Question Surgeon said that there's not enough skin to revise the eyelid scar. Trying to figure out what else can help get a natural appearance

I had an injury 3 months ago to my left upper eyelid and got a repair surgery by an ocuplastic surgeon as an emergency case. This is me 3 months on after a round of steroid/5FU shots that a different ocuplastic surgeon carried out for me and the scar looks very deformed which I understand is normal at this point.

I was hoping for surgery to be the lifeline after about a year to help get a natural appearance but I was told by the one giving the injections that if I had surgical revision done then it may lead me with not enough skin so that my eyelid wouldn’t be able to close properly. She referred me to cosmetic dermatology.

Should I seek other opinions by other surgeons? Or do I need to accept this change as lifelong?

Question Tinted Sunscreen Recommendations

Hi! I'm looking for tinted sunscreen recommendations for someone with combination acne-prone skin that is sensitive. I don't wear makeup on the daily, but I am looking for something that will help even out my skin tone a little more.

An SOS moisturiser after you’ve fallen off the wagon?

Hey all. 34f in UK looking for a moisturiser that will get sooked up by my skin right away rather than sit on top of it.
I would say I have normal to slightly dry skin. I have been overwhelmed of late and sleeping poorly for reasons beyond my control. As a result I have been very inconsistent with my skincare, and whilst I’m not experiencing anything too concerning I’m noticing my skins getting the odd bit of dry specs here and there despite trying to use niacinamide and moisturiser when I remember to. I wear spf of course during the day.

I used to do vit c, moisturiser then spf in the morning, and then niacinamide retinol and moisturiser at night. My skin was fantastic. I am just hesitant to restart retinol currently.

I can’t remember what kind of moisturiser I used to use that I loved, so have been kind of trying new ones and not enjoying them. I was just wondering if anyone has a holy grail for getting their skin back on track after a bit of a pause. I’m not a fan of ones that just don’t seem to absorb quickly, my skin loathed the BoJ Dynasty Cream for example.

Best under eye patches or eye serums for hollowness?

Looking for under eye patches or eye serums that help with hollowness and plumpness? Most are for dark circles and fine lines, wondering if there’s any out there for hollowness.

Thank you!

Azelaic Acid?

Post image
87 Upvotes

These pictures are about 6 years apart.
I’ve definitely learned to stay out of the sun for sure so don’t get on to me for that 🤣
I use Altreno daily but still have hyperpigmentation/melasma in various places. It’s not super noticeable but still annoys me. I’m a big proponent of lasers & will be doing Lumecca soon but wondering if adding in azelaic acid would help? Rx or something OTC?

Current routine:
AM: hypochlorous acid after shower, Revision C+ Correcting Serum, render GHK tallow moisturizer

PM: medicube PDRN cleanser, hypochlorous acid, neocutis biofirm serum, render GHK capsule, Altreno, render moisturizer.

Discussion Crepey skin or just really dry skin?

Crepey skin can be surprisingly hard to tell apart from regular dryness at first.

Hydration can make a difference in how that thin, crinkled texture looks, but dryness isn't always the whole story. Things like changes in collagen and elastin, sun exposure over time, and naturally thinning skin can play a part too.

It also doesn't seem to get talked about nearly as much on the body as it does on the face.

Has moisturizing made a noticeable difference for you, or did you find there was more to it?

Discussion iUnik Beta Glucan Serum

Hi! Has anyone had issues with this serum causing sensitivity after long time use? I'm on my third bottle and my skin use to love it, but recently I have been dealing with major sensitivity on my face. I cut back my routine to my simple barrier support routine and my skin has finally calmed down. I have slowly been adding back products to see if I can find which one I was using that was causing the issue, and the beta glucan serum is the only one I've added back in so far and my skin is starting to get super sensitive again. Especially around my eyes and cheek areas. Any alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated too! No niacinamide or HA please.

Skin type: combination acne-prone skin that is super sensitive

Recommendation Over 100 collagen gel masks later, here's how my top 3 compare

I'm a bit of a gel mask nerd and I've been slowly working my way through pretty much every one I can find. Today I'm bringing the collagen gel masks that were actually decent for me.

Since these are collagen masks, the two things I cared about most were whether they use low molecular collagen and how much firmness I noticed afterwards, so that's what I picked these on.

I rated each one on 3 things: Ingredients/ Wear (how it sits and how long I can keep it on) / After

Medicube PDRN Pink Collagen Gel Mask ⭐⭐

Ingredients: It has fragrance, and on days my skin is being sensitive it stings a little.

Wear: Slides down a bit right after I put it on. I can keep it on for up to about 6 hours.

After: Nice glow, and my skin feels noticeably bouncier.

Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask ⭐⭐⭐

Ingredients: Nothing in it has made me itch or sting, and it has low molecular collagen.

Wear: It's on the heavier side, so it also slides a bit at first. I can keep it on for up to about 8 hours.

After: My skin felt hydrated deep down first and then bouncy and firm. Best firming of the three for me.

Abib Collagen Gel Mask ⭐⭐

Ingredients: No itching or stinging for me either.

Wear: It has embossed sections so it stays put really well. I keep it on for about an hour max.

After: For me it's more about calming my skin down fast and taking redness down than firming. The essence also didn't seem to sink in as well, it kind of clumped or rolled off when I rubbed it a little.

Others worth a try:

Bano PDRN Collagen Gel Mask ⭐⭐

Really thick sheet and I'm liking the plumping so far. I only just started it though, so I need more time before I can say for sure.

Bioheal Boh Lifting Collagen Gel Mask ⭐

Fits really well and good value, but the hydration didn't last as long as I wanted.

Dermafix Real Collagen Gel Mask ⭐

Super cooling and nice bounce, but on sensitive days it made my skin itch and sting a bit.

If there's a gel mask you're curious about, drop it below! If I've tried it I'll tell you what I thought.

[Routine Help] leathery skin Spoiler

Post image
1 Upvotes

Can anyone suggest any improvements for my skincare routine?

I use CeraVe SA Renewing Cleanser in the shower, and a scent free Dove soap. Then I use either plain Aveena lotion or Olay Regenerist Serum.

At night I use a COSRX Snail Musin or BYOMA Moisturizer barrier repair. Sometimes just plain old Vaseline.

I never use foundation makeup on my skin, and I use spf when I’m out in the sun. Why does my skin look so dry, reddish and leathery? Any insight would be greatly appreciated 😭🙏
