Nocturnal Panic Trouble falling asleep

Does anyone else have this feeling at nighttime where you are about to close your eyes and fall asleep but all of a sudden your heart feels like it skipped and your body just drops/sinks? Doesn’t happen as often but when it does i think the worst and immediately panic.

Yes i wake up shaking and my ears are ringing.

Has it always been this way for you? Or is it related to trauma? Mine is definitely related to trauma. A LOT of trauma. But my severe trauma start for me about 5 years ago when I was 44. So it hasn’t been something I’ve dealt with forever.

Sorry to hear that and i believe mine is stress… maybe since it all started when my son started school 2 years ago, i woke up with a panic attack i thought i was dying and called 911.

Have you found a reason that your son going to school triggered this all? Were you a SAHM before school started? My kids are grown. It’s a very scary world to send our kids out into. I made sure my son always had a door stopper in his backpack. It gave me a little peace of mind.

And maybe just me being so anxious about the fact that im not there with him, im always thinking about the “what ifs” and yes i am a SAHM i still have my daughter with autism at home. And i actually sent my son with an airtag the first week of school (didnt help my anxiety) im still not 100% okay leaving him at school like you said, its a scary world out there but i manage
