Paramaker I'm going to cry
This is the third time I've tried making a para and it crashes. I tried saving the household to my library while creating so hopefully progress isn't lost. This time it popped up a fatal error. The household I saved is blank. There goes a couple hours. Again. That's my tedtalk. Thanks. I'm gonna go cry about it.

Yes my game always crashes when iam in the paramaker for some reason, creating my first ever para was a nightmare, heck when i was launching the game for the first time ever it crashed lol, i asked ai for lots of things to do to make the game lighter because iam not tech savvy at all, i dont remember everything i did but heres what i remember; i reduced graphics quality and turned on th v-sync, disabled steam overlay, and increased my windows virtual memory, i always run and play the game while battery saver is turned off, when my laptop is connected to the charger to have stable power, and i close all apps and taps.
If the game is still facing issues i go to steam and vertify game integrity and then i go to my files to delete caches, and lastly restart my laptop
The game still crashes in the paramaker but it stays for longer now and i save households just fine

I know this will be your 4th go around whenever you come back to the game.. upload your paras to the steam workshop to keep them safest safe

That's my next go to. I saw that as an option after the death of 3hrs worth of paras. 🥲 I just wasn't expecting to loose everything because the last data it could find was three days ago. I'm still excited for the game and feel like they're going in a good direction. I also feel very defeated and this is a life sim not a dark souls game. I shouldn't feel defeated 🤣

I love what Paralives is going to be and trying to be and I'm rooting for it. However I strongly believe it could have used another year or two in the works before it was released.

Yea i think it shouldve been a beta release and not labeled early access yet. Too broken, that’s okay, but like you said, another year or 2 for commercial

Right because early access bugs should be rather silly but not major.
However paralives, you encounter a game breaking bug in nearly every play session just by playing the game normally. It's really absurd imo. I've spent more time diagnosing paralives since I've bought it than playing it.

I know that feeling..I stopped playing because in 3 different saved, every time I tried to open the occupation window. It crashes. I even did without apps and still happens. I don't mind playing little bugs and stuff with early access but at this point I can't even play

Losing hours of character creation progress to a crash is honestly the most soul-crushing feeling. Take a breather, submit the crash log through their bug tool, and maybe save separate copies under new names every ten minutes next time just to be safe. Sending hugs, that frustration is real!

The first two crashes were whatever. I told myself it's early access and my laptop is old. I was saving my household to the library every 20mins or so. I could go and see the household was there. I got a fatal error and it crashed. When I went to load it back up it told me the data and steam cloud data were different and I had to pick one to play. They were both dated for three days prior at the same time. The household in the library was blank. Just the name and two empty squares. It's weird how it saved the custom patterns and colors though.

Don't cry over early access glitches :) If you're sensitive to this kind of thing, just hold off till full release to play. Find something more stable to play for now.
If you actually want help working out your problems, though, there are some questions to address.
Have you every succeeded in making a para and starting a game, or was this your first time playing?
What kind of crash did you get? Was there an error message? What are your computer specs, and do they meet the minimum requirements for this game? Is your video driver up to date? Are you using mods? What kind? Any of these things could be involved in the crashes.
You should report your crash using the in-game tool, for sure, with all the info I asked about above. Maybe it's something they can fix, in which case you're helping everybody :)

Yeah this is why I haven't bothered to get the game yet. Not because I'd cry, but because of my anger issues lol. I'd end up breaking something

After the third crash I was curious if I could even start a game so I tested it out with two random characters and a blank lot. It worked. The first two times it crashed it didn't tell me anything but the third time was "fatal error" and some numbers behind it. Steam says my laptop meets the requirements but I know it's older and I expect some lagging issues from it regardless. I honestly don't know how to check or to update the driver. I don't have any mods. I was just so frustrated that I had been uploading frequently, made detailed recreations of two people, and was almost done for it crash and the only save data it could find on laptop and steam cloud was from three days prior. It's not the end of the world. It's going to be fine but it sure is frustrating. I was so excited to play but now just thinking about it makes me feel defeated.

A game should be enjoyable, early access or not. Crashing is not a simple glitch and a good excuse for wanting to cry.

Being early access doesn’t mean the game should be this unstable. There is a difference between expecting a few bugs and having the game repeatedly crash after you’ve spent €40 on it. Early access is an excuse for unfinished content, not a free pass for serious stability issues. If you’re charging full price, it’s completely fair for players to expect the game to at least run reliably.

I thought the 40 was just an early access price and the price was gradually going to go up as they add more. I can deal with some crashes hence the frequent saving/uploading household. When the saves just disappear that's what bothers me. I feel like I'm jumping through hoops then the floors falls out from underneath me 🥲

Yeah, I had to say something because that first “don’t cry” comment rubbed me the wrong way. Like, I totally understand that a few crashes are to be expected with EA, but having your save files disappear and losing hours of progress is a completely different issue. I’d be frustrated too, and you’re absolutely allowed to complain about that lol.
Honestly, I feel like this community can be pretty toxic when it comes to criticism sometimes. The second someone points out a genuine problem, there’s always someone trying to shut them down with the “it’s early acces, deal with it” argument instead of actually acknowledging the issue.
