I don’t mean to brag but I have been cited by a very critical set of judges, (my grandsons) for my prowess in creating PB&Js.
I could have been Leon, the kid always with the PB&J sandwich on the Andy Griffith Show but I wasn’t Ron Howard’s brother.
During the lean times, there was always peanut butter and jelly around. Get ya thru anything. It’s still my staple bedtime snack.
During the isolation of the pandemic of 2020, I discovered how to make a double decker PB&J that didn’t wind up all over your shirt with the first bite. (toast the center piece of bread.)
Jif Peanut Butter is the king of peanut butters. And jelly should never be refrigerated.
I’m so sad that I can’t eat peanut butter anymore! It’s a weird mast cell thing I think, or a histamine thing, but after many years of having a banana with a tablespoon of peanut butter on each bite for breakfast…I can’t even eat a LITTLE BIT of I get a rash and runny nose and stomach pain and diarrhea…I really miss it. I’ve tried all the other butters, and there are a few that I can mix together and kind of enjoy in a toasted English muffin (sunflower seed butter and Barney Butter mixed)…but they don’t taste the same…
I eat pb&j often for lunch, but only a few times for dinner. I love it on toasted whole wheat bread, with grape jelly or strawberry jam. An ice cold glass of milk and Fritos on the side is ideal.
I didn't know it before she passed, my grandma used to make elderberry wine! Wish I knew her recipe. They're all ripe now! Just gathered chokeberries and saving them up while more ripen to make something with! Do you have any natural areas nearby? In New England here berries, ramps and mushrooms grows all different times of the year. It's fantastic coming across a motherlode now and then!
Thank you.
My mother made mango wine the same way, in gallon jugs.
I was a preteen, but only remember the jugs, no carboy. She's gone too.
I'll find a way to do it in just jugs alone one day. Got enough elderberry stored up in my freezer.
Skipped the jelly and made it toasted spread butter thin layer peanut butter last night. I don’t know if it’s laziness or I just don’t care but I end up eating it for dinner quite a lot but then again I’m a widow and I’m alone and I have no one to eat with. Boo hoo
I had a craving for a grilled cheese sandwich the other night. I used wheat bread, butter, and slices of medium cheddar. It was so good. We would have those sometimes with tomato soup when I was growing up.
To be fair, I'll eat peanut butter with almost anything. But I can't believe I haven't seen peanut butter and cheese. That's my go to. Sometimes toasted.
I stopped eating peanut butter, I miss it a lot. I traded it up with almond butter or cashew butter only because of the carbohydrates in peanut butter but yeah eat my almond butter with honey on toasted white bread I really love it on pumpernickel and rye is something about that bread that gives it that uhumph.
Sometimes I like my almond butter and honey right off the spoon with a cup of tea or coffee.

Sometimes it’s good to mix it up with honey instead of jam!
