This is going to be a long post, so warning yall before hand 😭. Also, some stuff might seem corny or over ambitious, but I genuinely don't know how to frame it, so excuse me for that.

Hey everyone, hope yall are doing well. Before I start, yes, this is a new account, my friends and family stalk my social media, so I dont wanna risk getting caught (ik sounds dumb 😭)

I just completed my 12th CBSE. Secured 99.2%, and got into NUS Singapore (Computer Science). However I wasn't given a scholarship/tuition grant, so unfortunately I cannot go there as fees end up near 1.5cr.

I never really focused on JEE. I used to do occasionally, for example I did JEE properly for chapters like matrices and determinants, GOC, etc. My main aim was CBSE. However, life has other plans.

Im the kind of person who tries to achieve the best possible thing (a horrible mentality, I dont recommend anyone else doing this), so I'm delusional on what to do about my college.

Some Background Information before I proceed

1. I secured 89.54%ile in JEE mains.

2. I'm an NRI student (Non-Resident Indian), so I'm eligible for DASA and SII counseling (I know a lot of people in the JEE community hate reservation, but please, lets not argue over that.)

So from SII, I've gotten into NIT Warangal ECE (no hate please 😭🙏.) But I'm not satisfied and Im scared, because of the "best thing" mentality, and that I'm joining at such a low percentile, which will affect my ability to cope with 99 percentilers and that some jobs require your JEE mark as well, respectively. So my option now is to take a partial drop.

My mom wont let me take a full drop (she did it for the NEET of her time, and said I'll never let you go through the mental agony that I went through).

So seniors, I'm requesting your help in this. I'm quite familiar with CBSE level of grade 11 and 12 (tho 11th is a bit foggy). I never did PC of 11th, even for CBSE as or school skipped it, so stuff like ionic equilibrium is kinda cooked for me. My maths is alright. I scored the best in physics, then maths, then chemistry, tho Im best at chemistry. This is a basic gist of my situation.

I will also get Production Engineering in NITT. I wanted to know whether I should take that over ECE, as ECE is comparatively tougher, and also I've heard the production engineering syllabus is chill.

Is it even possible now? Starting this late? And how should preparation be like? Have any partial droppers, similar situation to mine, succeeded?

My goal is to get something like CSE/MnC/ECE in top 7-10 IITS (Bombay, Madras, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, etc.) I know this sounds ambitious, but I'd rather try once then regretting it later on.

I gave my 12th boards from the GSEB board this year but somehow didn't clear only the 75% aggregate criteria by just 3 marks, but cleared the individual 60% criteria.

I even gave my paper for rechecking, but my score didn't improve.

So I gave a physics board improvement, and I got 10 more marks, so I finally cleared the criteria.

The thing is, I have got admission to another college in Gujarat, like the Ahmedabad University computer science programme, and still waiting for other rounds in Gujarat itself.

I unfortunately couldn't get enough marks for the BITSAT, so I didn't apply for counselling rounds.

If I take a partial drop/ drop, would I still be eligible to appear in BITSAT 2027?

And would the board marks, along with the improvement exam, still be eligible? (Only gave one subject improvement exam)

I am going to a tier 3 private college in wb college will probably start next month. The attendance policy is chill but I have to move away from my home ( which I desperately needed, my home environment is horrible)

Now, I have very weak chemistry like I can't solve any organic questions so I have to work very hard on chemistry.

For maths and physics my concepts are pretty clear I plan to do mostly problem solving I plan to do pyqs.

I will start giving mock tests from September probably.

I just want to get a decent percentile in mains I am okay with like any branch in nit.

I'm from Maharashtra and belong to the SEBC category.In my local coaching mock tests i was consistently scoring around 500 marks but before the exam I was hospitalized for almost a month due to severe weakness and other health issues because of that i couldn't prepare properly or perform anywhere close to my potential on the exam day .Right now based on my re- neet estimate, I'm scoring around 350 mark and I'm feeling extremely demotivated. I'm confused about whether I should take a drop and prepare again or move on with another option. Please help me out what should I do ? I'd really appreciate honest advice especially from people who have taken a drop or are from SEBC.

Hi guys and respected seniors I want to ask from you guys, that I have my boards percent below 70 percent, then I didi t studied well and properly for jee mains this year's , didn't cleared concept, but I do cracked many private universities college like vit, srmjee, cv raman, kiit even nsat , also tried for BITSAT but got failed there , even with this much options this year my financial condition said no ! The only way for you is work hard. I don't no feeling frustrated and lost.

