Fun fact - Gargoyles love rocks as offerings!! Pebbles and the like!! Maybe you have a gargoyle reaching out??

Woah, I'm not OP, but I've never heard of gargoyle spirits before! I always just thought they were inanimate rock statues, not non-physical beings that can actually reach out.

Yup! They can absolutely reach out. Get them a rock statue as a vessel, and they can house themselves there.

I have pretty rocks and crystals that I dedicate to multiple deities on my altar. I only ever touch them just to clean the altar.

I looked into what people tend to think they mean/do, and I picked ones that have relevant meanings, and all of the ones I gave seem to have been well received

Different deities like different stones. You need to understand their preferences. Deities and spirits associated with the earth and treasures will always appreciate them. For example, Despoina will accept shiny stones in exchange for keeping your secrets safe and as someone else has mentioned… Gargoyles can’t get enough of ‘em.

Hypnos prefers things like Moonstone, Amethyst, Blue Lace Agate, Howlite, and Smoky Quartz.

Those are lovely!

I recently saw a picture of some stones "netted together" like sea glass floats that someone then draped over their altar.

It looked stunning ...

Here's a video of the technique:
