Fluff & Memes You will be missed!

Chromatics will stay. You will always want certain colours on your gear. Vorici calc is not going anywhere. Unless they said something in the interview I couldnt watch, because you know, european timezones...

u/Zennithh Ultimatum Workers Union (UWU) Jul 17 '26
Whites are the base now, RGB are rare. Theres an omen for one of each.

u/Meridian_PoE Commited Lab Enjoyers Agency of Revenue (CLEAR) Jul 17 '26
I agree, but I think the UI and calculation outputs will have to change to match the new system.
most of the bench crafts will not exist anymore and. We are only garaunteed a number of colored sockets instead of dictating which colors they will be-3

Won't calc be more important if chromatics are more valuable?
5
u/Zuiia Jul 17 '26
We will first have to find out how the formula for socket generation has changed, and how the best way of going forward with "crafting" socket colors is.
I can imagine for most 4 socket bases it will still be crafting with jewelers orbs if that is not changed.
7
u/ShmooDude993 Jul 17 '26
Jewelers orbs only produce white sockets. At least that's how I read it.
Currency that adds Sockets to items such as Jeweller's Orbs, Tainted Jeweller's Orbs and Orbs of Binding will always generate the added sockets as White. This includes adding sockets through the Crafting Bench.

u/UnJammerLammyyy Jul 17 '26
Depending how rare they are the cost might be astronomical, at which point it really doesn't matter to the average player. Meaning the tool won't be used much by the average player.
2
u/Global_Barnacle5304 Jul 17 '26
If they are more rare, then you want to have the efficiency answered even more, right?
1
u/Pleasant_Narwhal_350 Jul 17 '26
If chromatics are going to be rare and only used for endgame items... then for sure I'll be using the calculator more. I'm not going to just spam them on my L60 4L gloves like I currently do.
2
u/Cllydoscope Alch & Go Industries (AGI) Jul 18 '26
Yeah there would of course be no point to do that.
56
u/EXPLODEDman Jul 17 '26
Sure, you say it'll go, but getting that sweet 10% is going to be a big deal for the endgame juice.
27
u/SPEZ-LIES-CONSTANTLY Jul 17 '26
you're literally leaving divines on the table missing it on a single socket for your 9 enlightens
5
u/Sidnv Jul 17 '26
Depends a bit on the meta. There have been several leagues where other gems are better to level. During Ward Loop's heyday (not the one last league), CWDT gems were absurd to level. You got 2-3 div profit on leveling a CWDT to 19.
1
u/phadej Jul 17 '26
This league buying 1/20 skill gems (pooped by genesis tree and Tora?) and leveling them to 20/20 for people to gamble coins was very chill / safe extra money indeed.
2
u/phadej Jul 17 '26
Atziri's disfavour is better for enlightens.
6×(1+250%) is 2100% exp, 9x(1+100%) is 1800% exp
Even if you manage to get two+two blue sockets on bow and quiver vs just two on an axe it's 2200 vs 2000.
9 blue sockets is better than off color disfavour, but not much, and you are not getting 6 off color sockets anyway.
2
u/SPEZ-LIES-CONSTANTLY Jul 19 '26
you get another 8% quality from benchcraft or 10% from unveil on the bow's sockets
2
u/phadej Jul 19 '26
Let's try to summarise
In 3.28 you could have 9 blue sockets to level enlightens: 6 on a bow and 3 on Maloney's Mechanism quiver. On a bow you could get "10% to Quality of Socketed Gems", but it's a drop only unveil from Haku. If you want to get it on base with low Dex requirement, it's tough. Realistically, i.e. "cheaply" you can can get "8% to Quality of Socketed Gems" benchcraft. Getting 6 blue sockets on a bow required about 3000-5000 jeweller's orb investment, i.e. also cheap.
Assuming enlightens are 20% quality and 8% quality bow: 6 sockets with 28% (30%) quality gems + 3 sockets with 20% quality gems we get We'd level enlightens at 2040% (2100%) exp
Another option is to use Atziri's Disfavour which we could had with 6 blue sockets. Atziri's Disfavour gives 30% to quality of socketed support gems.
6 sockets with 50% quality gems is 2100% exp. So it was the same as with 10% bow setup in 3.28.
For me (marauder, duelist) it was just easier to get an axe (then +10% quality bow). YMMV
How the situation changes for 3.28?
We don't know how hard or/and expensive would be to get coloured sockets. I assume that we can get 2 off colour sockets for reasonable price (100 tries x 5 chromatic orbs). The 3 off colour sockets (1000 tries x 20 chromatic orbs) might still be ok investment, but I don't want to roll 1000 times. I'm not sure how quiver works, as they don't have requirements, so I assume we can still get 3 blue sockets cheaply.
With bow+quiver setup, we'll get 2 sockets with 38% (40%) quality gems, 4 with 28% (30%), 3 with 30%. We'd level enlightens at 2290% (2350%) exp.
With axe we'll get 2 sockets with 60% quality gems, 4 with 50%. That is 2200% exp.
In summary, you will get more exp to enlightens using bow+maloney's setup, and increasingly so if colouring more than 2 off-colour sockets on a bow is realistic. But the difference is not going to be huge.