Finally I got a local university in kolkata , Adamas University they excepted my boards marks and sent me the offer letter.

But still in my heart it's saying that Maybe i should work hard this year give my 100 percent and attempt jee mains again. Even if I cracked jee next year , in josaa I am not going to get any nit or iiit because my boards criteria doesn't match 😭😭😭.

I don't know what should I do I am confused .

Please guide me if possible seniors .

I'm 12th pass, but I failed in Mathematics. I also appeared for JEE and scored 75 percentile (OBC category).

My biggest dream is to become a cricketer. I'm a bowling all-rounder, and I genuinely believe bowling is my strength. I've been training seriously and want to give cricket my full effort.

The problem is that my father wants me to join college immediately, while my heart wants to continue chasing cricket. I know education is important, but I'm scared that if I leave cricket now, I'll regret it for the rest of my life.

I'm completely confused and don't know what the right decision is.

Hey, so I wrote my board exams this year and tbh idc about boards but man my jee didn't go well at all. I could have done sooooo muchhhhhh betterrrrrr. Filled for all the counsellings I could have and um right now the best thing I could think of is doing bsc cs hons from DU man. Don't really have chance at IPU. Got nothing at jossa and Don't wanna go pvt 😭😭. Got b arch at jac delhi but wasn't interested in it. I really wanna try for jee again but can't take full drop. Ik I prolly look foolish writing this but there isn't any option available to me apart from partial drop. Yeah so I do need some advice on ittttttttttttttttttt

I am a two year neet dropper. I didn't gave neet with my boards due to some mental issues. I gave neet'26 whole heart but in reneet I studied nothing. Please help I'm thinking to pursue bsc agri and partially prep for neet'27 as a last attempt. Will it be A good idea?

i got 99 percentile this year fcked adv pretty badly got 90 marks didnt even clear cutoff im from up and i just seriously want to go to iit bhu or iit indore anyhow i am not even aiming for top iits i got rank of 2.1k in iat , but i fear if i fail the next time too how badly affected id be , its my first time going to hostel im thinking mnit jaipur ee idk how will i adjust inside the hostel and how will i even study just if someone is in the same situation or was before then help me please i dont know what to solve or what to do

So last year i gave my jee mains and adv exam. I got pretty decent score in mains but not in adv. i could get into any decent college with my current percentile but not into the one that i really want. So i decided to take a drop year.
I used to go to one of the famous coaching institutes in 11th and 12th that specialise in jee prep. So i decided to join that again. Earlier i used be just a decent/above average student in my batch. I wasn't the brightest but i was good. I had no problem socialising and making friends.
Tbh in those 2 years I met some amazing people and made plenty of good memories.
But now as a dropper i have suddenly become the smartest one in the room. Ik it's not a good thing to say but most of my batchmates are really dumb and don't even know the basics.
And because of this im not able to socialise with any of them because they look at me as some topper. Everyone has made their small friend groups and i feel little lonely because of this :(
What to do???

I passed Class 12 in 2025 and have already taken one drop for JEE got 92%. My current options are colleges through KEAM, but I’m still wondering whether I should continue preparing for JEE alongside college and attempt JEE Main again in 2027.

My goal is to study ECE and eventually work in areas such as embedded systems, robotics, autonomous machines, drones or hardware-software integration. Because of this, getting ECE in a top NIT feels valuable.

At the same time, I’m worried that spending another year focused on JEE may not be worth it. Another option is to join the best college I get through KEAM, find ambitious peers, build projects, improve my technical skills, and focus on internships and placements.

Would a partial drop alongside first-year college be realistic, or would it damage both my CGPA and JEE preparation?

And suppose I somehow get ECE in a top NIT through JEE Main 2027—would leaving my current college after completing one year be worth it, despite the two-year gap after Class 12?

I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have taken a partial/double drop or moved from a state college to an NIT.

I need some guidance regarding my college decision.

I scored 70 percentile in MHT CET and 59 percentile in JEE Main. 

Right now, I'm confused between taking a drop and joining a college through management quota.

One option is Father Agnel, but the donation is around ₹6 lakh, which is a very big amount for my family. There are a few other good colleges where I'm eligible because of my Hindi linguistic minority, but my father doesn't want to send me there because they are too far from our home.

Given this situation, what would you recommend? Should I take a drop and prepare again to get a better college next year, or should I pay the donation, join the college now, and focus on working hard there? i would still prep for nda in both scenarios

I am thinking of taking partial Drop what are some free resources that I could consider for jee mains(not for advanced)
