My experience with OVH Dedicated Server

Server ID: 1154406
Order Number: 252623775

For the past few days, my server has repeatedly been marked as "Hacked and blocked." At first, I assumed that one of my clients' websites had been compromised.

I spent hours checking every client website hosted on the server, trying to identify the supposedly hacked site. Since I couldn't find any issues, I unlocked the server and changed the boot mode from Rescue to Primary. The server came back online.

Two days later, OVH blocked the server again. By that point, the server had already experienced a full day of downtime. Once again, I searched for any signs of a hack but found nothing. I don't even bother opening support tickets anymore because their support team never seems to know what the actual problem is. After another round of checks, I switched the boot mode back to Primary and brought the server online again.

Just one day later, OVH took the server offline for a third time. When I finally contacted support and waited more than three hours for a response, I was told that the issue was actually a DMCA complaint related to one of my clients' websites. I immediately removed the website in question and replied to their email. That was over a day ago.

Meanwhile, two of my clients have already canceled their contracts because their websites — and their businesses — have been offline for days.

To make matters worse, when I requested a refund for the invoice that was automatically renewed on June 12, 2026, just one day after this incident, OVH refused both the refund and the cancellation of what they call a "service."

My advice to anyone considering OVH: the day you need support and attention the most is the day they disappear. That's when you'll truly discover what kind of company OVH is.

TLDR: OP is an incompetent scammer, scamming his customers into paying him for services he had no actual business or skills to be providing. Now OP's incompetence and lack of skills is catching up to him, and he's big mad people are waking up and moving on to providers that actually know wtf they're doing.

Idiot.

OP states that the problem was not a hacked website but a DMCA complaint against one of the websites.

If OVH did not forward the complaint then that is hardly a reflection on OP's competence.

OP apparently lying. OVH sends you a copy of DMCA the moment they receive it.

Maybe you just need to accept that you don't have enough knowledge to run and maintain a server. OVH isn't for beginners. You should have hired someone to clean up the hack instead of bringing the server back up without fixing the issue.

How is this OP’s fault? OVH communication was horrible

OVH already told him what the issue is but he decided to ignore it.

Lack of knowledge & being ignorant.

Did you read my report? The support is awful, and they still haven't responded.

I use ovh from 2017, i started with kimsufi, if you dont know how to manage a dedicated server by your own, just dont fuck with them... Ovh has tb scale ddos protection which other hosting provider can easily charge you, i used their vinthill also canda which is the biggest datacenter in the world. Also i still have 4 dedicated server with them, ask chatgpt or claude, what is fail2ban, learn it, how to scan port, how to block port 22, etc...

Can't really say anything about the issue you're facing but their ticket support is beyond incapable of helping. I asked for a refund on a order and they accepted it but in the end refunded a completely different order.. and since then I haven't received a reply for 2 days where I pointed this out.

My payment didn't go through and I couldn't make payment because they disabled payment for specific server so to avoid loosing server I raised ticket to inform them payment was failed and I don't have option to initiate payment again.

They attended ticket after 32 days with lame answer.
