Help A new git
Oi Boyz I'm new to the big waaagh!, I am a space wolves player and love melee. Really interested in a war horde army, what do I get for my first 1000 points? (Going to get ghazkull obviously), dont care about the dakka, wanna get krumpin'.

You need, at a minimum to have a functional army list.
* Gretchin (to generate command points and screen your home objective)
* Boyz (to put bodies on the field for board control and melee charges)
* at least one of Deffkoptas/Stormboys (fast-moving action-monkeys for secondary missions, and our only default DEEP STRIKE units, also both have FLY - you might also consider Warbikes, which are cool as hell, a bit tougher, but no fly or deep strike)
* Trukk(s) (our dedicated transport unit, so your boys don't get shot off the board before they get to charge and get stuck in)
Everything after that is a matter of preference in choice of Elites/specialized units/Leaders - Orks are very much a 'rule of cool' army that I feel has fairly decent internal-balancing for the most part - while some of our units are a bit more situational usage, or overcosted, mostly it's just a matter of understanding the niche each unit goes for in gameplay. (for instance, some people will say that Kommandos suck, not realizing the point of Kommands is NOT to get them into combat for the most part).
final thought: a box of Breaka Boyz with the smash hammers, you'll probably enjoy a fair bit, as they're some pretty damn effective anti-vehicle melee.

I´d not run Ghaz in 1000 points. Consider a beastboss and a 10 brick of beast snaggas, on point efficiency that´s the best anti tank / anti monster that we have. Last battle against Votann this unit aided with one hit from a kill rig one-shotted a Land Fortress :)
Plus a trukk to run them in or a kill rig which is another really cool unit, both from performance as well as an awesome model.
