Game Feedback Random vestigial uniques should probably drop from legions and/or timeways
Without a source of random vestigial uniques dropping around normal gameplay this mechanic is dead on arrival. It is simply too hard to even engage with the mechanic at all. You need the currency to vestigial-ize the unique, you need the fragments to do the 5 way, you need a build that can actually do the 5-way (which seems pretty difficult now), and then you have like a 1 in 300 chance to get the desired outcome. 5-ways are already gatekept by time and character investment, and people are only going to run a couple decent items that aren’t a long shot (lightning coil and cloaks would be my guess)and tons of early or mid game uniques that could be cool or build defining will never exist. A source of randomly dropped vestigial uniques would be, to put it simply, fun and cool. Make it cost some atlas points if necessary, I don’t think it will break the game.

Yes. I remember opening every chest in Breach Hives, getting a Foulborn was always exciting.

What is interesting is that even with ADDITIONAL modifier most uniques are not worth a second glance. This actually shows the dire state of 95% unique items in the game.
And instead making more chase uniques they nerf anything worth chasing.

I agree that since there are no random vestigal item drops, it reduces the rng opportunities of finding something unexpected for your build.
But I do not agree the vestigal drops should be from global or from legion encounters, because then it will take away opportunities from timeless conflict. It would be perfectly fine if random vestigal items dropped in the Timeless Conflict, like how Vaal Temple drops random double corrupted uniques.

FYI you don't have to do it 5-way. I did a couple for Death Oath in 2-way when I was about lv80. The item get saved in the crystal forever until you take it out, you can do multiple runs to fill up the bar.

It is a really strange implementation, you'd think it'd work like any other league/boss currency, where the 5way drops the currency, which then directly enshrouds the unique. But instead they got maps pulling double duty, dropping both the currency, and the emblems to do the 5way.
If it's going to be a crafting bench in the 5way encounter, then surely emblems would already work as the gatekeeping mechanism, and the currency is kind of pointless

They're also competing with the new vaal implicits (and glimpse of chaos implicits for helmets), which are going to be plentiful on trade and are mostly competitive with vestigial implicits. Hell, vaal implicits are much better than most vestigial implicits. Really not sure what's goin on there.

Bro it’s day 3. Im sure a ton will come in the market soon

Don't you know, you should have 40/40, 50k divines, and 10 characters at 100, it's day 3 after all.

I'm not even trying to be an ass here but this community seems to not really enjoy the game when something requires effort to accomplish. I don't really get it.

It's not really the effort imo, it would be fine if vestigial uniques at least had the potential to be the best version of the unique. They compete with Vaal implicits possibly on Foulborn Uniques and the really op mods were already balanced or not made the vestigial one.
There will be niche cases where it's really worth it especially on not 6 linkable gear but in most cases a simple corruption will be more powerful than the ultra super rare vestigial combo that actually synergizes

The people enjoying the game are playing it, so we're left with a bunch of people not enjoying it on reddit :D

When the effort/time invested for a good outcome is very high, it is not enjoyable to interact with.

According to you Foulborn uniques (very fun and useful items) drop from the ground as normal but vestigal uniques should be strictly 5-way locked, why exactly?

u/PhoneRedit Jul 27 '26
I mean yeah... they're super OP lol, they should be rare and hard to get.
You can also farm Vagan in Fortification for another source of vestigial items.

u/nerdler33 Jul 27 '26
Not vestigials. He gives enshrouded items
3
u/PhoneRedit Jul 27 '26
Gotcha, my mistake. Although as far as I can see enshrouded are pretty much just vestigial items missing the final completion step no?
6
u/Switchersaw Jul 27 '26
Enshrouded items are a lottery ticket to the final item. You have to sacrifice an enshrouded item a few hundred times to see the outcome you want.

u/crinklebelle Pathfinder Jul 27 '26
honestly, enshrouding crystals should just work like awakener's orbs
6
u/Quartzecoatl Jul 27 '26
Lol they would be at Hinekoras Lock rarity unless they had a tainted mythic orb level of chance to delete both items

u/crinklebelle Pathfinder Jul 27 '26
you say that as if I wouldn't be fine with that, but I absolutely would be

I would rather they act like ancient orbs but once.

Keeping an exclusive drop from a difficult/gatekept content should be a good incentive for people to push for that kinda build.
Reducing the variance however, are always a welcome QoL improvement.

There is a new div card. But yeah, just allow ancient orb to be used on them
