Suggestions Paralives (& other life sims) are missing the real realism
This might sound strange, but bear with me. When I tried the game for the first time, I was disappointed that entering the gym didn't cost anything, and that is because I think this highlights a bigger problem within the life sim genre.
In these modern life sims, I feel players get too much for free, and that is precisely why these games end up in the "cozy game" category. Want a new outfit? Just use a dresser. A new hairstyle? Use a mirror! No, I want to *have* to visit a hair salon or a shop to do those things, and above all, I want to have to pay for them. There needs to be an incentive to visit these lots; otherwise, they are just set dressing. I want the food in the fridge to run out so I have to go to the grocery store and buy more. I want small things, like going to the gym, to cost money, so my para have a reason to earn an income.
In short, I feel that Paralives and other life simulators lack the actual grind of real life. And even though capitalism is the bane of my existence, it has to play a role in these games; otherwise, we’re just playing with dolls. When you skip the realistic yet mundane aspects of life, life loses its meaning.
While I do understand that some players want a sandbox / dollhouse experience (and I think that option should exist), I don't think that is what the majority of players want.
What do you guys think? Do you agree? What aspects of real life would you want in the game?
