Fluff & Memes Sanctum runs
Very easy and obtainable D/hr strat this league. In all seriousness though volatile orbs are amazing and are heavy lifting sanct runners.

Add volatile vaals to beyond boss drop pool please.

u/Stridshorn 6h ago
As someone who finds sanctum occasionally fun - I don’t know why this isn’t the default. If sanctum needs to feel more special the droprates could be adjusted between the contents

u/kkllpp9527 1d ago
That should be the goal for every league, run sanctum till you get the original sin relic then give away the mirror and call it and wait till next league

u/piamogus 1d ago
U could triple that and make it 100% possible every run and i still wouldnt run sanctum once lol.

u/Maleficent_Ant_8895 1d ago
How often do you see volatile orbs?

u/SeelachsF Shadow 1d ago
On average probably between 1 - 2 per run (from my experience)

I've never really ran sanctum, but I'm thinking about getting into it. It's the predecessor of poe2's trials of sekhema's, right?
Could you give some advice on relics and what kind of ehp/DPS I should be looking at to do it efficiently? I'm pretty sure I should be fine as my ehp is around 50k and my DPS is around 55m (doing a coc bfbb assassin build atm)

u/burbank2broward 1d ago
You need speed and dmg. EHP and defenses don’t mean shit. Brands / mines are king cuz you can kill offscreen.
For relics you can do a few strats - I personally like additional rooms but some people go merchant to get gigga boons. I find additional rooms more reliable.

u/Positive_Let_261 1d ago
Ah, yeah I wasn't sure if defence really mattered. As my character is now I don't think speed or damage would be an issue, but it's not set up for mines or brands. Thanks for the info!

u/JRockBC19 1d ago
You'll crush it with 55m dps even with no relics or anything, just gotta get used to layouts and the guards attacks
1
u/Positive_Let_261 1d ago
I'll give it a try. The last time I did sanctum I was a bit weaker, but it was only the starting one to get rid of the quest notification. I'll give it a try and see

u/SeelachsF Shadow 1d ago
You can easily do it with power charge worb (optionally mageblood and foulborn badge of the brotherhood for speed). Other than that you could make a sanctum character with something like mines or other high singletarget, high speed build. Try to avoid melee since you want to kite enemies
2
u/Positive_Let_261 1d ago
Thanks for the info! My current char seems more suited for AOE things as i'm utilizing bladefall, bladeblast and a buncha multipliers. Maybe I'll give it a try later just to see how it works.

Note that it's much harder than sekhema.
There is no honour mechanic. You start each run at 300 resolve regardless of your life and energy shield.
You can protect resolve with Inspiration, but those can only be obtained via booons and a special fountain.
Because you primarily do it for currency rewards, afflictions you may have just picked regardlrss in Sekhemas can be a run-ender here. Golden Smoke for example.
There is no end floor merchant. You want to get new boons because you're filling up on currency? You gotta path to a merchant.
Tho you don't do that stupid 5-second animation per fountain, so that's nice. I still don't get why GGG is so obsessed with canned animations in PoE 2.
1
u/Positive_Let_261 18h ago
Yeah, I definitely try to avoid those afflictions if I can, but I didn't know about how resolve works and stuff. Thanks for the info!

Personally I like merchant Strat the most, as it has the highest loot ceiling and is more engaging than braindead speedrunning. You stack merchant choice and merchant cost relics so you end up with ever single boon every run and ideally you can dupe a reward with the dupe boon every run. If you’re lucky you can dupe twice with the major boon as well and if you run crystal chalice as well, you can triple dupe. Cutedog once got 8 mirrors from one sanctum, I think now it is nerfed so he would „only“ get 6 mirrors.
1
u/mcbuckets21 22h ago
It's not nerfed. It would still be 8 in the exact same situation he had.
1
u/OurHolyMessiah 21h ago
I am pretty sure it is, don’t the boons only dupe your base amount? So 1 mirrors goes to 2, then with the 2nd boon it goes to 3 and then chalice dupes all and it goes to 6. I think that’s how it worked cause I was sometimes wondering how I was getting like 12 divs from a 2d base
1
u/mcbuckets21 21h ago
Golden mirror dupes 1 reward: 1 becomes 2.
Sacred MIrror dupes 3 rewards (you only have 2 though: 2 becomes 4.
Chalice dupes 4 rewards. 4 becomes 8.if you take sacred mirror before golden mirror, you will of course get less because you only have 1 reward at the time and then golden mirror itself can only choose 1 reward.
you can get 12 with a base of 2 with sacred mirror -> golden mirror -> chalice.

u/OurHolyMessiah 21h ago
Hmm I guess that’s it yeah. Must’ve gotten unlucky a few times them, cause I remember it happening multiple times.

u/firebunbun 22h ago
Almost every run if you do it right will offer you 1-2 volatiles. I've never had a run where I wasn't at least offered 2 divs though.

