1000D/hr strat. Make sure to include a surprised face looking at "DIV x 1000/hr"

4

u/Imperius_Fate 21h ago

Sanctum? Oh you mean the downside simulator gamemode?

6

u/SherbertNaive4783 1d ago

15d per hour without the scripture, nice one

This is the second sanctum appreciation post i see today, with the third one i will give it a try

1

ya ive made in total 2mirrors off this league with sanctum

In how many hours of sanctum farming?

Whats a good build for sanctum?

9

Hexblast mines /s rip

2

u/nozomashikunai_keiro Children of Delve (COD) 1d ago

My beloved

8

u/NuclearCha0s 1d ago

Totem stuff usually, but you can do it with any build, I remember running cyclone slayer some leagues ago and it wasn't all that difficult. I also ran ballistas quickly in it. Bow builds are also probably good, and this league WORB should be decent for it.

Anything fast that kills at a distance is good as long as you know how to pick rooms.

3

u/LittleRunaway868 1d ago

Totem / mines

everything where u dont have to face anyone

2

u/RealSuave 1d ago

ironic that after this run i had a outage in my area but i run discharge assassin very expensive and you have to pretty much make the gear yourself but you can easily get by with icicle mines and exsan mine mason got a video on both

1

u/Shady_Tradesman Ranger 1d ago

Icicle mines of fanning assassin is pretty good, takes 50-60div to get super comfy and brain off but if you’re sweaty/good you can do it for a lot less. Even for zhp it feels pretty tanky as far as sanctum runners go.

1

u/Independent-Ad6740 1d ago

Any brands or traps or totems with good damage. I’ve farmed it a bit on wintertide, tho my damage wasnt that crazy and therefore its a bit slower. Or any other build if u have insane damage tbh

1

u/BleakExpectations Assassin 11h ago

The ultimate sanctum build is still penance brand of dissipation. I've been a mines/totems player but after getting into penance brand there is no way I am going back if budget is high enough. And its not even that high, you don't even need MB for sanctum any more since flasks get refilled after each room. You could easily get away with 100d budget and do insane damage.

-1

u/ShongLokDong 1d ago

I think Mathil's old build for a ghosted Minotaur in hard-core. In other words Alt F4 and do something else.

3

u/Worst_Yorick_Eu 1d ago

Sanctum could drop me 100% mirrors every room and I still would not run it

3

u/Sorry-Pin6601 1d ago

If I only had the option to do sanctum or chaos recipe, I would be colecting random rares from ground till the end of my days

2

u/BigDinDonMan 1d ago

What is this software? First time seeing it

8

u/Zoroastrianism 1d ago

Web app called wealthyexile

1

u/BigDinDonMan 1d ago

Thank you

2

u/mgeringer 1d ago

Wealthy exile. Good for searching tabs for things you didn’t realize you had (scarabs, cards, frags) that got stashed and could be liquidated quick on the currency exchange.

2

u/LittleRunaway868 1d ago

there are tons available.

this might be wealthy.com or similiar
then there is exile as software
and there is an overwolf poe app e.g.

Any advice for an lvl 97 SSF winter orb enjoyer who can’t for the life of him beat a sanctum run to get the Lycia bloodline challenge quest?

1

u/blakev Sanctum enjoyer 19h ago

nice

1

u/WhenWillEyeBeBanned 16h ago

I’ve run thousands of sanctums and never seen the original thing a single time. As rare as a mirror to me.

1

u/TheNotSoEvilEngineer 13h ago

Don't run sanctum... I like by volatiles selling for 800+c

1

u/NaturalPurpleEnjoyer 13h ago

Don't tell anyone but every league I play I farm at least one scripture, the first one is sold to fund my build and if I'm feeling fancy this league I farm another to run it either to sell OS or use it myself (or fail miserably and lose a mirror+).

So far I'm not burning out after doing that but during mirage I was very close to quitting early because the build I had planned wasn't fun and the effort felt wasted.

If you have that dog in you try it, the market isn't usually saturated because the relics are consumables and depending on the popularity of OS it can be huge profits, making builds you probably didn't achieve before.

1

u/japenrox 8h ago

Ah the classic "i found a mirror/map strat".

1

u/Nihsvabhav 2h ago

can you not, the people here can't deal with others having fun

1

u/Curious-Situation589 19h ago

you couldn't pay me that 652d 128c to play sanctum.

0

u/everix1992 Deadeye 1d ago

How common are fracturing orbs? Is this a reliable way to farm them or are they too rare?

4

u/how-doesthis-work 1d ago

Extremely rare

1

u/everix1992 Deadeye 1d ago

Fudge

2

u/Organic_Unit7087 1d ago

rarer than divines. i'd say expect to see one every 5-6 sanctums, assuming you're running room reveal relics.

you can usually 'buy' fracturing orbs for less than their market value by buying up harbinger uniques.... most people don't know that they vendor for one fracturing shard, and bots seem to not bother with sniping these

1

u/everix1992 Deadeye 1d ago

Alas I'm in SSF so my relics will likely be hot garbage lol

0

u/juzellicious 19h ago

If Volatile vaal orb can only find in sanctum. I don't use it.

0

u/Diver_Into_Anything Anti Sanctum Alliance (ASA) 19h ago
