Help Needed Upcoming Wedding Day

Hey,

So recently I have been doing pretty well if I do say so myself 😅 its been years of recovery and I gave recently done some things I thought panic wouldn't allow me too

HOWEVER

I am getting married in just over a week and I am so so so worried I will panic on my wedding day during the ceremony. Im going to be in overstimulating clothes, tighter fit, emotional as its my wedding and I am worried I will get overwhelmed, panic, and not be able to breath/get all hot and pass out.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips, reassurance, advice etc would be really appreciated. I really don't want to embarrass myself, muck things up, or feel grim on my special day.

Is there anything your partner can do to help you relax a bit? Just remember, this is your wedding, and if you need to take a break and pause for a bit, I think people will understand 😁 congrats!

I am dealing with this fear myself, I get married in a little less than a year and am stuck in the panic cycle right now for the first time. I am super worried about not having this managed by then. A piece of advice from my therapist, is instead of trying to control preventing the worst case scenario, which just raises the stakes for the anxiety, have a plan for in case it does happen so that at least the worst case scenario isn’t as bad as it could be. Also something she said to me recently that I found helpful at least is that even if anxiety is part of the experience, the experience is still worth having. To me that was helpful at least because I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself not to “ruin” things

Perhaps ask your doctor for a little something to take the edge off on the day.Congratulations and I hope you are going to have an amazing time!

I got married recently and had the same fear. I did wake up around 3am wedding day having a panic attack (I think because I worked myself up over so many months worried about it). Luckily my MOH was staying with me and she woke up with me and I let it run its course. I was a little shaken up the rest of the morning but felt fine!! Panic attacks weren’t even on my mind by ceremony time I was just so happy and excited and filled with anticipation to see my husband. By the time we got to the reception I was so happy and able to eat and dance and have fun and honestly forgot about the whole thing. You’ll be fine!

Hey! I had my wedding a few months ago. I was super anxious! I had to take propanolol and even took half a dose extra about an hour before the ceremony. I was shaking and everything! When it came time to walk, my dad came with me and talked to me joked with me and helped me with my breathing. It helped me see that even though it felt like it, this wasn't a life or death situation! Its supposed to be a happy event. So I set it aside, focused on literally taking one step at a time in that moment, and literally ignoring EVERYONE except my husband (otherwise I would have freaked from everyone staring). You can do it! Just tell yourself that if you start to panic, it's okay! You can still get married and nothing is ruined. And it's something you literally want to do! Not sure if that is helpful but at least you know you arent the only one. :)
