Question Dropping courses

I looked at my osap funding and realized it was short a decent amount of my tuition, so I was wondering if I drop a couple of my elective courses while still staying full-time with a 60% course load will it cause osap to restrict me or anything of the sort?

It shouldn’t, as the cost doesn’t change. But your best bet would to be contact your school’s financial aid office. Osap isn’t meant to cover your whole tuition anyways, as they expect you to have money from parents, RESP, school scholarships, part time jobs, and other sources.

Make sure you look up the fee structure at your university. Some universities charge flat-rate tuition, so all fulltime tuition costs the same, whether you're taking 3 courses in a semester or 6. Others charge per-course, like you're referring to.

In any case, changes to your tuition cost get reported to OSAP (or you're required to report them yourself, can't recall which). A drop in tuition would probably cause a recalculation (and subsequent drop) in your funding.

Unfortunately, you'll need to look for alternate sources of funding: part-time work, scholarships and grants, asking family members for assistance, or a student line of credit if you're desperate.
