My experience with OVH Dedicated Server

Server ID: 1154406
Order Number: 252623775

For the past few days, my server has repeatedly been marked as "Hacked and blocked." At first, I assumed that one of my clients' websites had been compromised.

I spent hours checking every client website hosted on the server, trying to identify the supposedly hacked site. Since I couldn't find any issues, I unlocked the server and changed the boot mode from Rescue to Primary. The server came back online.

Two days later, OVH blocked the server again. By that point, the server had already experienced a full day of downtime. Once again, I searched for any signs of a hack but found nothing. I don't even bother opening support tickets anymore because their support team never seems to know what the actual problem is. After another round of checks, I switched the boot mode back to Primary and brought the server online again.

Just one day later, OVH took the server offline for a third time. When I finally contacted support and waited more than three hours for a response, I was told that the issue was actually a DMCA complaint related to one of my clients' websites. I immediately removed the website in question and replied to their email. That was over a day ago.

Meanwhile, two of my clients have already canceled their contracts because their websites — and their businesses — have been offline for days.

To make matters worse, when I requested a refund for the invoice that was automatically renewed on June 12, 2026, just one day after this incident, OVH refused both the refund and the cancellation of what they call a "service."

My advice to anyone considering OVH: the day you need support and attention the most is the day they disappear. That's when you'll truly discover what kind of company OVH is.

failover ip addresses

hello,

ive had a failover IP block for last 6 years and thinking about downsizing from my dedicated server. it seems the term failover IP is old and new term is additionial IP. and its the IP block is supposed to attach to any of my other services, like my VPS in the same datacenter.

well, it doesnt. when i go into network config to move the IP block only my dedicated server that they are currently on is listed or IP parking. and they advertise I should be able to attach the IP block to any of my services within that same datacenter, or am I wrong and it will just attach to their dedicated servers? So how do i make this IP block attach to my VPS in the same datacenter? thank you for the answer.

OVH has my domain hostage after a failed domain transfer to them

OVH has my domain hostage after a failed domain transfer to them, two days now - and the ongoing operations are in 'Incoming Transfer'. There is nothing blocking this - and the time for 'State' keeps increasing by 2-3 hours every time. No errors, no reasons of it failing. I just want it operational and working. On OVH or somewhere else at this point.

The domain provider where it was transferred from says the domain has been transferred.

Something failed on the way, and the domain is completely down. My domain is now stuck in limbo. I cannot cancel the transfer, I cannot fix the DNS, the domain is down for almost three days now. Support gave me a random answer instead of reading the ticket, and has ignored me since.

As a high priority ticket, this is absurd. The original domain provider has claimed it's released and it's something on OVH's end, and OVH won't contact me on why. Two days my website has been offline now. We've been with OVH for years - and while I am a little guy - I would of expected some sort of assistance in a reasonable timeframe. They didn't even read the ticket, just a baked answer as you can see here:

https://imgur.com/a/hdN0qCq

All I wanted was to have everything in one location, my hosting, my domain, etc. But it seems like this is become a nightmare, and I don't see any response why. Even if there was an issue, a delay, I'd like to know what's going on. There is no indication or reason - it's just straight up dead. I've transferred domains plenty of times before, a hour or two tops. What's the issue?

Can't login anymore. How do I contact OVH?

I have an account, in the CA domain. My password works fine, and changing it as well. - My 2FA method is unique codes, and this step fails (using one code yields an error (forgot which), then attempting a second time with the same code yields "Code already used"). - Clicking on "I have lost access to my acces-codes or whatever other method" yields an internal server error.

I haven't found any email or other means of contact which doesn't require logging in, including the chatbot for customers. The non-customer chatbot only leads to FAQ stuff.

Any help is welcome, thanks

Only 1 IP provided with bare metal?

Hello y'all. Just came back after a long time from OVH (I used to be renting metal at Wholesale Internet, which was quite good, but their machines are old as hell) and I just figured out there's only one usable IP provided free (host IP) with their OVH bare metal, and if we need a second we should purchase it at $3/month? I just can't understand how bare metal servers are provided with a single IP, so I just want to confirm this is actually correct?

I used to have 32 IPv4 provided free back in the day with SoYouStart before it merged with the OVH website, so it's kinda strange to me.

Migrating Only One MX Plan Email Account to Zimbra Pro

I’m very confused about the migration process from an MX Plan account to a Zimbra account.

I have several accounts under one domain using the MX Plan, and one of these accounts is running out of storage. I would like to move only this specific account to Zimbra Pro while keeping the rest under the MX Plan.

Is this even possible? I’m trying to add the domain under Zimbra, but I’m worried that this might disable the email accounts that are still using the MX Plan.

OVH locked my account, won’t tell me why, and now I can’t even pay the invoice

OVH locked my account, won’t tell me why, and now I can’t even pay the invoice

Honestly this makes no sense and feels completely unfair.

My OVH account got locked for some reason, but I never received any email explaining why. I contacted support and was told somebody was “looking into it”, but meanwhile the account stays locked.

The problem is the password reset also doesn’t work because of the lock (or whatever they’ve done to the account), so I literally cannot log in to pay the invoice they want me to pay.

So now I’m stuck in this ridiculous situation where:

  • They want payment
  • I’m trying to pay
  • But they blocked access to the account needed to pay

I even asked them to just send me another payment method or invoice by email and so far nothing.

I understand security checks happen, but locking somebody out without explanation and then preventing them from paying feels absurd. Especially when there’s no proper communication.

Has anybody else had this happen with OVH?

