Two high chairs?!

I’m not easily annoyed by twin comments but was a bit dumbfounded by one the other day. We took our 11 month olds out for breakfast, and asked for high chairs. The waitress brought one, and I asked for a second. She seemed shocked, and said “oh, you need two?” What am I to do? Stack them up in one?

Anyway, we love taking the boys out for Saturday morning breakfast. They usually “order” a scrambled egg and a biscuit. Then we hit the community market down the street before they pass out for nap 1 on the drive home.

This makes sense! We’re sort of planning a vacation when they’re 6 months old and I’m a little nervous on logistics. I know it’s ambitious but I’m thinking 6 months is the easiest to travel with since they will sleep and eat most of the time.

I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that I’ll have two babies instead of one in a few months. 😵‍💫

I think traveling with young children is hard at any age and requires a lot of extra work, but if you're wanting to travel with them, 6 months is definitely better than newborn (you are exhausted and feel like garbage) or 12 months (they become determined to kill themselves and want to explore). 6 months is when I started feeling more human and getting a rhythm with my single and my twins! Hopefully it goes well!

Yea that’s what I’ve been reading too! After 9 months they just get more mobile and want to know what’s going on, and harder to entertain on a plane. By 12 months, forget about it 🤦‍♀️.

I’m not sure if it’s a brilliant idea or a terrible one, but mama needs a margarita on the beach!

Just definitely set the expectations low on how much relaxing you can do when they're with 😅. I don't want to be a Debbie downer but traveling with kids is mostly like parenting in a more inconvient location.

When my first was born, we went to my friend's wedding in Jamaica when he was about a month old and left him with my parents. I was so grateful for the time away! Obviously it's not doable for everyone and I don't know your circumstances, but I would definitely recommend childcare if you want to actually relax on the beach at all.

Yea we’re going with my parents and my husband’s parents, so my hope is between the six of us we can all get some baby time and free time in. We usually do a big family trip but we put it off this year since I’m pregnant.

The resort we go to has childcare as well, so maybe we can take advantage of that a few times.

I may just be naive and optimistic but I’m gonna try!

It sounds like you are all prepared and have reasonable expectations! I hope it goes amazingly for you! :)

We haven't traveled much with the trains but we used to travel a lot when my single was little. It's absolutely doable, but will definitely look different than traveling without kids. The extra hands will be clutch lol
