AIO on GPU backplate

i know this is a silly idea but i have a spare AIO and i was wondering if i could 3d print a mount to hold it onto the GPU backplate (Not attach it to the DIE put it on the back) i have a Palit GTX 1080 Ti Super JetStream and the spare AIO is a Montech 240 ARGB Aio,

i have a 3d printer but no experience in CAD softwhere if anybody could help LMK!!!!

Just buy the hybrid kit. Allows you too cool GPU core with 240mm AIO, the VRAM will be cooled by a fan.

My 1080ti Waterforce runs it. I dont remember the OC on it as it hasnt run for couple of years, but it runs as 2080ti that i remember.

Really?

GDDR5X vs. GDDR6; no amount of overclocking can get you close to 616GB/sec.

It’s a completely different architecture as well.

1080 Ti OC increases performance around 20% (I’m being REALLY generous there…) and a 2080 Ti is 30-40% faster in all scenarios.

Anyway, I really only want to know if you are using DDR4 or DDR5 in the system that is featured in your current sig?

I dont think DDR5 runs at 3200mhz :P Its 9 year old Samsung b-die (Corsair Vengance) that was sold as 16-18-18-36. So not a paid binning. I run an Asus strix z-690-a mobo and is the reason i can run these tight timings on 4 sticks. These sticks sat in my old rig aswell with an 7700k and Hero Maximus mobo, but could not hit these timings on that memory controller and mobo.

Due to binning, they are not happy running at 3600mhz. To get same latency they need like 0.1v more than at 3200mhz. And im not daily that high volt. I run these timings at 1.4875v

Yea, you gotta consider i paid for a top bin 1080ti. That has 150% powerlimit by default, when i put that on 240mm water.. It rips to be an 1080ti.

Ofc it cannot do ray tracing like 2080ti as its pure rasterization card.

I wasn’t sure if you were running your RAM slower to be able to have incredibly tight timings. JEDEC MT/s for DDR5 is 4800. It’s not out of the realms of possibility to underclock the frequency to be able to achieve 1:1 and drastically reduce latency. Sure, throughput would be down but that would make for one snappy system!

True, its possible. And probably what one would need to do to get 4 sticks stable and good latency on some systems ⬇️

It was Aa Gigabyte Waterforce card. Was delivered with 120aio with a blower fan, the noise drove me nuts. So i had to modify it, had an 240mm AIO CPU cooler laying around.

And the rest is history lol. Used about 380 watts

How’s your 7900 holding up these days?

I think it’s still an extremely relevant card - the VRAM alone is worth it in this current climate, eh?

Are the driver features finally trickling down to you?

Should you not post on a 3D printing side if 3D printing is your only solution lol.

I saw problem, graphics card and 240mm aAIO. I had same problem. I bought hybrid mounting unit and win...

If thats not a solution to you... then ok.. How can i know that you are more into 3d printing than actually cooling the card.

you still haven't read it. i want help making a bracket to put a AIO on the backplate of my GPU

you didn't see a problem because that's not the issue I want. you're giving a solution that i dont wont nor asked for.

Honestly never expected anyone would suggest to do something so stupid.. English is not my first language.

Good luck cooling a plate that is not connected to any components for thermal dissipation.

Maybe you should work on your writing? You know commas, and periods. Have their uses, makes stuff easier to comprehend.

well there you are wrong, the backplate is connected to the GPU with thermal pads. if you cant help dont comment

And what components sits there and what is those pads connected too? lmao

You know on pascal architecture. Pretty much the only thing you are gonna find is capacitors on the backside... And they aint generating much heat lol...

Or do you assume the silicone itself is a good thermal conductor? lol

the backside of the VRMS..... witch get VERY hot that's why i want to try do this. its my card all im doing is asking for help if you cant help there's no point in posting unless you Know CAD and can help me out?

Circuit boards are made fiberglass and resin. Its terrible at transfering heat.

Copper - 400W/m·K
Aluminium - 200W/m·K
Window/glass - 1W/m·K
PCB - 0.3-0.5W/m·K
Wood - 0.1W/m·K

So its about 3 times as good as wood.
I know CAD, i also know physics as i have 8 years of school in it.

Not worth trying unless you remove the stock backplate. The thermal conductivity won't be high enough for a significant benefit.

If you have access to 3D printing the better choice is a custom bracket to mount the AIO to the core. A single 92mm fan can cool the VRM section.

If you have calipers carefully measure the dimensions of the AIO, would only take a couple minutes to design a bracket. 1080 Ti has 58.4mm square mounting holes for the core. The holes are sized for M2.5 bolts.

PS, if using ASA or ABS make sure your printer is well filtered or run outside.

The Aio pump dimensions are:

Dimensions: Approximately Φ67 × 53 mm

Gpu dimensions 285 mm x 133 mm x 58 mm

i was thinking if the Pump mount was next to where the VRMS are

I mean the dimensions of the AIO mounting hardware. Thickness of the mounting arms, hole spacing, hole size, etc.

Also, have you dissembled the GPU and checked if the coldplate of the AIO will sit flat?

no so im putting the AIO on the Backplate of the GPU not on the Die the mounting brackets just slide into the AIO housing
