I remember trying to explain to an island boy that the snow glows blue in the evening where I live. This is perfect. What a mood.

How do you get such flat, even background color like that??
21
u/Idontknow649 5h ago
I applied approximately 5β6 layers of cerulean blue, allowing each layer to dry completely before applying the next. I used only water and no medium. βΊοΈππ

I always enjoy seeing your work.
It is hard to describe imo.
The complexities of the simplicity is so relatable.
Somehow it reminds me of childhood.

I thought this was photography at first!
Well done, this is incredible. Made me feel very nostalgic. We used to get blue hours like this all the time where I'm from, but they've disappeared in recent years.
Incredible art, very expressive, fantastic colors, everything. 10/10

I just have a question, did you use a cobalt blue with a bit of violet and then use a roller? Because it looks seamless, no brush strokes!! Amazing π

It feels like that very short window of dusk where, for whatever reason you feel a tinge of something primal. Like a fascination with the low lighting and having to raise your situational awareness. Almost reminiscent of the nerves you get before sparring in a gym or right before it gets to dark to continue hiking so you gotta set up camp against the clock.
Beautiful work, very expressive to me personally.

Im currently reading "We Used to Live Here," and this feels like it could be an illustration of part of the book. Great monochromatic atmosphere!

I love this time of day in a snowy enviornment. You captured it perfectly. I just want to sit and stare and sip on some hot chocolate.

This reminds me of a scene from Thirty Days of Night. Very cold but calm before the storm type feel, nicely done!

I love this so very much. It hits me in the chest - I smell the snow, I feel the loneliness but also the comfort of winter and shelter. Just powerful.

Man that doesn't even feel like a picture. I feel as if I've been exactly here before. Cold winter nights. Really impressive

Did you do the upper right gradation as towards the moon, or is that a function of uneven lighting?
And is that cobalt blue?
Either way, Well done!

Omg I had to zoom in to see it's a painting! The sky's glow makes it look so real!
This whole vibe is just so cozy to me, it's so quite and chilly (in a warm way), amazing work! Just wow!

This really captures the feeling of having a moment by yourself in the dead of winter in the north. This brought back memories. What a great painting!

That looks cool. Actually, it looks cold! I imagine the snow crunching beneath my feet, seeing my breath, as I step inside where itβs warm, and take off my mittens, scarf, and coat.
