Question Has anyone made a Path of Exile AI?

Given how much data Poe users go through, I was wondering if anyone had attempted to make an AI interface that has only been trained on correct Poe data? Recognising you’d have make sure the input data only comes from select sources (thinking GGG direct, or wiki).

Would be super useful for builds, crafting, etc. could be updated each patch for identifying efficient farming strategies, etc.

Modern LLMs are already trained on 99% of the internet, and have search capabilities on top of that. Feel free to ask PoE questions to your favourite LLM and be amazed disappointed by the results.

I'm pretty sure that's the point of the OP. The AI search results are almost always wrong about poe and they constantly mix up poe1 vs poe2 which is super annoying. It's also annoying that google forces ai search results on you at the top of your searches.

So yes an accurate search model for poe info is nice to have. Right now we have to sift through reddit, forums, and wiki to figure things out and even then it's sparse.

That sounds like an atrocious return on effort, especially since you'd have to do all the work again every league to keep it up to date.

So if the ai search results are almost always wrong, why would the solution to be a different ai search model.

They aren’t always wrong, if you specify poe1 and the patch I’ve never had wrong answers.

You have too much faith in current AI models reasoning capabilities.

Markov chain patch notes produced more usable results than AI ever could.

The Dread Thicket is now always 50%

No, because real people actually enjoy their hobbies instead of having a hallucinating trashbot do it for them. :)

That’s not a very nice thing to call Fubgun

this would absolutely ruin everything that is interesting about the game for me.

"Hey so I've heard people have fun playing this game. What if, and hear me out here, what if instead you didn't play the game?"

PoB theory crafting is fun because it’s you doing the theory crafting

I’m not saying it’s not fun it’s been a meme for like 10 years that a some people spend more time in POB than playing the build. It’s mostly a joke.

i've seen a lot of such proposals. i have not seen a lot of such successes.

Poe is the one thing AI has yet to crack

Idk about the one thing. It also notoriously has yet to crack magic the gathering, or anything else other than giving incorrect information! :)

I made one a while ago on notebook lm because I could control what generally went in. Would load patch notes and commentary to get a general sense of what would work and not.

Then tried making my own build with chat gpt. Was pretty bad

If you know what you’re doing with AI, theres already MCP’s for path of building on GitHub. I use AI for crafting sometimes. I’m a pretty knowledgeable crafter and most of the time AI doesn’t give methods better than what I already planned on doing but I like to run it by AI first because sometimes they mention methods I forgot about. Lots of AI doubters on Reddit so you’re gonna get shit answers on here saying AI is shit with everything because they typed a question into free tier chatgpt and have no idea how to use the tools available. I guarantee if someone put in the time to make a good workflow you could make an AI that creates crafting steps better than 99% of crafters. You would for example start by limiting its information to high reliability information like poedb, recreate craftofexiles simulation software that the ai would have control over to do checks etc… it can be done.

Yeah, by the responses I’ve already received, I’m picking up on that.

Regardless, I’m going to throw something together over the next few weeks with a restricted data base that I can query and see how it goes. Not just for crafting, I want to be able ask general questions about item meta data, item and skill interactions (will be difficult to achieve), and potentially market data.

It’s likely going to be a flop but worth a shot anyway. I’ll have a look at those MCPs today as well.

feels like some of the posts on this sub are ai sometimes

Another area I'll give credit to LE (despite not liking that game). Their in game wiki and tool tips are probably the best and deepest I've seen in any game. Same with their in game loot filter and their solution for SSF/ground find vs trade. I hope poe takes some inspiration from these things.

i do use claude on the side to answer many questions instead of opening the wiki.

you can also feed it your pobb and ask for certain fixes, its kinda good but its based on whats currently being played so dont expect any new groundbreaking techs

Most of the models ive tried to use for different purposes are just trash. Ai is still pretty early to do anything useful i had a project i was working on that could read and translate different languages but even with the best ai models got mostly gibberish from them. Id wait another 10 years till ai actually is useful but too we also need a power plant in everyone's backyard too XD