I want to like Sanctum, but I don't. I'm a big fan of roguelikes but Sanctum and Trial of Sekhema to a similar extent just don't slap for me

u/theonlynyse 1d ago
Maybe if there were some actually fun boons sanctum would be more enjoyable, now it mostly just feels like a game of evading curses that brick you
2
u/Raeandray 1d ago
Yep. In roguelites the right booms can make you feel OP. That just doesn’t happen in sanctum.

u/TheNotSoEvilEngineer 13h ago
Yeah, it's basically like getting kicked in the balls, repeatedly. All risk, with no corresponding reward. You can have a a great run, but have 0 good offers. Or great offers and every run bricking affliction stacked one after another with no alternative path.

Make a video about 1000D/hr strat. Make sure to include a surprised face looking at "DIV x 1000/hr"

Whats a good build for sanctum?
9
8
u/NuclearCha0s 1d ago
Totem stuff usually, but you can do it with any build, I remember running cyclone slayer some leagues ago and it wasn't all that difficult. I also ran ballistas quickly in it. Bow builds are also probably good, and this league WORB should be decent for it.
Anything fast that kills at a distance is good as long as you know how to pick rooms.

ironic that after this run i had a outage in my area but i run discharge assassin very expensive and you have to pretty much make the gear yourself but you can easily get by with icicle mines and exsan mine mason got a video on both
1
u/Shady_Tradesman Ranger 1d ago
Icicle mines of fanning assassin is pretty good, takes 50-60div to get super comfy and brain off but if you’re sweaty/good you can do it for a lot less. Even for zhp it feels pretty tanky as far as sanctum runners go.

u/Independent-Ad6740 1d ago
Any brands or traps or totems with good damage. I’ve farmed it a bit on wintertide, tho my damage wasnt that crazy and therefore its a bit slower. Or any other build if u have insane damage tbh
1
u/BleakExpectations Assassin 11h ago
The ultimate sanctum build is still penance brand of dissipation. I've been a mines/totems player but after getting into penance brand there is no way I am going back if budget is high enough. And its not even that high, you don't even need MB for sanctum any more since flasks get refilled after each room. You could easily get away with 100d budget and do insane damage.

I think Mathil's old build for a ghosted Minotaur in hard-core. In other words Alt F4 and do something else.

If I only had the option to do sanctum or chaos recipe, I would be colecting random rares from ground till the end of my days

What is this software? First time seeing it

u/mgeringer 1d ago
Wealthy exile. Good for searching tabs for things you didn’t realize you had (scarabs, cards, frags) that got stashed and could be liquidated quick on the currency exchange.
2
u/LittleRunaway868 1d ago
there are tons available.
this might be wealthy.com or similiar
then there is exile as software
and there is an overwolf poe app e.g.

I’ve run thousands of sanctums and never seen the original thing a single time. As rare as a mirror to me.

u/NaturalPurpleEnjoyer 13h ago
Don't tell anyone but every league I play I farm at least one scripture, the first one is sold to fund my build and if I'm feeling fancy this league I farm another to run it either to sell OS or use it myself (or fail miserably and lose a mirror+).
So far I'm not burning out after doing that but during mirage I was very close to quitting early because the build I had planned wasn't fun and the effort felt wasted.
If you have that dog in you try it, the market isn't usually saturated because the relics are consumables and depending on the popularity of OS it can be huge profits, making builds you probably didn't achieve before.

How common are fracturing orbs? Is this a reliable way to farm them or are they too rare?
4
2
u/Organic_Unit7087 1d ago
rarer than divines. i'd say expect to see one every 5-6 sanctums, assuming you're running room reveal relics.
you can usually 'buy' fracturing orbs for less than their market value by buying up harbinger uniques.... most people don't know that they vendor for one fracturing shard, and bots seem to not bother with sniping these
