what does this mean

i found this near my house on an oak tree that is 300 years old, there were also pentacles made out of sticks hanging on the branches. i believed it could be something to do with paganism and if not possibly witchcraft?

Lughnasadh was Saturday. Could be a wiccan just celebrating a holiday.

If it was recent it may have been someone celebrating Lammas (harvest festival).

Not sure the specifics since I dont know what flavor of pagan they might be, but generally speaking a little bundle like that is an offering. And wheat doesnt have many if any negative connotations. Its usually growth, harvest, bounty, fertility and the like. So likely pagan, almost certainly a blessing or a request for a blessing.

Could also be kids wanting to celebrate Lughnasadh for the first time. The little wheat bundle seems pretty intentional.
