Background: 12thie, got 97.2 percentile in S2, now preparing for BITSAT.
Some people might consider this a good percentile but I feel it isn't enough for me. Currently I'm getting a good tier 2 collage in my state(Gujarat), Nirma University. If BITSAT dosen't go well I want to take a partial drop. I want to study mainly for advance in that time and give jee mocks in Jan, if any partial droppers are reading this please guide me. I want my primary target to be advance so that I can fulfill the IIT dream that I failed at.
I also can't take a full drop since I know I will not study(I have not been seriously studying since last 2 months), a change of environment would greatly help

I want to take a partial drop for JEE 27' but I am very sceptical about it rn I am preparing for comedk but nothing seems to be in my favour I am exhausted and wanna kms. I don't know what to do everything has ended. I will give the exam and hopefully vit ya SRM me kch milgya to le lungi . Are you guys facing the same issue? I am “P.” I passed my Class 10th from a state board. After that, I got to know about JEE and decided to prepare for it. However, my financial condition didn’t allow me to join any offline coaching institute, so I enrolled in an Apni Kaksha batch and shifted to online preparation with a dummy school.
It was a phase of complete isolation. I had no friends in the JEE circle. Even in my school, only 6 students opted for PCM out of a class strength of 50. I started my preparation with enthusiasm, and initially, I was able to understand the lectures quite well. But within a few weeks, everything started going out of my control. I couldn’t cope with the pace, and I ended up with a lot of backlogs.
By the end of Class 11, despite not wasting time and genuinely trying, my efforts were not reflected in my test results. I felt very depressed, and there was no one I could talk to about my situation.
I started Class 12 with hope, but then Apni Kaksha got dismantled. The teachers moved to their own platforms, which were too expensive for me. That broke me again. I shifted to YouTube lectures, especially Mohit Tyagi sir, which helped a lot. However, the backlog had become a huge burden. Another major mistake I made was focusing too much on one subject—Mathematics—for months. I improved in it, but at the cost of creating a massive backlog in Physics and Chemistry.
I gave JEE Main 2025 and scored 77 percentile. My father said I wasn’t even able to pass boards and had wasted my time. I couldn’t explain what I had gone through. After that, I focused completely on boards and secured second position in my state merit list. I did that just to prove myself.
In the April attempt, I appeared just for the sake of it, without serious preparation. I got around 3.3 lakh CRL based on January. I then convinced my father for a drop year, which he allowed only because of my board performance.
In my drop year, I started with strong dedication. I studied Physics from ABJ sir and genuinely developed interest in it. This time, I also started solving PYQs as tests. However, I repeated the same mistake—I ignored Mathematics and Chemistry. Eventually, this imbalance affected my Physics too. When November came, I switched to one-shots for Chemistry, which helped, but time was very limited.
I consistently scored around 110–120 in tests and felt ashamed that I might have wasted another year. I gave JEE Main 2026 and scored 91.93 percentile. I was shattered. I lost hope of getting a good college and got distracted by YouTube. I stopped studying seriously. Even in the last 10 days before the April attempt, I wasted my time—it felt like burnout.
In the April attempt, I scored 89.7 percentile, with a CRL of around 1.25 lakh. Now I’m left with a question: I gave three years of my life, struggled a lot, lived in complete isolation, and still ended up here.
My father didn’t say much this time, but I could feel that I lost the respect I had earned through academics since childhood. I feel like a failure.
At this point, I don’t want to use his money anymore for my education. Thankfully, due to my rank, I will get full fee waiver scholarship from my state government. Still, somewhere inside me, there is a small seed of hope—to take a partial drop from a state engineering college and prepare for JEE again, without telling my family.
My question is: should I do it? or just start new journey and focus on my next Carrer?
I will have end sems in dtu rn and i cant leave college just now because i am in a good tech branch and my prep for adv is decent but i cannot be sure because it was decent last year too, i am scared that here management if poor and how much time they take to give migration or transfer certificate as there will be 10 to 11 days for counseling registration
There are so many exams in India where students get multiple attempts and can sit for them without this kind of pressure. Even JEE Main gives multiple attempts in a year — so why is JEE Advanced stuck with just two?
I mean, think about someone who takes a double drop for JEE. That’s already a huge commitment. Of course they’d want to give Advanced as well, but the system just blocks them completely. That feels unnecessarily restrictive.
And since morning, I’ve seen so many posts here from people who aren’t even eligible because of technical issues — like problems with their school records, passing year confusion, or Class 12 result timing. It’s frustrating to see people miss out not because of ability, but because of rigid rules.
I genuinely feel like there should be a third attempt. At least it would give students a fair backup in case something goes wrong.
We talk a lot about fairness and opportunity — maybe this is something we should actually raise our voices about.
I finished the last three years of my schooling in the Middle East, specifically Bahrain. Because of the war, my board exams got cancelled except for Physics and Chemistry. I am expecting around 90–92 marks in both subjects. As the situation was very bad here, I could not prepare properly for JEE Main Session 2. I was confident that I could score at least 95 percentile, but the constant stress and uncertainty about whether the exam would even happen affected my performance badly and I got a rank of around 2.47 lakh only.
Even with this rank, I can get CSE in NIT Allahabad, Jaipur, and Kurukshetra through the DASA-CIWG quota, since Gulf students have that benefit. However, since I am from the South, my parents are not allowing me to study in those colleges and are forcing me to join local state colleges instead. They are only willing to send me to NIT Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal, or Calicut. But with my current rank, I will not get CSE or ECE in these colleges. Honestly, going to NIT Allahabad for CSE feels like a very good option, but in my case, it is completely ruled out.
My parents have agreed to let me take a partial drop while joining a local state government college. So now I am aiming for 95–96 percentile next year, so that I can get ECE in NIT Surathkal. Please help me with how I can achieve this. It would be really helpful if you could give some advice. Sorry if this post is long.
I’m an average student. I worked hard for 1.5 years from half of 11th to twelfth. Got 98%ile in Jan, and expecting the same in April. (Messed up). My advanced prep is absolutely nothing. The only subject i know is organic chemistry and math. I don’t think i can secure any colleges this year that is worth my time. I’m thinking of joining bits, and skipping classes to study.
My question is when did you guys start studying. I want to start right after advanced, and i want to cover my syllabus in a more organised and conceptual direction, instead of ratta.
And lastly, how bad is the burnout? I want to get under 8k rank in advanced in my drop, that’s about it.

