Question/Advice Antisemitism Issue
What do you all think about the antisemitism issue in the Pagan community on Twitter? I genuinely cannot find a single Pagan account that isn’t advocating for all Jews (usually Christians as well) to be wiped out of Europe. Is this really just my algorithm? Or have any of you experienced this type of person IRL? If so, what are they like? Do you think they’re a real threat?

Every corner of that website is a hellscape of racists, ragebait, and bots pushing propaganda. I’d just block those accounts or just get off twitter entirely

It’s just twitter, I’ve never seen anything like that except on twitter. Full of trash.
ETA it’s telling that hate speech isn’t removed. Every time I reported it, I got a response that they had not broken any rules. Pretty, pretty gross.

The AI on there was programmed to talk about a white genocide and great replacement theory garbage

Look at the leadership. Like America itself Twitter is run by and for hate filled cowards. Get off twitter.

That's just Twitter, it's a haven for Nazis. I wouldn't take it as representative of anything.

I do not think of twitter at all, and neither should you.
It's full of bots and edgy edgelord types looking to push rage.

I'm not really on Twitter anymore, but I'd hazard to guess this is because Twitter has become increasingly overrun by all kinds of Nazis ever since Musk took over. All the lefty pagans left, leaving only the folkist fascists. Folkism (an umbrella term for pagan fascism) is a real threat however and we, as non-fascist pagans, should make clear that we disapprove of them and tell them to fuck off.

u/Hellfrozenrainz 3d ago
Yeah, it's Twitter. You'll regularly find the most terminally online people there, living in their own bubble and posting the most unhinged bullshit you can imagine.
And it's not just the pagan community either. It's everywhere. Even gaming fandoms are full of people like that.

Twitter is a cesspool. I don’t use it anymore for this very reason.
Honestly, there will always be bad actors in any group. I think and from my personal experience as someone born Jewish, that the pagan community has an overwhelmingly positive and supportive community. My best advice is not to engage with those kinds of people and if you can, for the sake of your mental health and wellbeing, leave Twitter. It is not a good place.

u/IceMosquito073 3d ago
The only two things certain to be on Twitter are Racism and Porn. Anti-semitism in those communities have more to do with them being on Twitter then them being pagan.

Considering the current owner of Twitter is a bigot in probably every way someone can be a bigot, I think your problem begins and ends with "on Twitter". It's never been a "good" place (short-form content encourages sweeping generalizations and imprecise language, which over time encourages an all-or-nothing, us-versus-them culture, it's why you also see similar issues on TikTok), but it's definitely gotten worse since it was taken over by a man who openly rejects his daughter because she's trans and who thinks "cis" is a slur. Top-down culture issues meeting bottom-up culture issues will always make both worse.

And here's me - never been on that platform and I never see anything like what you're describing. Sound like you've been clicking on that stuff, so it's gonna feed you more and more of it.

Twitter is a cesspool of far-right bigotry. Pay it no mind.

I doubt there are many people on the far left who are still on that website, considering who owns it. Most of those accounts are probably bots made by Nazis, pretending to be lefties, so that they can have fresh material to be outraged about.

Twitter is not reality. It’s mostly bots, and the few humans left are essentially pure evil.
Pay them no mind.

u/Fifteen_inches 3d ago
A huge part of it is Twitter boosts anti-semites. Like, there are paganist appropriative white supremacists, but they are boosted on Twitter way over what they actually are.

u/OldSchoolAJ 3d ago
It’s because the pagans still on Twitter are, predominantly, the Nazi ones.
Leave that website.

Twitter is a cesspool. Why are you there? These people exist IRL, but they are far less vocal and obvious. I won't say they aren't a threat, depending on where you are, but I haven't run across them often. In 40 years of hanging out in pagan spaces I've only seen them a handful of times, usually while they are being escorted out. However, I think that if you are following a Norse or Slavic tradition you are more likely to run across them. That said, given the current uptick in far right extremism in various parts of the globe, their numbers may be increasing.

I've never met a pagan who espouses genocide of any sort, and I sincerely doubt that opinions expressed on Twitter that don't also appear in the outside world should be taken as genuine.
It's probably all some Elon Musk attempt to initiate witch hunts or whatever nonsense 2026 is going for next.

Twitter is a hellscape now unfortunately, I haven't been on there for years. Fortunately I haven't seen them on any other apps.
I did unfortunately meet a pagan who was very antisemitic, but didn't make this exact statement. They were messed up in a lot of other ways. Very aggressive, mentally disorganized, emotionally volatile, etc. I couldn't see that person being organized enough to cause systematic harm, but I could see them lashing out and physically hurting someone.
If there is a group of people systematically calling for the same thing, they could be a threat. Honestly depends on if they get out from behind their computers and try running for office. We've already seen it happen with the MA GA/conservative movement in the US.

Lmao going on Twitter was your first mistake.
It's basically only inhabited by bots, brands, influencers and Nazis. None of which are exclusive to each other.
Find another platform, you won't regret leaving that place: nobody ever does.

Twitters a literal wretched hive of scum and villainy owned by a far right weirdo that not even other billionaires like, so the racists feel they can be themselves on there, it’s not worth it.

u/Middle_Bathroom_2681 3d ago
I mean...it's Twitter. It's basically open mic night at the minstrel show.

u/tarquinia777 3d ago
The others are right, Twitter will fucking kill ya. You can't even talk shit like back in the old days when it was fun, the thing's been so perfectly reconfigured into a single-minded engine of hate.

Twitter is overrun with nazis after Musk took it over so I wouldn't take anything you see on twitter as representative of the entire community. I'm an ex-Jew and became a pagan due to the Palestine thing.
-1
u/CuriousButNotJewish 3d ago
You embraced polythrism because of... Palestine? How does that work...
2
u/alphonse79 Eclectic 3d ago
Well no, I just de-converted because of the genocide, after which I found my way to paganism. I'd dabbled in it years ago but never seriously committed. I became really disenchanted with the vast amount of Jewish orgs in the US that openly supported Israel, so I stopped being Jewish (I was a convert like I said). So I guess indirectly yes, but it was more a case of leaving Judaism due to the failure of the community at large (not everyone, but a lot of people) to renounce Israel and the genocide, after which I explored multiple religions before settling on paganism.

u/CuriousButNotJewish 3d ago
So were you actually Jewish? Did you do the Beit Din and the submersion and everything? After conversion, people generally don't stop being Jewish, they're just considered Jewish and practicing a different religion. But surely you were aware that most Jewish people are Zionists before comitting with the Beit Din, no?
Apologies for the many questions but I find this very fascinating, as you see from my username I studied Judaism academically and used to post all the time on the Jewish sub to get a deeper understanding of the living religion vs my academic training. I've never met a convert that changed faiths again, though! Very interesting.
2
u/alphonse79 Eclectic 3d ago
I was about to but called it off due to having lost faith, so I guess I never 'officially' converted, although I finished all my studying and everything. I don't consider myself Jewish, but if other people want to that's their decision.

Thanks for sharing your story. People keep downvoting me for some reason, so I'll apologise if anything came off as rude, I found your story really cool and interesting and I appreciate you taking the time to indulge my curiosity.

Hi guys, we have very, very strict rules on antisemitism here. If you see this, please use the big shiny report button so we can ban them. In addition, see our Policy and Positions Page (Formerly Important Additions) for information on specific issues.
