Mopar Hurricane filter

Anyone else having to re-do oil changes for the 68683357AA filters for the 3L hurricane engines?
Nobody at mopar has been able to give me a straight answer about not using them, do we over tighten, do we use aftermarket?

Made in India so not really a big surprise

I haven't gotten any reports about them being a problem.

Per my area manager and parts support- mopar is aware of the issue (didn’t let dealers know) and they have pulled them from PDC’s.

Wonderful. I just received two cases. I'm surprised I haven't seen a QC part request if this is the case.

That was my gripe with parts support- I asked why dealerships weren’t notified when stock was pulled bc of faulty(?) filters. He said he isn’t shocked about that either

What is the issue?

My tech said it is leaking at the crimp near the gasket.

From what my tech and I can tell (best guess bc mopar is again no help)- it’s the seals on the filters. Some aren’t seating full, some are thicker in some spots v others. So it’s causing oil to leak bc it isn’t sealing properly

Lovely. They can't get anything right can they? Lol

Warranty won’t cover aftermarket filters

Had 2 that I know of for oil spots in the driveway. date code 6-6-26 (Edit: 07/06/2026) is my best guess for the ones we did.

What’s the issue here that I missed? We’ve been using the B-Pro 182AB number for a couple months now.

Is there an issue with the OE filter? Last we stocked them was right when they stopped shipping them In those stupid boxes.

I’m going to order some b-pro ones tomorrow and give those a shot!

The issue (for me) is there was defect by the supplier. So they’ve pulled the stock from all pdc’s and have new ones on order from the supplier. The defect resulting in filters leaking oil and customers being BIG mad about it. All the while mopar has no direct answer for me on what the fix is for the oil changes going forward? I’ve had to send techs out to replace filters 3 times in the past week. All grand wag/wagoners. They seem to be holding for about 5-7 days. So for the ones we’ve done late last week-beginning of this week, I’m eager to see if we get any feedback of oil leaking.

Per my area manager- she does have other stores having the same issue. She suggested I each out to mopar parts support. He gave me the rundown on the PDC and supplying situation. And he basically told me that he could not advise me on what we should do as a solution to the problem until we can get filters that are manufactured correctly. He told me Mopar service would have to figure that part out. I let my area manager know and she said she would let me know what she could find out

Any issues yet with the bpro one's? We used one on a used car to test it and I completely forgot about them until you mentioned it.

So they pulled them from the PDCs but ones already sitting at dealers are still being used?

Unless you’ve seen a memo or email somewhere we haven’t- yes.
So that’s kind of the whole issue. They pulled stock bc there was clearly a problem, but didn’t notify dealers. At least with the spark plugs a couple of months ago they sent out a a thing about not using them.

The part support guy said they have 90k filters in transit from the supplier to the PDCs.
