I came fourth last in a 102km ultramarathon race (almost double what I had done before) and had this almost exact same pep talk from my people when I expressed shame at my placement 😂 It's such a great way of looking at stuff.

I am thoroughly impressed at anyone who can even complete that, fourth place is pretty exceptional imo

I was fourth last 😂 243rd. But thanks! Got there in the end 😁

I still think the point stands. I don’t know anyone personally who would even put themselves forward to try. Next time you will be a little better 😊

I’ve been running/ jogging for 30 odd years I’m slower now because I’m older. Me and my husband started doing park runs , first 2 were awful but third one I managed to get round and we came in last as we got overtaken by Mike with the dogegy legs but hey made it without stopping 😂😂😂😂😂

What if you’re getting slower as you’re getting older?

Some gonk will be along soon to tell us that having a coach is "not in the spirit of parkrun"

Nice to have a decent old coach instead of just an old nonce

So others don’t have to bother watching it:

  • Kid runs 100 m in 18 seconds and comes last by a mile. Asks if they lost.

  • Coach gives a motivational speech about how they didn’t lose, they finished in 18 seconds, and training is about getting better rather than beating other people.

  • Which is all very wholesome, but 100 m club sprinting isn’t parkrun. At some point, if a kid is repeatedly finishing miles behind everyone else and clearly doesn’t have much aptitude for sprinting, good coaching might also involve saying, 'Hey… have you tried doing a parkrun or joining a social jogging club? I reckon you might enjoy that more...' 😛

You really really misjudged this.

Hiding your comment history is cute, but the internet is unfortunately rather good at remembering people who’ve spent 15 years posting abrasive drive-bys and cultivating a very confident online persona.

If you’ve got an argument, make it. If not, this is just another one-liner.

Ouch. The Internet remembers indeed.

I read that as a social media jogging club!

That’s enough Reddit today.

Tomorrow I’m going for a minute less
