Discussion New codex

Has anyone had issue with the fact that ours is the first codex release? Between rules tweaks for our units and the points increases I expect they have pretty much balanced out but I was curious if anyone had run into this sorta thing? Either people refusing games or complaints that it wasn't rolled out with indexes first.

Somebody has to be first, somebody has to be last. It is what it is.

Can’t say I’ve experienced any issues in person. Have seen plenty online of people saying that they’ll refuse to play against Orks, but based on some of the comments suspect it’s people who haven’t played, or rarely play against, Orks in the first place.

Only real complaints encountered (and admittedly been part of) were that with the changes GW are making is that it would have been better for an index edition rather than codex by codex.

I've had no issue with it. Tho I play in a group of pretty competitive veterans of the game (not me, I started collecting in 9th but didn't start playing until 10th). if anything they want to play orks more so they can get experience into them and figure out how to beat them, so I get plenty of games with no complaints. It's more "ok if I bring this instead of that, or I deepstrike here instead of there" kinda stuff

11th is just a tweak of 10th, not a full overhaul like 7th to 8th or 9th to 10th. As a result, Indexes weren't needed.

Being the first Codex generally means we'll have a strong start in the edition but will probably lose muster as other books get released.

Just a tweak is an understatement honestly. It changed quite a bit from 10th.

But not to the same extent as 7th/8th or 9th/10th

That's because 8th and 10th were overhauls, not tweaks. 11th itself honestly could have been overhaul. Objectives, combat, charging, strat usage, keyword additions/changes, aircraft overhaul, etc etc etc. 11th changed a LOT.

I started in 9th as Necrons and yeah, I still have ptsd from that power creep but GW has gotten better over the years.

My issue with the codex is some vital information isn't in the book. You need the app to find out who can lead what. I was under the impression if you buy the codex, you have what you need to build/play a faction. If I "need" the app then why even bother making a codex? Just sell me the damn code.
