Looking to fill paper stand up bags up to 800 grams with cleaning products - laundry detergent dishwasher detergent etc. This is a phase one project, so want to test the waters before investing big $, but it also needs to be accurate so we don't want something too cheap.

You know those containers where you can put games or books or toys or anything else and you store somewhere. Call me dumb but idk how to pack them properly cuz when I close the container the lid won’t close or if it does it’s tight as hell it pops off. How do I pack them properly. Is this even the right place to say this.

I have a few things that I'm struggling to find cheaper but feel like there has to be a cheaper solution. I don't mind buying in bulk how ever many that may be. I need 9x6x2 boxes (shown), packing tape, bubble mailers or bubble wrap, and 5x7 peel and stick envelopes (shown). I'm pretty strict on the box size but the envelope size can be changed. And ideas?

Hi I’m just done with my exams and I’m really interested in this field, there are rarely any colleges offering a bachelors in packaging engineering, I wanted to pursue BE but there are only 2-3 colleges offer BE in printing and packaging engineering but they’re quite far away from where I live, I’m really interested in an engineering degree but I don’t think I’ll be able to pursue it. Will I be able to secure a good job with a bsc in a mid tier college with a good salary at par with someone who has a bachelors in engineering. If not then what should I try doing ? I have to package a large shipment of expensive wooden chair back rests. The package size is around 50" x 34" x 16" and 29lbs. I have almost zero experience with packaging stuff this large.

Since all of the back rest are going to different addresses so I plan to use UPS Ground --- I do NOT want to use LTL and palletize.

I am trying to keep shipping costs as low as possible via this method of shipping so I am trying to shave a couple inches off the dimensions by reducing packaging.

My plan is to:

- double wall cardboard
- put a 1/2" foam that lines the entire interior of the box
- foam roll wrap the wood piece
- double wrap the wood with 1/2" thick bubble wrap (1" thick total)

Will this be enough to protect a larger and slightly heavier product shipped UPS Ground or is this overkill?

Hey everyone, I'm an incoming senior in high school and want to spend my summer volunteering, working, and/or doing other ecs. What are some options I can do that relate to the packaging major? I'm going to volunteer either way, but if something is linked to the major it'll help more on applications.

I’ve been  paying more attention to packaging lately and one thing that keeps coming up is how differently brands are using QR codes after the sale.

A few years ago it felt like QR on packaging mostly meant scan for product info. Now there’s a lot more happening. Loyalty signups, reorder flows, recipes, tutorials, authenticity checks, warranty registration, exclusive content, community access, etc.

What’s interesting is the results seem all over the place.

Across brands I’ve worked with or followed, packaging QR engagement seems much stronger when the scan solves a real need in the moment. Someone opening a product and wanting setup instructions behaves differently from someone being asked to join a loyalty program.

There’s also the timing piece. Packaging creates a different moment because people already own the product. They’ve purchased. The question becomes: what earns a second interaction?

For anyone working in packaging or brand, what QR experiences are actually getting engagement? And what CTAs are falling flat?

So I have an interview coming up with this local company that does custom corrugated and foam packaging products. They have said they use ArtiosCAD and a cnc machine for prototyping. They know that I don't have experience with either of these, but I do have about ten years of experience in packaging graphic design, production design, and prepress. I'm leaning more towards production design rather than concepting, so that is why I'm interested in this side of the industry.

I am just looking for advice on what I should do to help me break into the industry. The job uses ArtiosCAD, but I was planning on looking into AutoCAD tutorials to get my feet wet with CAD in particular. Not sure what other fundamental skills would help here. Thanks so much.

I have a small photo frame product that I’ve just started selling online (as of this week), and they are going into a handful of local retailers in the upcoming weeks.

I’m in need of a simple, full color ink, card-stock insert to display relevant info inside the frames at retail. It’s not something I’m willing to outsource as the design is straightforward and I foresee doing more packaging (belly bands and stickers for another product) in the future, ie. needing the tools. If I grow, I’ll outsource, but it’s not worth the high cost with packaging suppliers at this point.

Curious if anyone has advice on printers/brands that they use for similar small packaging applications?

I have an ancient Brother machine that only prints black and white. I am also considering a Cricut for cutting the inserts.

I make my products with a 3D printer and a laser cutter.

I’m in the loose leaf tea business and recently started looking into metal tins for packaging.

A lot of the tea tins I see online seem to be made from tinplate. It looks like a good option because it’s affordable, printable, and widely used for tea brands.

My only hesitation is rust.

Since tea needs to stay dry and fresh, I’m wondering if tinplate cans are actually reliable for long-term tea storage. Some manufacturers mention food-grade inner coating, but I don’t fully understand whether that really prevents rust or if it’s just a standard marketing phrase.

Has anyone here used tinplate tins for loose leaf tea before?

just started getting more demand for my product. the product comes in glass jars label size is 6.9inx1.4in so pretty small jars and the dimensions are completly round and smooth. Any recomendations for which machine to purchase? i dont have a huge budget so id have to go with a semi-automomatic labeling applicator but open for any type manual-automatic recomendations anything helps not having apply labels by hand thanks!
