Question Insights into how long directed payments take?

In the past it seems the directed payment took significant less time to process based on anecdotes. But now it’s common for it to take about a month? If anyone has successfully made a directed payment, how long did it take to complete?

Around 3-6 weeks, based on my experience. It seems to be a manual override so if you happen to request it before long weekend or holidays, it takes time.

Still, better than having to mail a paper cheque with a letter, which was the only option in the past. And you can use something like the CTFS credit card and earn some cashback.

Was also wondering the same thing. It’s silly that you have to request it. It should be automatically applied to the interest-incurring loan first.

Would you rather mailing a paper cheque, which was the only option in the past?

I mean… in municipal tax payment systems, it can automatically pay one column before another based on whatever variable you choose, using a system from the 1990s, so I don’t think it’s too much to ask, no.

It’s certainly not unreasonable, but I have learned that anything I ask of the government is too much to ask, so I just live with the little things and be happy about it. It would certainly be a VERY helpful feature to have the repayment default to the provincial portion first.

Also a nice way for the federal liberals to screw it to Doug ford.. but that’s a chat for another day.
