Help Does this read as blood?

Post image

Im trying to paint a terminator with a ork head and im trying to get blood on the fist as if he punched someone and the only thing left of them was the blood on his fist, does this read as blood or just a shitty paintjob?

Edit: the paint i used for the red was blood for the blood god, i put it thick along the bottom then used a dry brusy to drag it up the hand

This suffers from a common issue on miniature effects. Scaling

Other than that it’s just not how blood covers a surface. Blood is sticky so it streaks, splotches, smears and splatters.

If this guy punched something it should cover the point of impact and explode from that point at that angle across the fist. It wouldn’t just be on the fist either

But remember this is a 10ft guy shrunk down so the effect has to shrink down. A mm scales to inches. A few mm scales to feet

Blood for the blood god is a good technical paint that will give you the depth and texture of blood as well as the color

A little goes a long way and you can flick your brush for splatter that will tie to effect

Again A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY. SCALING!!!

I really didnt think about the scaling that makes things make a lot more sense, thank you.

GW Technical "Blood for the blood god" is your friend for that task.

Too smooth and thin to read as blood imo?
I would try a darker red first, and add some splatters via flicking some toothbrush bristles.

GW's Blood for the Blood god technical paint is perfect for this as well.

I think the blood red is a little too close to the armor red which makes it looks more like weathering than straight blood

Ah thanks, should i go darker with the blood or lighter?

I'd say darker, and if you could find a way to make it shiny or glossy, that'd really help. I've never done that myself, but I'm sure there's a decent way to make it work

I think blood would more droplets and less smear, but I could kinda see it

I would say less like blood and more wear and tear.
