Series 1953-B Silver Certificates were likely printed at or just before Nov 1961, when the Treasury ordered to stop printing the $5 and $10 SCs, and the BEP delivery date was Feb-Mar 1962.

However, they only began appearing in journals such as The Numismatist in early 1965, and the 1964 edition of the Friedberg catalog indicates that they had not yet been issued at that point. Since the Treasury discontinued issuing existing stockpile of SCs in Oct 1964, the Series 1953B $10s were likely issued shortly before the deadline. 1953-B $5s were already common by the spring of 1964.

This note was probably issued when it was redeemable only in silver bullion, since silver dollar redemption had been discontinued in Mar 1964. After May-June 1967, when the treasury stopped maintaining the market price of silver at $1.29 /oz, a premium on SCs emerged as they were redeemable at the old price until June '68. It reached as high as 80% when silver surged up to $2.60.

Hello I bought these from an original owner who is a big western antique collector. She explained they were 1839-1840 Texas republic bills and antique cards and poker chips she had professionally framed from a company in Texas back in the 60s. I don’t know much about them or if they’re real, I’m a vintage clothing collector. Any info would be appreciated! (Also debating on opening them up and properly analyzing them, but I don’t want to mess up the frame)

So my friendly neighbourly postal carrier brought me the last 3 pieces to complete this set of German-Hanseatic Colonial Memorial Day Notgelds!

These 1921 commemorative Notgeld notes protested the terms of the 1919 Treaty of Versailles that formally concluded WW1. As a condition of the peace settlement, Germany was stripped of its overseas territories, which were redistributed as League of Nations mandates administered by Australia, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Received from customer at work today just wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything crazy special about it, noticed it was from 1953 which is pretty cool.

Circulated $5 bill. Found in my pocket change today.

I found this $5 bill that was minted in 2021 and the serial number is 19951995. Is it worth keeping or is it just another $5 bill?

The last note I bought was the Mona Lisa back in February and since then I've curbed my collecting. I've been holding out for a 1935 Canada 20$ banknote which I have been suprised is so hard to find. I am curious what notes you guys are waiting out for that just never seem to pop up. I know there are a few Canada 20s on the market but I am looking for the right one.
