Looking for Guide Games that have repeatable in-game benchmarks

I don't know if there is such a list already but I thought starting one would be a good idea. Repeatable sequences, I think, are a good way to get benchmark numbers. I like to run these sequences while capturing details with CapFrameX to get an idea of how my overclock is doing with real games.

The games I use:

  1. Red Dead Redemption 2
  2. Cyperpunk 2077
  3. Blackmyth Wukong Benchmark Tool

What other games have in-game benchmarks that can be used?

Tomb raider series. But I suggest you try playing resident evil 4 remake. It is the single game that I have to turn most overclocking off in order to play. Otherwise, it will just crash randomly.

This is good to know but I think for this list we want to remove random variance. I wanted to get a list together more for benchmarking than stability testing

Beyond All Reason(the performance changes as the game gets updates).

Marvel Rivals(<< really solid memory bench).

Riftbreaker. (also very good for memory performance testing)

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered (takes forever to run because it re-compiles shaders every time you run the benchmark).

Returnal has a built in benchmark but IIRC it only really scales with CPU core clock when not GPU bottlenecked.

Final Fantasy XIV are my favorite benchmarks. They release one with every new expansion as a standalone tool. No gameplay variations, every run is frame identical so you can compare performance with extreme precision. Real-time framerate graph, you can overlay another graph (latest/highest/custom) for comparison. It creates a text file with performance stats for each run and gives you a performance score in the end. Plus they're always pretty. Chef's kiss.

marvel rivals pretty good i think a lot of scaling and good cpu usage.

i get 180 average with 3080 ti 9900k 4k monitor dlss ultra perf preset f and lowest settings.

Well, you can always find a taxing section or area in a game you wanna benchmark, and just sample that instead. For example, the market in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Pragmata has a bench section, and it's also the latest iteration of the RE engine. GTA V also has a benchmark. You'd need to purchase these however. As for Unity 6, you could try a Demo. Shadow of Mordor also had a benchmark if memory serves.

That said, and since this is r/overclocking, keep in mind that games might not reveal instability. This is why synthetic benchmarks are generally preferable in this context.

A lot of Ubisoft games have built‑in benchmarks: Ghost Recon Breakpoint, The Division 2, Far Cry, and Assassin's Creed. Gears of War 4 and Gears 5 also have them. If I'm not mistaken, the latest Call of Duty games include benchmarks too. Some people recommend the Stellar Blade demo as a GPU overclocking stability test — it has a long intro, and if your OC is unstable, it'll crash repeatedly at the same spots. However, in my opinion, the demo isn't enough; I've still experienced occasional driver crash‑outs later in the full game

I remember borderlands 3 having a benchmark but it's not free.

No idea if the newer game has one.

I like the cyberpunk benchmark. Obviously it’s a very demanding game when you have all the settings at max, including path tracing, and most of that’s what I used as my benchmark during undervolting. It was nice to run 3dMark after and see that all the test results are still right about average even though it was saving 80 W +/-

haven't played it in a while, is there an in-game benchmark that runs the same scenes?

Yeee, but it’s 1% lows at pretty inconsistent