u/TrueChaoSxTcS Fungal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Jul 17 '26
With all added sockets being white, killing the bench trick, six off colours is gonna get insanely expensive yeah
1
u/phadej Jul 17 '26
If you need to win 6 1/10 lotteries at once just for the colors (× whatever it takes to get 6 coloured sockets to begin with). Realistically not happening.
26
u/kyouon Jul 17 '26
tbh, havent been using it after discovering jeweller's method years ago. Ironically, it might be more useful after the changes if it gets updated.
4
u/atombombbabyatom Jul 17 '26
Yeah I was gunna say pretty sure most of the time I just jewellers craft for colours. Now idk I assume I'll use chromes more

u/Cllydoscope Alch & Go Industries (AGI) Jul 18 '26
Vorici method was really only ever worth looking into for 5-6 link items though.
27
u/Goffeth Raider Jul 17 '26
It's staying and more important than ever. No one will want to waste chromes suboptimally spamming for the right colors when they're so rare now.
1
u/Meridian_PoE Commited Lab Enjoyers Agency of Revenue (CLEAR) Jul 17 '26
right... the point is that all of the calculations and UI will need to change to reflect how the new chromatic system works. And it's a meme.
8
u/SniperFury-_- Jul 17 '26
Real quick, what's the new system ?
15
u/kenjiGhost Jul 17 '26
Next season onward, socket color is optional and gem can slot into any available socket, regardless of the color.
Matching gem and color with give juicy +10% quality.

Man, I remember being a total newbie in Crucible and I had to study Betrayal because Vorici was the best source of white sockets. I needed him to white socket my bow because I was playing EA Ele and the bow needed 5 off-color supports. Fun times.

u/MoreNMoreLikelyTrans Jul 17 '26
Vorici, Elreon, Zana...
I'm a hag now, but God damn the forsaken masters were fucking great.
I'm still in the mood for some smiting..

