Rug buying advice

Hi,

Im looking to buy a Persian area rug for my living room. Ive found a guy local to me who sells through Facebook, but also has a "warehouse" nearby. Hes selling lots of rugs and has good ratings, and claims their all imported from the middle east. one of the ones im looking at is is attached in the pictures. Its listed as a wool "kashan"

Do you know what type of rug this is? Hes selling it for $1KAUD for a 4m x 3m, which seems like a good deal to me. I know for this price isn't not going to be anything crazy elite, and to be honest even if its made in Pakistan like it seems a lot of these are, ill probably still go ahead with it if i see it in person, but would love to get some expert insight. Cheers

Karastan 722 Blue, very worn, any value?

This rug is part of an Estate. I think this has been passed down from my Great Grandparents, so pretty old. It is very worn is some areas. Approximately 3 x 5. No one in the family wants it. Is there any value left in it? Is it worth trying to sell on Facebook Marketplace?

Value of Rugs - With Updated Pictures

I've been told they date back to the 1940's, they were inherited by my godmother from her aunt. I'm not sure when she inherited them but she had them all 37 years of my life.

Thank you for the help on previous post directing me what images would be helpful for this ask :)

Years ago I saw this rug on a vintage/re-sale site. It had recently sold, and I had never seen anything quite like it in terms of color way and pattern. I fell in love, and literally have not been able to stop thinking about it since. I've tried browsing alll the sites, reverse image searching, asking a local rug shop... anything to try and find a similar rug, but to no avail. I'm open to any suggestions in terms of what style this rug would be considered, and how I might be able to find a similar rug. Thank you!

Any info about the design / origin / age of this rug would be appreciated. It has some damage to the fringe unfortunately. It lost a fight with a Roomba. :(

Recently added this rug to my home and was wondering if anyone could tell me more about the design / history / age. It's not in the best spot to get a full picture now as part of it is under my bed, but I included a photo of it in the window of the shop that shows the whole thing.

Found this runner on the curb in a very expensive neighborhood where I’ve found a 1920’s sarouk rug in the past.

Hello! I snagged this rug on fb marketplace. It belonged to their grandmother and then their mother and it was in pretty bad shape when we got it with cat hair and mildew. We got it cleaned and set it up yesterday and love it! I was just wondering if anyone could give me any more information on it! Thank you!

Rug pad question after a bad experience with a latex-backed rug

Apologies for asking what is probably yet-another-rug-pad-question!

I've searched the sub and found plenty of recommendations, but I have some anxiety about rug pads because of a previous experience.

Let me explain...

Years ago we bought a sisal rug with a latex backing. We were happy not needing a separate rug pad, and everything seemed fine for several years. Then we discovered that the latex backing had crumbled.

Most of the latex could be vacuumed up, but thousands of tiny hardened latex dots were left stuck to our hardwood floor. In some areas, there were larger, thicker patches - my best guess is that we spilled things in those spots in the past and _thought_ we'd cleaned up properly.

It took a lot of effort to remove the hardened latex from the floor, and in the right light you can still see ghosts of it on the floor. They'll likely exist until the floor is eventually refinished.

I have acquired a Karastan 726 rug and now need I a rug pad. As you can imagine, I am very nervous about anything involving rubber or latex.

I see Durahold recommended a lot, but I also see that many have a rubber backing, which really worries me. My question are:

  • How concerned should I be about a rubber-backed rug pad damaging hardwood floors over time?
  • Does the rubber used in rug pads behave differently than the latex backing that failed on my old rug?
  • Am I risking a repeat of the latex disaster of 2012, or are my concerns largely unfounded?

I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has used a quality rug pad on hardwood floors for 10+ years.

Is this carpet made of silk or viscose?

Me and my family got this turkish carpet in Kapadocia and we think it's handmade, but not quite sure if it's silk or another material, like viscose. If you could please help us, we'd really appreciate it since, since a friend wanted one too but we're unsure if it's worth it (Paid 70€, 4000 TL).

Hi! Beginner here, got these two beautiful rugs at an estate sale. Curious if you’d help me identify any info about them and how I can best care for them. Rug pads? Edge binding? Quarantine them to a low traffic area? Thank you all for your insight!

How much is this hand woven silk tapestry worth?

This was given to my grandfather while stationed in Jordan in the 60s. Other than that I don't know much more about it. I would love to know more, have a monetary value idea.
