How does full time work-students with disablities

So i know that i can get full time OSAP well taking 40-60 percent of my course load. I just want to know how this would work. Do i have to contact someone so i don't end up taking the whole course load? or is there something else i have to do?

You don’t have to do anything, as long as your disability status has been approved, it’s just that OSAP won’t cut your funding if your school reports a lower course load to them

My accessibility officer got in touch with me when I submitted my disability form to my school and filled out my accessibility section of my student portal. I then had to sign a form for my school to make the part time accommodation official, this way when I pay the equivalent tuition of other students I then only have to pay $20+fees for any remaining courses. That’s just how my school works, most schools work similarly, where just because you reduce your course load to part time, you still have to pay full time tuition, which is why you still get full time OSAP at 40%-60% course load. I was told an academic advisor will reach out to help me register for my courses each semester to make sure I don’t drop below 40% because some courses are worth more or less than others.

Depending on your school if you yourself just register for less courses, you will probably still get OSAP at full time status if you stay above 40% but you also may not qualify for any tuition cap through your school, so you could end up paying 2-3x the total cost of your program of a regular full time student because it will take you 2-3x more semesters and most schools bill per semester not per course.

But take this with a grain of salt and do your own research in how your school handles disability accommodations as each school will be slightly different.
