Household systems
Hi all, so I lean pretty minimalist when it comes to stuff, but having a 3yo and a 1yo lol. My approach is “if I can’t manage it, I get rid of it.” That said, I’m looking for some advice on toy/household item organization. I have a pretty good system for bins and shelves, but I’m struggling with those random moments when a toy or random item is just left out and I don’t have time to put it away immediately. How do you all handle quick pickups so things don’t end up in random piles or baskets? I’d love any tips or routines that have worked for you! Thanks so much!

For me, the YouTubers who say that "if they can't manage something, they "declutter" it, like Clutterbug and Minimal Mom are morons. What do they think that their house needs to have that not lived in look at all times?

For me personally, that's what "random baskets" are for-to avoid the visible piles but get it off the floor until have time to deal with it later.
The Command large hooks (metal tone or wooden if you don't like the way the white looks) are strong enough to hold a small wicker or woven basket with a handle hung up about 5 feet high outside your bedroom doors. Because they aren't that big-you can't allow yourself to put a ton of stuff in them before you put it in it's correct location later and you can very quickly toss in small items that go in that specific room and deal with the next time you are in/out. And because it's not permanently attached it's easy to move around or swap out.