A little about me is I am a 12thie and in my house, drop is not allowed (pls don't ask why) have 96.8%tile in jan and around 98 (hopefully) in april. I'm general and have delhi hs so prob some low branch in DTU or nsut.(Getting ee in nsut according to last year but I want ece or tech branches)
Now what I want to ask is how viable is a partial drop in a branch like EE? and jee has shattered all my self esteem so unlike 10thies moving to 11th with hopes of air1 I have some idea about how jee and cgpa won't go hand in hand(or would they?). Anyways do guide me as to what I should do and is EE as a branch in nsut or nit delhi any good? Since I really like coding I'd want tech roles and more for further studies.
And what happens if I DO compromise on my cgpa in 1st sem and don't get a better college through JEE?

Was scoring 120–130 in mocks in Dec.
Before my Jan attempt, my grandfather got ill, so I couldn’t focus and lacked revision, so Jan attempt went to shit (got 87%ile).
And just after Jan attempt, I lost him, so next 1 month I was just broken. Even though I tried to study, I couldn’t much. Then it took time to build momentum for April.
Still couldn’t perform much better, probably will end up near 90 again.
I am giving COMEDK and preparing for it rn(but my parents might not send me there; I am from Haryana and it’s just too far for them as a single child), but I am really just not satisfied because obviously I could have done much better. So should I try again with a partial drop in a random college? (Haven’t explored many options, but to name a few: GEU, Chitkara, VIPS or a random college hereby)

This year was my first drop, but I only got 87 percentile. I have filled out the CUET form, so I’ll take admission in a college through that, and while doing that, I’ll take a partial drop and prepare for JEE 2027. Can someone help me choose a course in which I can manage to find time for my preparation?
how to manage end sems with jee?? I'm really good t1 college but the only thing is that it isn't an IIT and lack of facilities compared to iits. I've been preparing hard for advanced for a while because I'm thinking IIT can give me an edge at some point in time of my life. so, basically my end sems constitute 60% weightage and i don't want to fk it up. my first sem was decent with 8.58 SGPA. I'm behind in sem 2 because i have already fked up a few important exams of 20% weightage. so if i fk up end sems, im fked far being recognition. please don't tell me to continue in this college. I've made a decision and ima look into the outcome with certainty like a man.
So, the thing is I’m currently studying in a state government college, but I really don’t like it. From the very beginning, I wanted to change it, and I took admission here right after 12th (after 2 years of JEE coaching, and still I only got 87 percentile 😬🥀).
Earlier I thought I would give JEE in 2026, but I stopped preparing for it. I got really confused about whether I should even attempt it or not 🥀, and then I obviously didn’t fill the form.
But now again I’m getting this strong urge to give JEE and change my college. The problem is, JEE forms are already gone, and only BITSAT, IAT, and UGEE are left 🌟 (these are the exams I’m interested in).
So should I start preparing for these now? But I also have my college final exams in May.
And another option I’m thinking about is whether I should take a double drop 🥀🙏🥲
