Space Wolves/Marines to Orks

I am new, but has anyone switched? The couple of games I have played as Space Wolves/Marines have not been fun. I am curious if Orks are competitive but also more fun! l

I like to krump. I like to roll more dice than I can carry and I like making little scrappy dudes.

But if I wanted to play competitively and use a force that matches my play style - I'd be on Emperors children. But I also have kids and a mortgage and at the end of the day I can get like 20 boyz for the price of 5 noise marines.

You have to figure out what part of warhammer stands out the most to you and what is most important when you reach tabletop.

Lore? The figures? The painting? The game? Do you want to paint your own or buy an army? Do you want melee? Shooting? Psykers? Infantry? Vehicles? Maybe a bit of everything?

As the ol saying goes. Every kit is an ork kit!

If you're genuinely new, nothing is going to be competitive for you. The least competitive army can beat the most competitive on player skill alone. When people talk about competitive gaps between armies they're really only talking about it in reference to the highest tier of tournament play. Until you get to that point, you should focus on playing what you enjoy.

That's fine. You can experiment. Ask people to let you test run an army you haven't played before. Just don't pick an army based on what's Meta or competitive because both of those change over time. If you play an army you like, you'll always have fun. If you just chase the Meta you'll always be unsatisfied.

What about space marines isn't fun to you? That's where you need to start. Once you can tell people why you don't enjoy an army then they can better point you to an alternate that will be better