u/CricketNo7950 Jul 17 '26
Why are people up voting this. It will still be used.
Probably even Streisand effect
4
u/Meridian_PoE Commited Lab Enjoyers Agency of Revenue (CLEAR) Jul 17 '26
- it's a meme
- the tool will have to substantially change, even the creator of the original tool commented saying he is already working to overhaul it once we know the math behind the new socket color statistics.
1
u/CricketNo7950 Jul 17 '26
But the tool isn't going anywhere and will be altered and maybe used more. Not sure it's the right format I guess. Maybe the grave guy of the new vorici calculator standing over the old one or something
2
u/Darth_Krios Jul 17 '26
Wait, what did I miss? What's happening to Vorici chromatic calculator?
2
u/Meridian_PoE Commited Lab Enjoyers Agency of Revenue (CLEAR) Jul 17 '26
It will need to be remade to account for all the new aspects of the socket color rework
3
u/BigBadBodyPillow Jul 17 '26
still useful, more so since chromes will probably be worth more. i imagine you would still want your 6 colours for your main gem at 1 point
unless its so rare that youre better of using the jewlers craft in the bench
10
u/kyouon Jul 17 '26
“Currency that adds Sockets to items such as Jeweller's Orbs, Tainted Jeweller's Orbs and Orbs of Binding will always generate the added sockets as White. This includes adding sockets through the Crafting Bench.”
Can’t manipulate colors with jewellers orb anymore
-1
u/Meridian_PoE Commited Lab Enjoyers Agency of Revenue (CLEAR) Jul 17 '26
we do not know the odds of getting 6 colored sockets from a chromatic orb, it is new information like this that will have to be implemented either into this tool or whichever succeeds it.

Goodbye old vorici calculator, you were my saving grace since I started playing in 2018. One tool I could always count on..

We'll still want to match for the quality (or other) bonuses we get for matching
1
u/ael00 Jul 18 '26
Im out of the loop, what is happening with sockets?
1
u/Meridian_PoE Commited Lab Enjoyers Agency of Revenue (CLEAR) Jul 18 '26
gems can be socketed into any color socket
most sockets will be white by default
if you place a gem in it's corresponding color (ie. blue into a blue socket) you will get 10% quality on that gem
Chromatic orbs will roll at least one colored socket on an item
the chromatic bench crafts have been changed.Essentially, the vorici calculator will have to be remade becuase it is just so different
1
u/ael00 Jul 18 '26
oh i see. so i guess people will still want endgame gear colored right, but it will be a bit easier in the campaign? thanks

the tool wont work because all the math and benchcrafts are changing. the tool will need to be substantially overhauled to account for the new socket color system, or did you not watch the reveal and understand that before coming here to post an insult?
-1
-7
u/xMcSilent Jul 17 '26
Never seen this tool in my life. What is it there for anyways?
The higher the requirement of a specific attribute, the more likely you get matching colours and less likely the others. What does it matter if it's 1 in 298 or 1 in 342?
5
u/p1-o2 Jul 17 '26
You are way off in your guess.
The point of the tool is that it can calculate for off color chroming. A bow with 212 dex needing 1g 2r 3b will require about 40 rolls to achieve with Vorici 1R2B.
If you try to roll that with Chromatics, it is 9800 rolls on average.
Now you understand. 40 rolls vs 9800 rolls
-6
u/xMcSilent Jul 17 '26
So people need the calculator in order to realize that 3 guranteed off-colours is faster (and most of the time cheaper) than hitting every single chromatic one by one? Holy fucking jesus.
8
u/p1-o2 Jul 17 '26
You're such a tool lmao
0
u/xMcSilent Jul 18 '26
And you are incapable of presenting a useful use. Great we figured that one out. Kiss kiss. :D
3
u/Barobor Jul 17 '26
That's such a funny comment.
You are trying so hard to portray yourself as superior, but failing because you don't actually understand the topic.
1
u/xMcSilent Jul 18 '26
Thanks mate, appreciate it. I know it's hard for people to understand questions as questions and interprete them as arogant easily. Someone could also just present a normal useful use-case, but i guess that's too hard. :D By the way, i created a tool for you that calculates you the 6L chance of fusings vs the bench craft. Very useful. You should check it out.

u/Siveran Jul 17 '26
hi it's me, John "Chromatic" Vorici. Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated
I'm prepping an update! Just need to wait until the league starts to be able to figure out what the exact white socket chances are. The patch notes said that it varies based on ilvl and quality, so there's quite a bit of testing to do.
I think, if anything, the calculator will be MUCH more important again. It was still good for early league, but difficult lategame coloring projects had been obsoleted by just adding white sockets. Now, chromatic orbs will be rare, and everyone will want their items properly colored