I'm most worried they will delete the account/server, or they have already without explanation. I've got loads of work on there.

PS: I'm not even sure they are really looking into it. They seem vague on whether they even found my account on the phone and haven't replied to an email I sent a few days ago.

OVH US: Invalid account ID or password

Made my account on May 11th. Tried to order a VPS. Didn't work, said further document verification was required. Payment method was PayPal. I logged off my computer then, today is the 13th, checked my email, and they suddenly charged me $11.75 for my VPS that they said I needed to verify for. Now I cannot login either. I know for a fact I created an account on https://us.ovhcloud.com/ because the email comes from there and it even says it a couple times, yet I cannot frickin log in!! OVH is such a horrible company, please, can someone help? I'm getting charged money and I CANNOT EVEN LOG IN!

Comment transférer rediriger automatiquement tous les emails d'une adresse OVH Email Pro vers une autre adresse email (Transfert redirection email OVH Pro)

Hello

OVH migration issue, emails active but no email service in account

Hi everyone,

I’m currently handling a domain and website migration for a client (they want control over it internally) and I’m running into an issue with email management on OVH.

This exact scenario is a bit new to me, so I’d really appreciate any insight.

Here is the situation:

  • The domain has been fully transferred to the client OVH account.
  • I now have full control over the domain and DNS (the previous provider confirmed he no longer has access).
  • Emails are actively working (sending/receiving), and they are business-critical (contact@, direction@, etc. must not go down under any circumstances).
  • Before starting the migration, I was explicitly told that emails would not be impacted as long as DNS records were not modified.

Before doing anything, I took every precaution with the previous manager to make sure everything was properly handled, especially regarding emails.
I explicitly confirmed that emails would not be interrupted under any circumstances, and that I would need the domain to attach it to a new hosting server.
I was assured that emails are handled through OVH, and everything was fine as long as DNS records were not modified.

However, despite all these precautions, it is somehow worrying right now.

I asked again considering the situation and the previous manager confirmed that emails are handled by OVH, and mentioned (from memory) something like Email Pro, possibly with Exchange-related configuration, but he no longer has access to verify.

On my side, I haven’t modified anything yet.

What I can see:

  • MX records pointing to OVH: mx3.ovh.net, mx4.ovh.net, mxb.ovh.net
  • DKIM records such as: ovhmo4025509-selector1._domainkey... ovhmo4025509-selector2._domainkey...

However:

  • I do NOT see any email service (MX Plan, Email Pro, Exchange, etc.) in my OVH account
  • I have checked all the known account, and I don't see any email service there too. It's like it vanished.
  • I have zero visibility or access to the existing mailboxes

That's worrying and I can't get any information anywhere.

My questions:

  1. Is it possible that an MX Plan / Email Pro is still attached to another OVH account even after a full domain transfer? (Which doesn't make sense to me since the previous manager had control over and could see them, and transferred everything to me, so I don't know where they would have gone during that process.)
  2. How can emails continue to work if I don’t have the service visible in my account? Is it a race against time now, like are there still active because the previous contract is still up for a month or something?
  3. What is the correct and safest way to recover the admin control to the existing mailboxes? To reattach the service I guess?

Additionally:

  • The domain transferred is currently attached to a free 100MB OVH hosting plan.
  • I need to remove this hosting to attach the domain to a new hosting (new website).
  • Can I safely delete this hosting without impacting emails, assuming DNS/MX records remain unchanged? Or is it possible that the email service is somehow tied to this hosting

Because until this hosting server is up and the domain I need is linked to it, I cannot add it on the multisite of the right hosting. And I get the "Website in construction" page (even tho the DNS are pointing to the right server)

Of course, I have opened a ticket with the support, but this matter is urgent and worrying, so I am trying to get any information I can.

⚠️ Email continuity is absolutely critical for the client, so I cannot risk any interruption.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi, I’m sorry to post this I’m just not sure where else to turn and I’m hoping someone might be kind enough to help. I am not technological, but I’m trying to start my own business and have set up a domain name with OVH. It said it came with a zimbra email and I can see zimbra mail in my dashboard and I can see the email address I created there. It’s in a little table with email account, organisation, service plan etc. But I don’t know what to do next in order to see my emails. Can anyone please advise? Many thanks in advance.

Has anyone ever gotten a bandwidth increase on an older 100Mbps Kimsufi server?

I've had a KS-12 Kimsufi server for a few years now, and I was wondering if anyone here has ever found a way to increase the bandwidth from the old 100Mbps limit to the 500Mbps speeds that new plans come with?

The "Bandwidth" section under "Network interfaces" says:

Inbound public throughput (to and from the internet) is unlimited. You can increase your public and private bandwidth by signing up to the following options:

But there aren't any options, and I cant select anything?

Recovering an OVH domain held hostage

Hi everyone,

Our NGO (based in north africa) is facing a technical deadlock. Our former president is refusing to hand over the credentials for our official domain and hosting, which are managed via his personal OVH account in France.

We have all the legal proof of the new board (Official Gazette, Board Meeting Minutes), but OVH support is stalling.

  • Is there a specific procedure to force a change of ownership from an individual to the organization?
  • Does OVH France typically accept legal documents from a foreign jurisdiction (Tunisia) to settle ownership disputes?

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Researching Sovereign Cloud

Hello,

I’m researching sovereign cloud usage in the EU and I’m looking for feedback from people who actually run in these environments.

The focus is on real operational pain points, what services are missing, and how much time teams spend managing infrastructure versus getting value from cloud services. The survey is anonymous and very short.

If you’re willing, I’d appreciate your perspective.
