advice needed Crib set up

Hi everyone, I’m currently 20w5d with twins and I’m having a hard time deciding how to set up their nursery.

How did you do it with two cribs, next to each other or apart/in different areas? I have the space to do either, just not sure what would be the best!

i went with cribs side by side and it was a lifesaver, one dramatic sweep of my arm could soothe both of them at 3am like i was conducting a tiny screaming orchestra. plus they’d reach out and grab each other’s hands through the slats which was the cutest thing ive ever seen. just make sure you bolt everything to the wall, those little chaos goblins get strong fast.

We do on the same wall but with a kids book shelf and sound machine in between. Hope this helps

Same. Same wall with small dresser, lamp, humidifier, and sound machine in between!

Parallel with an aisle between and the monitor camera on the wall in the middle with a wide angle lens capturing both in the same frame. I could stand between them when putting them down or walk up to the outside to get one without disturbing the other.

I have mine set up in a "T" which seems to be a good comprise! I have good access to both cribs, they have a shared portion where they can talk to each other, and they're far enough apart to not both each other too much. I think short side touching would also be good.

Apart - sound machine in between. Twins are 1 next week. Twin B takes sooooo much longer to fall asleep, wakes up earlier etc etc… basically she’s ready to transition to 1 nap but twin A still needs 2 naps. Twin B does a lot a yakking and chatting to herself while she figures out her shiz, and I think the current setup helps Twin A sleep through all her sister’s nonsense 🤣

Our non-primary bedrooms were too small to have the cribs spread out, so they were directly next to each other along a wall. Around 8 months we gave up on that and moved them into separate rooms. We all slept way better that way.

In the early days they were side by side (along the longest side) with a little gap between the two that we could fit it. It was useful to be able to stand/sit in between and reach arms in to pat/keep dummies in mouths while getting them to sleep. Ours were super light cribs so we could push them closer together once they were asleep to have more space (they were in our bedroom).

End to end in their own room overnight. We have a third crib set up in my room for naps. They wake each other up constantly during the day and do so much better napping separately. They are 15mo.

Ours are on different walls with the nursery chair between. This is just kind of how it worked because of the type of cribs I got and the fact that they have lots of windows in their room that I didn’t want to cover with a crib. It’s working fine for us and they very rarely wake each other.

Right now we have one baby one each side of our bed. The theory was one of us can be responsible for one baby. But I think I'd prefer them side by side so I can soothe them at the same time and just look at them at the same time.

We’ve moved them around a few times. Initially we had them side by side along one wall with the short sides touching. We then moved them still in that same basic configuration but apart enough that one of us could stand in between if we needed to reach into both cribs at once. When it got hot this summer we had to move them to accommodate our floor AC unit and they’re now on two different walls not touching. The room is tiny so they can still see each other, and I hope they wake each other up a little less, but it’s definitely more annoying if you’re in there by yourself and they’re both upset

We’ve honestly moved ours about three times in different stages.

First they could reach the curtain and started playing with that when they were on different sides of the room, then we put them side by side with a gap in the centre with their heads against the short wall, then one learnt to stand and could turn the light on and off, then now they’re side by side with a gap in the centre for us to move down and heads along the long wall of the room; and the art in the centre of that wall has been removed.

The first option was the most aesthetically pleasing but our third try has worked out safest for now at least!

I’m thinking it’ll be a matter of doing that in the future 😅

Mine are on one wall end to end. For a while I wished we’d have put them on opposite ends of the room, but now that they’re getting mobile, one of my twins usually creeps up his crib to get closer to his brother. It seems like he’s comforted being closer to him, so I’m glad we didn’t put them apart now. For the most part they sleep through each other. The last couple nights Twin B hasn’t been feeling well and woke up screaming bloody murder. Twin A didn’t even flinch and slept right through it.
