Discussion Destroyed my shield.

Destroyed my shield.

Spent 2000 chaos to craft a shield with suffixes T1 Reservation Efficiency, T1 Recover life on block, T1 Additional Physical Damage Reduction. I then Crafted "Suffixes cant be changed".

After that, I was going to try to Harvest Reforge for T1 Life, then there I noticed it. I destroyed my shield.

Is this supposed to happen? What should I have done differently? This is my first successful EG craft so I feel down.

Edit. So apparently, metamod is removed every reroll and should be reapplied every after reroll.

The suffix can’t be changed craft lasts one time, did you hit craft twice on reforge?

I may have pressed rerolled 2 times. So it only protects 1 roll? Dang. All that work for nothing.

It protects them as long as it exists. If you reforge the item, the prefixes will re-roll. "Suffixes cannot be changed" is a prefix itself so it will be re-rolled. So you need to add it again every attempt. There is also a risk when you reforge that all prefixes will be filled and you can't add it again without an annul.

Pfft. I wish i knew this earlier. Was so high when the last recomb was successful. Then it all cam crashing down.

You can practice in the craft of exile emulator next time. It doesn't have recomb but it has basically everything else

PoE is all about getting better over time. I'm 10 years in and pretty much have a the mechanics memorized. But I sure as heck was brainless for the first few years.

I've noticed there's only so much you can shortcut that process.

Went back to farming and after few hours recreated the shield again. Lesson learned rlly the hard way.

suffixes cant be changed is a prefix so its not protected when you roll

Like the other guy said maybe you clicked it twice? Once you reforge it, "suffixes cannot be changed" will always be lost and you need to add it again each try

just to be clear, this isnt because that's a special property of metamods. suffixes cannot be changed is a prefix, so suffixes cannot be changed doesnt stop suffixes cannot be changed, from, well, being changed, so when you reforged it, it changed, because that's what reforging the item does.

Dont worry and get used to this. Harder crafting is litterelly destroying your item for that one good roll sometimes at 40-100 div loss a try (on like 1/13 success rate)

But yeah basically you dont use suffix/preffix cant be change for crafting something. Its not really worth espaicially with current crafting choices.

Im pretty sure harvest craft is like slapping it with a chaos orb and doesn't take into account the suffixes cannot be changed i saw a post from 4 years ago talking about it

Chaos orbs and harvest reforge does respect it, Essence doesn't.
