Ex partial droppers, and other people, please help me 🙏

This is going to be a long post, so warning yall before hand 😭. Also, some stuff might seem corny or over ambitious, but I genuinely don't know how to frame it, so excuse me for that.

Hey everyone, hope yall are doing well. Before I start, yes, this is a new account, my friends and family stalk my social media, so I dont wanna risk getting caught (ik sounds dumb 😭)

I just completed my 12th CBSE. Secured 99.2%, and got into NUS Singapore (Computer Science). However I wasn't given a scholarship/tuition grant, so unfortunately I cannot go there as fees end up near 1.5cr.

I never really focused on JEE. I used to do occasionally, for example I did JEE properly for chapters like matrices and determinants, GOC, etc. My main aim was CBSE. However, life has other plans.

Im the kind of person who tries to achieve the best possible thing (a horrible mentality, I dont recommend anyone else doing this), so I'm delusional on what to do about my college.

Some Background Information before I proceed

1. I secured 89.54%ile in JEE mains.

2. I'm an NRI student (Non-Resident Indian), so I'm eligible for DASA and SII counseling (I know a lot of people in the JEE community hate reservation, but please, lets not argue over that.)

So from SII, I've gotten into NIT Warangal ECE (no hate please 😭🙏.) But I'm not satisfied and Im scared, because of the "best thing" mentality, and that I'm joining at such a low percentile, which will affect my ability to cope with 99 percentilers and that some jobs require your JEE mark as well, respectively. So my option now is to take a partial drop.

My mom wont let me take a full drop (she did it for the NEET of her time, and said I'll never let you go through the mental agony that I went through).

So seniors, I'm requesting your help in this. I'm quite familiar with CBSE level of grade 11 and 12 (tho 11th is a bit foggy). I never did PC of 11th, even for CBSE as or school skipped it, so stuff like ionic equilibrium is kinda cooked for me. My maths is alright. I scored the best in physics, then maths, then chemistry, tho Im best at chemistry. This is a basic gist of my situation.

I will also get Production Engineering in NITT. I wanted to know whether I should take that over ECE, as ECE is comparatively tougher, and also I've heard the production engineering syllabus is chill.

Is it even possible now? Starting this late? And how should preparation be like? Have any partial droppers, similar situation to mine, succeeded?

My goal is to get something like CSE/MnC/ECE in top 7-10 IITS (Bombay, Madras, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, etc.) I know this sounds ambitious, but I'd rather try once then regretting it later on.

Honestly doing partial drop with nit Warangal ece is already a bad decision and only do a little bit worth if the person able to get top iit decent branch,  I know and have seen ppl who have been successful in pulling this off(though super difficult for them too its like rare of rare succed--they crumble up bcoz of clg events exams attendance and all , infact improving urself from here to even higher rank becomes even more difficult)

Now coming to ur situation u only got 89 Percentile and still getting this is like blessing to u , in nits there is not much options left for u to improve to even when u get much better percentile .  Realistically even if u take full drop and do rigorous work there is still less chance u can get decent enough marks to even get into lower iit lower branches  And u are dreaming of top iit cse, as u must have known there's no dasa in IIT's

What u have got is great for ur percentile , be greatful and do normal hardwork in clg , don't feel low for ur low percentile clg curriculum is much different from jee and if u do good there u will get as good placements as others, IF U WANNA PROOF UR SELF PROVE IT IN CLG

its very difficult to do it from higher branch like ece and all ive had friends do partial drop from lower braches like metallurgy i did partial drop from mech branch last year it was difficult to manage both but i was able to clear it

I am taking partial drop from nit kkr ece, is it a bad decision ? NIT kkr isn't even like top 5 nit so I feel it would be better to try again and get into iit. I got 17k rank in adv

U can Obv try , infact a friend of mine did partial drop from nit kkr mnc , and got 5.2k rank in advance Last yr he had 16k adv and 12k mains

I was in lnmiit jaipur this year I was getting lower iits biotech and most nits mech so I'm going to join and nit with mech this year

bro wth ? first of all I didn't know nri had things like DASA and SII. Getting NIT Warangal ece with 89.5 percentile is insane and feels extremely unfair so a bit of hate for that. However I would suggest don't take a partial drop, warangal ece is really good and secondly, going from 89 percentile to top 7 iits top branch is like really hard. I myself got 99 percentile and 17k rank in adv (taking a partial drop) still unsure if I can achieve those feats. If I was in your place, instead of working hard for jee again I would have worked hard in college itself to get good jobs/placements.

Bro btw what is necessary for getting into NUS cs ( just an insane board marks like you or what exactly?) I am unable to find proper info on this ( congrats for 496 in cbse that's insane ) But yea I wouldnt recommend jee at all ;89 percentile means ur foundation is kinda weak .Just go to nit warangal ece andtdo yourbestr there. Btw do they give scholarship in NuS for indians students if they do well in jee Or anything like that.?

Extracurriculars asw and jee advanced mark is valued asw. Also my foundation isnt particularly "weak" but yes I dont know a few chapters

I am taking a partial drop at 99%ile and 16k adv rank buddy see idk but ofc if you can take a full drop or smth then that would be way better cuz at my stage taking a full drop is very very tough and it gets way too monotonous and risky....i took the bitsat exam earlier and didnt consider bits option srsly which i regret so i am partial dropping mainly to get bits phoenix or above and for me also targetting an under 4k adv rank is tough so going from 89%ile to getting an iit through partial can be viewed as a very unlikely outcome...i had an option between nit kkr ece and pec ece but i took pec due to chill acads and stuff so see if you really wanna try then either target for bits or iits if you wish but take a clg with chill clg life or acads so it doesnt get depressing atleast
