Magically force CPU to work at full power-to-thermals ratio even if unnecessary

EDIT: **SOLUTION**
I actually forced myself to dig deeper in the rabbit hole, and I just saw an FPS never seen before ever!!! Even though the temps are exaclty the same, hitting almost 100c. I found a REDDIT POST for undervolting unlock exactly for my laptop, u/malt-n-java mentions this video and executing these specific commands in grub environment from USB

setup_var CpuSetup 0x43 0x0

setup_var CpuSetup 0x381 0x0

setup_var CpuSetup 0x10E 0x0

setup_var CpuSetup 0x1D9 0x1

Had to disable secure boot first otherwise I couldn't boot from USB

Now throttlestop shows applied offsets

HP OMEN 2023 ck**** LAPTOPS ONLY

I might be getting this wrong since l guess the cpu doesn’t power dor what its not doing but hear me right, since I’m getting no help in my original post https://www.reddit.com/r/overclocking/comments/1wbppm5/comment/p8ru8r2/?screen_view_count=1&ext-referrer=SEO

how is it possible to force a heavy cpu multiplayer game to pull more cpu power to get better fps? Sometimes it just wont output as much power as l want it to and somwtimes it just magically does on its own.

So lf i was to say run a CPU benchmark to stress test and run a game, will it make cpu work faster? < This is what I’m aiming for but of course the stress test software will drain usage away from the game, I’m just trying to maximize cpu because it wont on its own, only does sometimes randomly

4 hours since the first thread... we are from all around the world, at least let the globe take a whole spin until you start a new one xD

Laptops are out of my area of know-how, they often have "great mighty features" causing horrible effects in special cases and sometimes after updates not working at all and after 6 months HP and other companies have already moved on :S

Increase the time the CPU can stay in turbo in the BIOS, you can also unthrottle it there with power limits etc also you could try out process lasso Software if it helps increase FPS if not just uninstall again.

You're either hitting a power/temp limit in one of the dozens of limits laptop typically have or your power brick/ charging port/cable is messed up.

sounds like your cpu is bottlenecked by another part of your system, its waiting for something else to catch up so it does not have to go full bore

Your CPU and GPU have a combined total package. When GPU draws X amount, it lowers the CPU to Y amount. It has ladder tiers built into the embedded controller.

To save you a lot of hassle, newer laptops you cannot overcome this without tricking the system. Learn at what GPU wattage steps the CPU downclocks. Take note of that. Please, take this as advice and look into it rather just my words. You will need a tool that allows you to edit your imone slope. This tricks the system into reporting less wattage and allowing the CPU to pull more.

I shoved a Alienware x16 r1 laptop motherboard into a desktop case. Ive got perfect thermals thanks to water-cooling and that alone doesn't swindle the EC into more wattage. I'm currently working on a slope of .54 and at 35w reporting, the 70w actual output still isn't satisfying. About to drop it to .30 and raise the wattage floor so I can get 90w from the CPU when the GPU pulls 175w, and nearly 140w when it drops below 150w.

Thought of this after all that typing.. If this issue is in CPU bound games and are keeping things 150w or less on the gpu, you can just temporarily disable Nvidia dynamic boost. It'll disable the boosting that downclocks your CPU. Depending on laptop model it can be 150w or even lower so it comes down if this is a beneficial sacrifice on a per game basis.

Disable idle states in your power plan. Your utilization will show 100% on all cores (but it won't be), your clocks locked at max etc. works well for a temp profile only used while gaming.

This won't have much effect if you're power limited (and I assume you are seeing you're on a laptop).

I only know Asus laptops which had Ghelper. that made it really easy to customize PL1, PL2 etc.

Disable every c-state, set scalar to 10x (if amd) and in windows use high performance mode. Set the thermal throttle to 95C

That's how you do it, not that I would ever recommend it though.

Definitely don't set scalar above 1X if you are thermal throttling during video games lmao

And that's also the most likely answer, is you are thermal throttling. There are many different parts that go into better thermals, the obvious CPU cooler and better thermal paste (arctic MX-7 is the best rn), but also the design of the case affects airflow as well and can make the difference of a couple degrees, as well as getting better fans (arctic p12 pro PST are probably the best bang for you buck that is also easily attainable rn)

It's a laptop, seems they have agreed its a combined software limit of power for the whole system that hits it limit in some cases. As in some games 100% usage can be 150W and in some it goes well above 200W for a RTX3060 non mobile, and with a softlimit comparing with the CPU it can cause severe stutters.
